NOWHERE BUT HERE Synopsis
An unforgettable new series from acclaimed author Katie McGarry about taking risks, opening your heart and ending up in a place you never imagined possible
Seventeen-year-old Emily likes her life the way it is: doting parents, good friends, good school in a safe neighborhood. Sure, she's curious about her biological father—the one who chose life in a motorcycle club, the Reign of Terror, over being a parent—but that doesn't mean she wants to be a part of his world. But when a reluctant visit turns to an extended summer vacation among relatives she never knew she had, one thing becomes clear: nothing is what it seems. Not the club, not her secret-keeping father and not Oz, a guy with suck-me-in blue eyes who can help her understand them both.

Oz wants one thing: to join the Reign of Terror. They're the good guys. They protect people. They're…family. And while Emily—the gorgeous and sheltered daughter of the club's most respected member—is in town, he's gonna prove it to her. So when her father asks him to keep her safe from a rival club with a score to settle, Oz knows it's his shot at his dream. What he doesn't count on is that Emily just might turn that dream upside down.
No one wants them to be together. But sometimes the right person is the one you least expect, and the road you fear the most is the one that leads you home.

Exquisite Captive book trailer reveal

Today marks the two month countdown until the release of Heather Demetrios' Exquisite Captive. As a way to celebrate this exciting milestone the members of the Blogger Caravan are revealing the book trailer!

Amazing right? It captures the tone and feel of the novel perfectly. I've gotten to read it already and it's sexy, intense, and Nalia is a stunning protagonist.

Seeing as this novel is all about wishes....if you were granted some wishes, what would one of your wishes be?

You can add Exquisite Captive to your Goodreads, and find Heather on Twitter, or at her website.

Weekly Obsessions

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every Saturday.

Here are my obsessions this week:

BOOKS

Icons by Margaret Stohl book trailer

Intense. Also one of the more well done book trailers I've seen. I get that these are often done under a strict budget, but this one looks polished. It really tells me the tone of the book, and I am eager to pick this one up. Luckily I have a copy taunting me from my book closet. I hope to be able to pick it up soon.

Night Film by Marisha Pessl

(Copyright of Random House Canada via Instagram account)

While fangirling about Night Film by Marisha Pessl and how badly I want to read it I mentioned to Random House Canada via Twitter that I would love to see a cover. They sent me a link to their Instagram photo above. I can't wait to read it.

Cover for Fire With Fire by Jenny Han and Siobhan Vivian

I love that they used the same models, and that the covers match. Excited to see what happens, especially with Mary.

TV

Once Upon A Time Paleyfest panel

There is so much I LOVE about this entire panel. Each actor is delightful, and so funny. I have to say that Colin O'Donoghue's accent is incredibly sexy. Oh, and the titles of the last two episodes of the season? Totally made me freak out! I adore the Peter Pan story and can not wait to see what Once Upon A Time does with Neverland.

So what are you obsessed with this week?

The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer book trailer...

Sigh...

So I live in Canada and can not watch this. However, I am sure it's amazing, sexy, dark, and twisty..because that's exactly what The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin is.

EDIT -

Here is a video that should be viewable to all. The trailer is amazing. Seriously. One of the best I've seen.

Enjoy the video and come back next week for my Mara Dyer week.

YA and Book Trailers

I am sure most of you have heard about the Wall Street Journal article "Darkness Too Visible" that basically slammed the YA genre. I wanted to post a much different blog post (mainly one with swearing and rants) but decided to give myself some time to cool off. They also posted another article slamming book trailers.

If you somehow managed to miss this please see the two articles -

Darkness Too Visible

The Insane World of Book Trailers

It seems that the Wall Street Journal is just bashing YA novels without really taking the time to do proper research. Have they heard of Anna and the French Kiss by the lovely Stephanie Perkins? The Princess Diaries series by Meg Cabot? Not every author that writes YA focuses on the dark. There are plenty of novels that are on the lighter side. These were sadly not even mentioned.

I would also like to bring up the fact that YA novels that were published years ago also were quite dark. Lord of the Flies anyone? The fact is that death, suicide, addictions, rape, etc. exist in the world. It's more important that we don't ignore these topics and get people to talk about the issue. I love that a lot of these books (really I mean the authors) take the time to provide hot line numbers, support websites and other information for people to get help if they are suffering. This wasn't mentioned in the article either.

I also don't know about most readers, but reading the same style, or type of book would get a little boring after awhile. I like that I can have a wide variety to choose from that includes both light and dark. I am not always a bubbly happy person and yes, my entertainment choices reflect that. There are times that I want to be challenged, be made to think and be left with something after I read a book, and other times I want to lay on a beach with something light and girly.

The trailer issue to me didn't really make sense either. The whole point is to get people talking, buzzing and wanting to learn more about your book. If an image, a video, or synopsis does that I don't think it's a bad thing. Shouldn't every tool possible be used to encourage EVERYONE to pick up more books? It seems like a no- brainer to me. I am going to post some amazing trailers that I do think helped get the book out into the public.

Trailers -

Room by Emma Donoghue

This simple, yet highly effective trailer has made me want to grab a copy of this book. I am not so patiently waiting to get my hands on it from the library. I know this book is not YA but they slammed all trailers so...

Wither by Lauren DeStefano

This tells you in such a brief time what you can expect from this novel. I think it captured it perfectly.

Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare

One of the first book trailers I watched. I thought it was so unique and different. It give you the feel and mood of the novel.

Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi

As if I wasn't excited about this book enough. This trailer has made me even more curious and has made me want to read this book even more.

In closing, I just wanted to say that I could not have been more proud when I saw #YASaves trending on Twitter. There are times that I am in awe of this book community I recently become a small part of, and that was one of them.

What do you think? Can you think of any trailers or books that go against what Wall Street Journal is proclaiming? Leave them in the comments and I will check them out!

Trailers and Covers...Oh My...

There have been a bunch of trailers and book covers released in the last little while. I wanted to highlight some of my favourites.

First is the cover for Silence. The third book in Becca Fitzpatrick's Hush Hush series. The cover is beautiful. So striking. I love all the covers in this series. It's fantastic that both Patch and Nora are on this cover. I am excited to read this book and hope that the cover means Patch and Nora will be together in the end.

This is the trailer for Amy Plum's Die For Me. It's fantastic and fits the book perfectly. I have a review, character interview and a fun giveaway coming up next week for this book. It's one of my new favourites.

The last trailer I wanted to show is for Veronica Roth's Divergent. I was able to find a copy in my local bookstore a few days early and I am almost done reading it already. It's so good. I couldn't find a link to embed it here, but EW.com has it available on the website. Click here. It's in bookstores today so pick it up!

What book covers or trailers are on your radar? I am curious to see what I might have missed.

Trailers...

The trailer for Invincible Summer by Hannah Moskowitz is in stores today and here is the official book trailer. It's pretty awesome.

There was also a trailer released for the movie The Help. I read the book and loved it and was happy to see that the trailer has the same feel. I hope it'll be just as fantastic as the book.

Sadly I can't find the video to put here, but you can view it at EW.com by clicking here.

Trailers and Posters..

The trailer for Kelley Armstrong's new book The Gathering was released. I enjoyed her previous YA series so I am looking forward to reading this one.

It's pretty awesome and the end left me curious as to what happened!

They also released the trailer for Gayle Forman's Where She Went. I loved If I Stay and am looking forward to reading this one when it's released.

I am a huge Harry Potter fan. Love the series and the movies. The last movie(sniff)is coming out later this summer and they released an amazing poster for it.

Amazing right? I am so excited and yet sad for this movie to come out. It's going to be so bittersweet.

City of Fallen Angels Trailer 2 - DSAS

I am sure EVERYONE has already seen it...however in case you were not aware the second trailer for the City of Fallen Angels was released yesterday.

If you follow Cassandra Clare on twitter (or read the teasers she gave out) you most likely heard about the DSAS or the the Dirty Sexy Alley Scene. This is that trailer. It's hot, you should watch.

It was provided in the form of a fun treasure hunt so I am not going to spoil the surprise by posting the video here. Start out at Cassandra Clare's blog and follow her instructions.

Here is a tease to get you excited...

Mortal Instruments City of Fallen Angels Trailer #1

The first trailer for City of Fallen Angels was released yesterday. It is one of the most anticipated releases in YA this year.

I am a huge fan of this series, and really enjoy Cassandra Clare's writing style.

This trailer fills you in on some of the happenings from the first 3 books. (so maybe some spoilers if you haven't read the first 3).

There will be 4 more trailers leading up to the release date of April 5!

Enjoy!

The Vampire Stalker by Allison Van Diepen - Trailer

I have decided that every Tuesday I will post a trailer. It could be a book trailer, or a movie trailer that is based on a book.

The first trailer I am posting is for The Vampire Stalker. I was intrigued by this novel from the synopsis. You can find out more on GoodReads.

The trailer just makes me more excited for it to come out!
