Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. It's a great way to meet new blogger friends. This weeks question is:
Q: What is your biggest pet peeve when it comes to books? Maybe you don’t like love triangles or thin plots? Tell us about it!
Insta-love tends to annoy me. I like to see a connection built beyond the "he's so hot" reaction. I also have issues with characters that can't make up their minds.
TGIF at GReads! is a weekly blog hop hosted by Ginger from GReads
Q: Writing Reviews 101: What's your process for writing book reviews? Any tips or suggestions you would recommend to other bloggers?
I don't really have a set format for writing them. I tend to take notes and just write from them. I like to talk about how a book made me feel, and my reactions to characters, plot points, etc. If an author can make me feel something it's usually something I want to mention.
Happy weekend and Happy reading!
I'm here via FF and like your answer to the question. That IS annoying. I'm your newest follower and would love for you to visit me when you get a chance... http://wowfromthescarfprincess.blogspot.com/2011/12/follow-friday.html

Hopping through. Insta-love is a definite turn off. It's nice to see them actually get to know each other.

I like your FF answer. I tend to agree with you. However, I sometimes let is slip with YA novels. Teenagers tend to be so PASSIONATE with their feelings; therefore, they have lots of insta-love ^_~
ReplyDeleteAs for writing reviews 101, that's kind of a hard question. I definitely agree with you!

Agreed! Insta-love is incredibly annoying... I prefer the slow-burning bond and those that just crackle with tension until they finally KISS. Not declare their love after, what, a week? Sigh.
ReplyDeleteAnd your review format totally works, because your reviews rock :)
I get what you mean! The whole 'insta-love' thing is absolutely annoying and unrealistic. I can't stand when characters can't make up their minds - especially over boys.
ReplyDeleteInsta love is on a lot of people's pet peeve lists. New follower! My FF Post
ReplyDeleteIt's always great to record the emotional responses you have to a book! I feel like that makes reviews more authentic to me when I read them :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday! good answer.

Ugh! I hate it when a character can't make up her mind about stuff! That's totally a turn off for me!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend, Kathy!
