Waiting on Wednesday....Venom

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

My pick this week is Venom by Fiona Paul

Here is the Goodreads synopsis
Cassandra Caravello is one of Renaissance Venice’s lucky elite: with elegant gowns, sparkling jewels, access to the best balls, her own lady’s maid, and a wealthy fiancé, she has everything a girl could desire. Yet ever since her parents’ death, Cassandra has felt trapped, alone in a city of water, where the dark and labyrinthine canals whisper of escape.
But when Cass stumbles upon a murdered woman—practically in her own backyard—she’s drawn into a dangerous world of secret societies, courtesans, and killers. Soon, she finds herself falling for Falco, a mysterious artist with a mischievous grin... and a spectacular skill for trouble. Can Cassandra find the murderer, before he finds her? And will she stay true to her fiancé, or succumb to her uncontrollable feelings for Falco?
Beauty, love, romance, and mystery weave together in a stunning novel that’s as seductive and surprising as the city of Venice itself
The cover for this is STUNNING! I love it. I was hooked with the mention of secret societies, a murder mystery and a guy so seductive he'd make Cassandra forget her fiancé. The fact that it takes place in Venice just adds to the mystery and makes me want to read it even more. I can't wait to get my hands on this one!

Expected release date - October 30, 2012

  2. I love the setting and the sound of this book. I'm not sure if in the end it would be something for me, because I get crazy about secrets (Yeah.. I love reading, I hate secrets, but wait! Only because it often takes protagonists so long to get to the core of everything and learn the truth!) but it just looks so promising! *gnaws on fists* I want!

  5. Yay VENOM :) Thanks for your interest everybody.

@Patricia There are LOTS of secrets, but it's not one of those novels where the reader knows everything on page 20, but the character takes 250 more pages to figure it out. (Those make me CRAZY!) It's one of those books where (hopefully) the reader and the MC uncover the secrets at the same time.

  9. AHHHH. Stop it. You're making me MORE desperate for this book! Italy, I adore! I want more YA books set in countries outside of US, so I'm looking forward to the setting alone and the plot... whoa. Killers, secret societies and... mmm, I'm a sucker for a mischievous grin :D

I have decided to make this an awards free blog. I appreciate the gesture, and love that you thought of my blog, however I simply can't pass them along as required.
