Logan St. James is a smoldering, sexy beast. Sure, he can be a little broody at times—but Ellie Hammond’s willing to overlook that. Because, have you seen him??

Sexy. As. Hell.

And Ellie’s perky enough for both of them.

For years, she’s had a crush on the intense, gorgeous royal security guard—but she doesn’t think he ever saw her, not really.

To Logan, Ellie was just part of the job—a relative of the royal family he’d sworn to protect. Now, at 22 years old and fresh out of college, she’s determined to put aside her X-rated dreams of pat-downs and pillow talk, and find a real life happily ever after.

The Queen of Wessco encourages Ellie to follow in her sister’s footsteps and settle down with a prince of her own. Or a duke, a marquis…a viscount would also do nicely.

But in the pursuit of a fairy tale ending, Ellie learns that the sweetest crushes can be the hardest to let go.

Logan St. James grew up on the wrong side of the tracks, in a family on the wrong side of the law. But these days, he covers his tattoos and scars with a respectable suit. He’s handsome, loyal, brave, skilled with his hands and…other body parts.

Any woman would be proud to call him hers.

But there’s only one woman he wants.

For years he’s watched over her, protected her, held her hair back when she was sick, taught her how to throw a punch, and spot a liar.

He dreams of her. Would lay down his life for her.

But beautiful Ellie Hammond’s off-limits.

Everybody knows the bodyguard rules: Never lose focus, never let them out of your sight, and never, ever fall in love.
The bodyguard who falls in love with the person they are supposed to be protecting trope is one of my favourites so I was thrilled when the next book in the Royally series promised this sexy sounding scenario. I was happy to discover that this book more than delivered on that premise, even if I wish some elements had been fleshed out a little more.

This novel is different than the other two as it spans over a few years of Ellie and Logan's relationship. We see it progress slowly which makes it feel more realistic. This narration style allows us to see events from the previous two books from a different perspective and it also allows the author to fill in some details that were not include in those first novels. It's pretty much a love letter to fans of the series, which I appreciated.

Logan St James is focused, determined, and loyal. He's presented as a sort of 'alpha male' who presents a tough exterior but loves fiercely. His loyalty was something that defined his character for me. It is present in every decision he makes. I typically do not enjoy the alpha male character trope. I find plenty of them problematic and infuriating, but Logan manages to walk the delicate balance between sexy and douchey. He's protective without being stifling or controlling which was my concern going into this novel.

Ellie is the character that I felt we got to see grow and change the most. We meet her when she is just on the cusp of adulthood and see her mature into the young woman she is by the end of the novel. It is her that I predict readers will feel the most connected to as a result. She's more bubbly and outgoing than Logan which makes them an excellent match. I especially enjoyed the teasing banter that was built into their friendship and eventual relationship.

Those interested in the sexy parts of this novel will have to be patient. It is the slowest of slow burns and really only heats up in the latter part of the novel. This unresolved sexual tension is the only tension that really worked for me in the novel. It makes the eventually payoff all the sweeter and ensures that the reader is fully invested. It also allows the two characters to be on more equal footing. Ellie is technically still a teenager when she first begins to have a crush on her sexy bodyguard. She needs that extra time to grow up and become an adult herself before anything can happen. Logan also needs this time to see her has something other than the teenager who has a crush on him. The age difference is handled perfectly, and nothing really happens until they are both mature enough for it to.

The ending is what the novel has be building towards, but it didn't hold quite the power I expect it was supposed to. The earlier part of the book was more tightly paced and engaging. Getting to see Ellie and Logan's novel story evolve through the years he was her guard was endearing and ensured that we cared about both of them. The love story wasn't the issue. There is a side plot that is meant to provide the  main stakes of the story and it doesn't quite have the payoff I wanted because it wasn't spread out enough throughout the book. The raising tension that should be felt just is not there as a result. It could have been woven in better and it would have resonated a little more. The good thing is that the rest of the novel is done really well that it was only a minor blip in my enjoyment of this novel.

The Royally series is perfect for those wanting their reads to be both sexy and fun. They are also perfect for fans of books that feature royalty and everything that ensues from being related to, or falling in love with, one. I can only hope that Emma Chase plans to return to these characters again in the future, because I don't think I am ready to fully leave them behind just yet.

Cover Reveal - Royally Endowed by Emma Chase

Today I am VERY excited to be helping reveal the cover for the next companion novel in the Royally series by Emma Chase. I really enjoyed the first two books in this 'series' and cannot wait to read this one! The books can be read as standalones, but I recommend reading them in order as you'll get something a little extra from them. Royally Endowed is scheduled to be released August 14th so there is still plenty of time to catch up!

And now for this AMAZING cover .....

Here is the Goodreads synopsis
Some men are born responsible, some men have responsibility thrust upon them. Henry Charles Albert Edgar Pembrook, Prince of Wessco, just got the motherlode of all responsibility dumped in his regal lap.

He’s not handling it well.

Hoping to force her grandson to rise to the occasion, Queen Lenora goes on a much-needed safari holiday—and when the Queen’s away, the Prince will play. After a chance meeting with an American television producer, Henry finally makes a decision all on his own:

Welcome to Matched: Royal Edition.

A reality TV dating game show featuring twenty of the world's most beautiful blue bloods gathered in the same castle. Only one will win the diamond tiara, only one will capture the handsome prince’s heart.

While Henry revels in the sexy, raunchy antics of the contestants as they fight, literally, for his affection, it’s the quiet, bespectacled girl in the corner—with the voice of an angel and a body that would tempt a saint—who catches his eye.

The more Henry gets to know Sarah Mirabelle Zinnia Von Titebottum, the more enamored he becomes of her simple beauty, her strength, her kind spirit…and her naughty sense of humor.

But Rome wasn’t built in a day—and irresponsible royals aren’t reformed overnight.

As he endeavors to right his wrongs, old words take on whole new meanings for the dashing Prince. Words like, Duty, Honor and most of all—Love.
A misbehaving Prince, a reality television show, and some royal drama. What more could you want? These all combine to create an enjoyable and romantic read that perfectly continues Emma Chase's Royally series.

Henry is the scandalous member of the Pembrook royal family. He immediately brings to mind another Prince whose first name starts with an H. His charm, whit, and extroverted nature only increase his appeal. His journey in this novel from the prince of parties, to an actual prince charming is the heart of this novel. His character development is such a large part of the plot of this novel, and every part of it feels earned.

Sarah's love of books is the first charming thing you learn about her but there are plenty of other reasons to love this novel's leading lady. She comes complete with gripping backstory that instantly makes you root for her. Her character was quite different than I was expecting and that is in large part due to the story arc she is given and the impact her past has on her character. The impact of past events on a character is sometimes tricky to realize within the text with it feeling like it is being told instead of shown. This novel accomplishes it and the author makes it look easy. It is simply part of who the character is and she is formed by what has happened to her. It makes her seem even more real, and adds a little something extra to her character.

Henry's duty to his country and the people of his country as the future King is not forgotten in the romance of this novel. His duty comes first, as it should. I appreciated that both Henry and Sarah realize this as their relationship develops and it is not something that comes between them. They each want to be what is best for the country and its people. Sarah realizes that if she is to be with Henry she has to be a good Queen and Henry eventually realizes he wants nothing more than to be a good King. It just reinforced their love story in a way that I absolutely loved. Their love story is also one that begins as friendship. It naturally, and slowly, evolves into something more. This may mean less sexy scenes, but it pays off in the form of more realistic feeling relationship between the characters.

The only, slight, misstep for me was the reality television show aspect of the story. I didn't feel it fully wove seamlessly into the rest of the plot. It was certainly used to further the plot and create drama, but it didn't feel vital to Henry's story or progression. It fits who is character is, but his growth rapidly makes it feel out of place, and lasts perhaps just a little too long. It is not major, and certainly not distracting for the overall story, just something that tipped the first novel a little ahead of this one.

I may have preferred the first novel in this series, but Henry's story was still a delight to read. It really is a personal preference between the two brothers that probably cinches it. If you're looking for a fun, sexy, and sweet read featuring a swoon inducing prince, I recommend not just this book, but this series.

Here is the Goodreads synopsis
Nicholas Arthur Frederick Edward Pembrook, Crowned Prince of Wessco, aka His Royal Hotness, is wickedly charming, devastatingly handsome, and unabashedly arrogant; hard not to be when people are constantly bowing down to you.

Then, one snowy night in Manhattan, the prince meets a dark haired beauty who doesn't bow down. Instead, she throws a pie in his face.

Nicholas wants to find out if she tastes as good as her pie, and this heir apparent is used to getting what he wants.

Dating a prince isn't what waitress Olivia Hammond ever imagined it would be.

There's a disapproving queen, a wildly inappropriate spare heir, relentless paparazzi, and brutal public scrutiny. While they've traded in horse drawn carriages for Rolls Royces, and haven't chopped anyone's head off lately, the royals are far from accepting of this commoner.

But to Olivia, Nicholas is worth it.

Nicholas grew up with the whole world watching, and now Marriage Watch is in full force. In the end, Nicholas has to decide who he is and, more importantly, who he wants to be: a King... or the man who gets to love Olivia forever.
The daydream of becoming a princess by marrying a prince that many young girls have gets a sexy overhaul in Royally Screwed. It offers a fun, sexy, and drama filled take on a prince falling for a 'commoner' and was an entirely delightful reading experience.

Nicholas is my favourite kind of 'alpha male' character archetype. He is protective without being overbearing about it. He is witty without being annoying, and uses just the right amount of sexual innuendo. All of this and there isn't a growl or possessive declaration to be seen. I normally am not a fan of characters who are 'alpha male' but I am in this particular case.

Olivia is smart, capable, and sacrificing. She is fiercely loyal to her family and has willingly put some aspects of her life on hold to help out her family. A lot of this story is her finding out what she might want, and to allow others to help out with things. She is a take charge kind of girl, and that means she would rather do things on her own. It was nice that she had things outside of Nicholas and the romance story going on.

The romance is the perfect blend of sexy and sweet. The sexy scenes are blush worthy and the sweet gestures are plentiful. The romance is, obviously, the focus but is balanced with outside storylines to create a richer, more enjoyable read. This is classic rom-com in book format though, complete with the necessary drama that the couple must work through in order to achieve their happily ever after.

The side characters are equally great. I loved Franny, the wife of Nicholas' friend Simon. She's more shrewd and calculating than Olivia is, but she is exactly the kind of person you want on your side. .Ellie, Olivia's younger sister, is all kind of hilarious and sweet. She cares about her older sister and wants what is best for her. There are plenty of other characters that help bring this story alive, and they each leave you hoping you'll see them in future novels.

Speaking of side characters, I could not complete this review without mentioning Henry. Henry is Nicholas' brother (also known as the 'wildly inappropriate spare' from the synopsis above) and the more wild of the two. His scandalous behaviour will bring to mind another Prince whose name also starts with an H. I wanted much more of Henry by the end of the novel. He is immediately loveable and his antics are anything but dull.

There are companion novels, but based on the events of this first book, they should be read in order. They would, probably, make sense read out of order but the events of this book highly impact the second in a way that is pretty spoilery.

If you're looking for some good spring/summer romance recommendations I highly recommend this one. You'll fall for Nicholas and Olivia's love story and definitely want to pick up the next novel in this companion style series. If you enjoyed The Prince and Me, and The Princess Diaries and would love something that puts a sexy twist to them, I think you'll love this book as much as I do.
