2022 Most Anticipated - How to Fake It in Hollywood

You might have noticed that Hollywood set books are a bit of a theme this year and that is because they are totally a trend for 2022. This one features a fake dating which is always a bonus.

My next book selected for the event is How to Fake It In Hollywood by Ava Wilder and it sounds amazing! 

The Goodreads synopsis makes this feel like a must read for romance fans. It has some amazing comparisons and definitely sets up the fake to real dating chemistry.

I love that Ethan kind of sounds a little flawed and messy and I hope that both of these characters are fleshed out because this romance could easily become a a favourite.

Ava was kind enough to take the time to answer some questions about this book and what books she is looking forward to reading in 2022.

2 If someone were to make a signature drink in honour of your book, what might be included?

It would probably be some kind of champagne cocktail– with a seltzer-based mocktail version to go along with it. 3 Your book is set in Hollywood and focuses on the behind the scenes in particular. Why do you think Hollywood fascinates and inspires?

I think because it's a setting that calls for extremes. The highs are high and the lows are low, and the stakes feel much higher because everyone's watching. On a superficial level, celebrities are gorgeous and wealthy and live glamorous-looking lifestyles that a tiny minority of people will ever get to experience. But there’s also a lot of darkness that comes along with life in the public eye. The inner workings of the entertainment industry are incredibly toxic and exploitative, and most people who try to break in end up getting chewed up and spit out by it. Even for those who do find success, it's often fleeting, and being put on a pedestal like that means a very long way to fall. For people who follow celebrity culture, I think there’s a thrill in the push-pull tension of “I wish that were me”/“I’m so glad that’s not me.” 4 What is one song that made your playlist while writing this book?

“Handle with Care” by the Traveling Wilburys. The narrator of that song is someone who's been through the wringer of fame, which has left him jaded and closed-off– but he's also navigating the fear & hope of feeling a spark with someone new and allowing himself to be vulnerable again for the first time in a long time. 5 What 2022 release are you most anticipating?

I'm very excited for all the #22debuts adult romances I haven't gotten the chance to read yet– the ones I've read so far have been fantastic. Besides that, I (and the rest of the romance-reading world, I’m sure) can't wait for new books from Emily Henry, Talia Hibbert, and Rachel Lynn Solomon. 6 If not too spoilery, can you share the first line of How to Fake it in Hollywood. I feel bad because it’s not very exciting, but: “Lucy?”

How to Fake It In Hollywood releases June 14, 2022. It's a perfect release date as this feels like a book that demands to be read by the pool (or at the beach) with some kind of frozen drink.
