Hollywood Prince by Natasha Madison

Behind the “lights, camera, action” of Hollywood lies a world of deception, love, and seduction.

Are you ready for Hollywood Royalty?

Carter

A blonde, a brunette, a redhead…he can have his pick of them all on any given night and he knows it. They wait, hoping he looks up and gives them his signature smirk, choosing them over the others because that’s his game.

Except now he’s signed the contract of a lifetime, one with a pesky little clause that says his zipper must stay up and his playboy image has got to tamp down. It’ll be fine—a piece of cake, even—he can do this and he’s almost convinced himself of that … and then she walks in the room

The new PR girl whom they’ve hired to change his image, she’s the star of all his dreams, but there’s one tiny little problem … she can’t stand him and all of his player ways.

He knows he only has thirty days to show her why they call him Hollywood’s Prince. He’s up for the challenge, so game on.

Natasha Madison's Hollywood set series with the gorgeous covers is coming to a end. The last book in the series, Hollywood Prince, introduces us to a womanizing actor, a woman who isn't impressed by his good looks or charm, and the sort of happily ever after that readers have come to expect from these books.

Erin is a woman with her eye on the prize. That, in this case, means her dream job. All that is standing in her way is Hollywood's most eligible bachelor and his penchant for hooking up with more woman than he can count. She's tasked with fixing his reputation in the public eye and jumps into it with a relatable mixture of excitement and nervousness. She felt really relatable for a lot of the story and I could not help but root for her. She is shown as being good at her job while still having time for romance and a family which I found set the perfect balance for this character.

Carter comes complete with a sympathy inducing backstory that almost makes up for him being pretty awful in other parts of the story. It almost reached the point that I could not forgive him. He is not my favourite love interest from this series, but I predict many will find him very appealing. I wish his redemption arc after his rage inducing behaviour had been a little more earned. The big incident is pretty awful and I felt the latter part of the novel rushed past this element a bit too quickly for my personal tastes. The good news is that there are some pretty amazing moments from this character as well. Those moments are often standout ones that will make most romance readers swoon.

The relationship starts out a little rocky with Erin being entirely unimpressed by Carter's womanizing ways. They banter and bicker a lot with sparks flying the entire time. Erin is quick to call Carter on his bullshit and can see through his swagger that he uses like armor. Their relationship grows as they let each other in and they each wriggle past the walls that the other has up. Fans of relationships where they keep each other on their toes will be a big fan of this dynamic.

This novel felt a little more Hollywood than the last one to me. The set visits, the team of people invested in the reputation of an actor and what it means for their business, the tabloid fodder. It all felt like the Hollywood we are used to in our media. It proved to be a great backdrop for this story and allowed the pacing to not feel as rushed when it came to the romance. The time on set allowed the relationship to build at a natural pace that fed into the pacing of the novel itself.

Another fun element of the story were the cameos from the characters in the previous books in this series. A treat for readers who have followed this series without distracting from the story being told. It was nice to catch up with the couples in the previous books and have this world feel a little smaller at the same time.

Hollywood Prince offers up another solid read from Natasha Madison. They are light, quick reads that are the perfect distraction from a hard day, or a pick me up on a rainy one. They're filled with all of the romance tropes that readers of this novel love and offer up some Hollywood glam in the process.

Here is the Goodreads synopsis
Behind the "lights, camera, action" of Hollywood lies a world of deception, love, and seduction.

Are you ready for Hollywood Royalty?

Kellie

An Oscar, a Tony, an Emmy, a Grammy—she has them all.
She's the most sought-after woman in Hollywood.
Even if her rise to fame was a fluke, you can't deny the camera loves her.
The problem is so does everyone else, and she's about to leave on the biggest concert tour of her life.
Headlining for the first time in five years.

Around the world in ninety days. Should be a piece of cake.
Until her new security detail walks in the room and she’s looking into the eyes of the only man who didn’t fall for her charm.

It's only a matter of time till he falls for Hollywood's Princess.
Romance mixed with a little bit of mystery is a fantastic combination and Natasha Madison proves that with her next Hollywood Royalty book. Hollywood Princess is filled with just enough danger, plenty of hot chemistry, and sexual tension filled banter to spare.

Kellie is the darling of the music industry. She's super talented and has already snagged plenty of accolades and awards as a result. She's also a down to earth country girl who is just as happy binge watching her latest TV obsession as she is on stage. She's hard working and loyal to those who earn her trust. Needless to say I ended up loving her and her strong willed nature.

Brian is a former Navy Seal turned bodyguard and he takes his job incredibly seriously. He is one hundred percent focused and determined. This characteristic makes him a swoon worthy hero and adds another obstacle into the plot. He's so professional he doesn't want to do anything about the bubbling sexual tension that is evident whenever he and Kellie interact on the page. He's fiercely protective without being overbearing and that made all of the different for me. He's a character who could have been the opposite and I would not have loved the story as much as I do if that were the case.

The romance in this one is interesting. It has shades of being a second chance romance. There are elements of a hate to love story at the beginning but it isn't really that either. It gives you these little teases of the classic tropes you're used to and sort of mixes them together. It is also, obviously, the story of a bodyguard falling in love with the person he is charged with protecting (which is an inherently sexy premise). That extra layer of danger heightens their romance and made the chemistry work in my opinion. Everything was heightened and urgent in a way that pushed them together. I, also, appreciated that they had bonded before the story even begins because it meant the speed of their relationship was more believable. I don't think the story would work as well without this added back story between them.

The little moments between Kellie and Brian are what make this novel. The day in Chicago, him getting her the fast food that she loves after a show, and the truth being told on long bus rides between shows. It is those moments that shine the brightest for me. It adds up to a pretty romantic story whose foundation isn't built on the big, celebrity-ish moments but on the smaller, more real ones, instead. The sexual tension is palpable, and there is plenty of sexy banter, but it is these moments that make up the heart of novel.

The mystery was engaging enough but didn't take over the story. I feel this is still firmly a romance read that happens to have some thriller elements in it. Kellie's need for security detail because of a stalker is what brings our couple together. The plot is mainly about them getting together and finding their way through obstacles to their happily ever after. These obstacles just happen to include someone who is sending Kellie creepy gifts and following her every move. It's jarring enough to keep you invested, but not too much that it takes the reader out of the romance story being told. The resolution for this part of the plot was really well done with the reveal working to further the main romance plot.

Romance novels are like comfort food in that they give you exactly what you what. You know going in what to expect and that brings a certain feeling of comfort. I recommend this book (and Hollywood Playboy) to those looking for exactly this kind of read. It's pure escapism that leaves you contented when you've finished reading it. I cannot wait to dive into Hollywood Prince and I expect other readers will be just as eager with the introduction of Carter at the end of this one.

Hollywood Playboy by Natasha Madison

Jessica

An entertainment journalist was the last thing I thought I would be doing.

I thought once I got my degree, I would be reporting on stories that made a difference, but now all I do is report on who broke up with who and who is dating who.

I was over it.

Then I got my next assignment.

He’s Hollywood’s bad boy.

He works hard, and he plays even harder.

He’s rude, he’s condescending, and he’s made it known he doesn’t want me on the tour.

With one month on the road with him, two things might happen

One, I may never work in this industry again.

Two, I may just be like everyone else and fall for Hollywood’s Playboy.

Hollywood set romances are an immediate must read for me. I am also a huge fan of the 'enemies to lovers' trope. Needless to say, I was instantly intrigued when I saw the details for Natasha Madison's latest. It mixed the Hollywood setting, the 'enemies to lovers' trope with some hot chemistry, and some intriguing characters.

Jessica  is a sassy intelligent woman who knows what she wants and she is not afraid to go out and get it. She's a character who is easy to relate to and just as easy to root for. She's had to grow a thick skin because of her job but that just makes her all the more interesting. She stands up for herself, and doesn't take anything from anyone. She can dish it out just as well as she can take it. I also appreciated the more vulnerable side that she got to show. It made her feel like a character who was well crafted and more layered.

Tyler, on the outside, seems like the typical Hollywood bad boy. That would be true if you only read what is being said about him. There is great care taken to show that he is more complex than it first appears. He grows on you in much the same way he grows on Jessica. The reader is introduced to the story from Jessica's point of view, and that means the reader connects with her first. It also means that it takes just a little longer to appreciate Tyler. There is a hint of some alpha male characteristics, but not enough to infuriate me. He's a good balance of sweet, protective, and supportive. It also helps that Jessica does put him in his place when those characteristics do pop up.

Jessica and Tyler's romance may have 'Hollywood' as the background but their connection seems realistic rather than the stuff of movies. They bond while at the gym. The time they spend together is much more low key than I anticipated going into this novel. It makes for a more grounded relationship between the two of them that feels authentic. This book could have had the epic stuff of movie love stories, but I found it offered something much more real. There is still the odd scene that feels straight out of a movie, but even those felt a little more obtainable. The more 'Hollywood' stuff is saved for the plot rather than making it a focus in their relationship.

This book also has the side effect of unexpectedly igniting your wanderlust. The press tour takes them to some amazing sounding destinations and the scenes that feature the locations in a prominent, touristy way made me want to go plan a trip of my own. The element isn't a huge focus, it is more just sprinkled in, but the use is entirely effective and creates a wonderful backdrop for a love story.

Those who love companion novels as much as I do will delight in meeting the character who will be the focused on the second novel in this series, Hollywood Princess. She's a delight and I cannot wait to get to know her better. The tease of her given in this novel gives the reader plenty of incentive to grab the next book and experience her love story.

If you're looking for a fun, sexy read that offers up a look at Hollywood movie promotion, entertainment journalism, and a whirlwind romance. It's exactly what romance readers love in a book and I highly recommend it, especially for those how love a little Hollywood glitz with their romance.
