I know this is late, but it is a holiday here for most of Canada so I decided to share it today instead. Happy Monday, everyone! BOOKS Cover of Crazy Stupid Bromance by Lyssa Kay Adams (goodreads)
This cover is incredibly cute! I love the covers for this series and think this one just might be my favourite out of the bunch
I need to read this as soon as possible! I urge you to read the other books in the series if you haven't already done so.
MOVIES/TV *** DO NOT WATCH IF YOU DO NOT WANT INFORMATION ABOUT SEASON FOUR ***
The Stranger Things creators gave us a Valentine's Day present when they dropped this teaser for the fourth season of the show. The fact that they revealed the information contained in this video has me excited for a couple different reasons.
If you're okay with knowing some information about the fourth season check out the video below.
The fact that they are revealing this only makes me excited for what BIGGER reveals are to come. This felt like a huge thing to share so I expect that whatever they are holding back is going to be pretty exciting.
I am just glad we got this bit of information so that it doesn't have to be the focus of the upcoming marketing campaign for the show!
What are you obsessed with this week? Let me know in the comments.
Wrapping up my look back at 2019 with the best of everything else (ie: not books or movies). This means sharing the television and podcasts that made my year.
Television
1. Succession
This is absolutely my favourite new find of 2019. I didn't watch it when the first season aired so I got to binge it before season two premiered and I am obsessed. Everything about it from the acting, directing, writing, etc is phenomenal. It's not a show I thought I would love as much as I do, but it is incredibly addictive.
The entire cast stands out but some of my favourites are Jeremy Strong, who delivers 2019's best acting performance in season two, Kieran Culkin who is a delight as Roman. Sarah Snook who is incredible as Shiv (and has a wardrobe to match). Matthew Macfadyen who, as Tom, manages to steal so many scenes, and Nicholas Braun who kills it as fan favourite Cousin Greg. 2. Stranger Things Season 3
I anticipate that this show will be on every end of year list I do until it wraps up. The third season was absolutely everything I hoped it would be (and more). It gave fans exactly what they wanted by offering up more scenes between our favourite pairings, and managed to make a bigger, more action packed season feel just as emotionally satisfying as the others. Dacre Montgomery's portrayal of Billy this season gave me goosebumps, and I felt the emotional impact of his story arc in particular. 3. Mindhunter Season 2
This show managed to make a riveting season around what is basically, for many, still an unsolved case. There are so many questions that linger around the Atlanta Child Murders that I was curious about how they would address it when I discovered that was what this season was going to focus on. The answer to that question was to be as faithful as possible to factual events. This entire season worked for me, and Holt McCallany's Bill Tench was my MVP of this season. 4. The Good Place
I discovered this super late and actually binged watched the entire thing this year. I normally do not watch comedies and have enjoyed very few, so I was pleasantly surprised when I ended up loving this show. It's smart, and charming, and actually funny. I, of course, love all of the main characters and ship Eleanor and Chidi way more than I thought I would at the beginning.
Other
1. You Must Remember This podcast
If you're a fan of movies, golden age Hollywood, and well produced podcasts I highly recommend you check out You Must Remember This. The amount of research that writer/narrator Karina Longworth puts into each episode is evident and the guest voice actors are always amazing. It'll make you want to watch a ton of the movies that are featured, and will have you searching out some of the books used for the research.
2. The Murder Squad podcast
I am always looking for more true crime podcasts and this one, hosted by Paul Holes and Billy Jensen, is a little unique in that it is being used as a way to get information out there about the cases that are featured in the hopes that new information may be found. It helps channel citizen sleuths by providing avenues to explore and does so responsibly by providing some important rules to be followed. The banter between Paul and Billy make this entertaining as well as informative, and their 'Weekly Distraction' segment has quickly become my favourite. 3. My Favorite Murder podcast
This podcast was on my year end list previously, and I expect that it will be plenty more times, but it is still my go to podcast. I eagerly anticipate the new episode that gets released on Thursday and still find Karen and Georgia just as relatable, and inspiring as when I first started listening. I may have initially been drawn in by the true crime, but am happy to have also found fellow Murderinos to talk to, and the entire community that has sprung up around this podcast.

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every Saturday.
Sunday post this week is thanks to the nasty end of summer cold I got this week. I was pretty much in bed for two days straight and am now behind on pretty much everything. I expect that I caught something on the flight back from Orlando. BOOK Cover of Undercover Bromance by Lyssa Kay Adams (goodreads)
The sequel to The Bromance Book Club recently had it's cover revealed and it is just as fun as I expected it would be. This entire series has me really excited and I cannot wait to read the The Bromance Book Club and begin eagerly anticipating this sequel.
The animated style covers that have been popular with romance novels recently are some of my faves! They're cute and offer up something a little different. TV/MOVIES American Horror Story: 1984 Trailer
The first official trailer for AHS: 1984 was recently released and it is giving me major slasher film vibes! I love the camp setting, and the obvious nods to some classic horror tropes.
I am expecting there to be two killers running around thanks to the casting reveal trailer BUT I think one is going to be more featured than the other. I cannot wait for the soundtrack this season!
The Aeronauts Trailer
Heights are not really my thing but this takes them to a whole new level. Some of the images are breathtaking and dizzying. I image it is going to look stunning in IMAX.
The plot also sounds interesting. I have no clue how accurate this is but I predict it'll be a fun, visually stunning film that will offer plenty of tense moments of the characters almost falling to their death.
Joker Final Trailer
This movie is going to be polarizing. It is going to have a bunch of strong opinions behind it (both for and against) and I predict there will be a ton written dissecting it. The trailer, however, indicates a beautifully shot, and incredibly acted movie. A, perhaps, controversial one.
We'll have to see what critics and fans think once it is released but I do like the grittier look of the trailer.
Joker Movie Poster
We also got a new poster to go along with the new trailer. We actually got a few but I love this new poster the most out of all of the new ones we got.
OTHER New Stranger Things Funkos
I enjoyed both Robyn and Alexi in this new season of Stranger Things. I was excited that Funko would be releasing Funko Pops for both of them in the next wave and both are featuring moments from the third season that are fan favourites.
What are you obsessed with this week? Let me know in the comments.
The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every Saturday.
Just a small post this week. I have pretty much been busy watching Stranger Things and not much else is going on.
TV/MOVIES Knives Out Trailer
I was intrigued by the casting in this movie and the fact that it was simply referred to as a 'classic whodunit'. Not much was released about the plot until the first trailer was revealed.
This trailer is really fun. Chris Evans looks like he is having a blast with this role. I looks like a fun mystery that, I think, will play well around USA Thanksgiving.
Stranger Things Season 3
I ended up watching the entirety of the third season in one day. It is, perhaps, the best season to date and filled with so many emotional moments. I don't want to give any spoilers, but I (mostly) loved all of the new characters. I will probably end up watching it at least once more and already cannot wait for season four.

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every Saturday.
The third season of Stranger Things is so close now! We're less than two weeks away and that means we're getting a TON of content. I am pretty much counting down the days until I can binge watch the third season and immediately want season four.
TV/MOVIES Final Trailer For Season Three Of Stranger Things
This trailer has A LOT going on. So much. I am very worried about a lot of the characters after watching the two trailers that have been released. I am fairly certain Billy isn't making it out of this season, but there may end up being more casualties.
I love how badass Eleven gets to be here. I am glad that they are recognizing Will's connection to the Upside Down. This trailer was very much focused on the action and it seems like Netflix gave them a pretty big budget.
First Look Photos For Little Women
A new adaptation of Little Women will be released at the end of 2019 and Vanity Fair just released some first look photos that have been really intrigued.
My favourite, of course, is this one of Jo and Laurie.
Both actors look amazing and I am hoping we get a trailer soon so I can see what this movie might look like.
OTHER Stranger Things Season Three Merchandise
As mentioned above the third season is quickly approaching and that means a ton of merchandise is being released. Target just unveiled a bunch of exclusive merchandise including these glasses.
I need an entire set. I love the Scoops Ahoy and Hawkins Pool ones so much. There is no Target's in Canada so if I can't get them shipped to me I may have to get my friend Kelly to get grab them and I'll get them next year when I see her at Book Expo.

Super small post this week! I am so close to leaving from Book Expo so that is taking up a lot of my focus! I cannot wait to head back to NYC.
BOOKS Cover of The Map From Here To There by Emery Lord (goodreads)
I am a huge fan of all of Emery Lord's books and was really excited when it was announced that The Start of Me and You was getting a sequel. The cover was just recently revealed and I LOVE IT!
It has a bunch of little nods to the first book and just looks like spring to me. I cannot wait to return to these characters and see what comes next for Paige and Max.
OTHER Baskin Robbins Partnering With Stranger Things
Rumours are all over the internet that Baskin Robbins will be teaming up with Stranger Things to offer some special ice cream flavors, Scoops Ahoy branding, and even an exclusive Funko Pop to help celebrate the third season. Photos of the exclusive Baskin Robbins Funko (which is Steve in his Scoops Ahoy uniform holding a banana split) are out there and pretty easy to find. I am not sharing because they are not my photos and nothing official has been revealed yet.
There are also going to be some Stranger Things themed treats on offer. The event is going to kick off in June sometime and run through July. I am especially excited about the new flavour (including USS Butterscotch) that come directly from the show. What better treat to enjoy while binge watching season 3. I'll share more details once this is all officially announced.

Renee Zellweger stars as Judy Garland in this upcoming bio pic and if the first trailer is any indication she'll be included in this year's Oscar talks.
It looks great and Renee's transformation is certainly impressive. I am looking forward to seeing more as the release date comes closer.
OTHER
Stranger Things Season 3 Funkos
Funko has released their first wave of Pops for season three and they are amazing!
I am going to need the Steve and Will ones for my collection! I love them both. These are just some of the ones in the new collection and you can see the rest over on the Funko blog.

Posting on a Sunday again! Lots to share this week in terms of movie/television trailers. BOOK Cover Of Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo (goodreads)
Leigh Bardugo's first adult novel just had its cover reveal and it is PERFECTION! I love the dark, unsettling vibe of this cover. It matches the synopsis perfectly and manages to be eye catching.
I have a feeling that this book is going to be talked about A LOT as the release date nears/right after release as I anticipate it'll be one of those books everyone is reading.
TV / MOVIE Once Upon A Time In Hollywood Trailer
I have been curious about this one since the premise was announced and I am really intrigued to see Margot Robbie as Sharon Tate.
We finally got our first look and I am a fan of the trailer not giving much away.
It's certainly fits the teaser trailer description but its enough to keep my interest piqued.
I also love the poster that was released (at least the Margot Robbie one).
She looks great and the poster certainly gives off a 70s feel.
Stranger Things Season 3 trailer
My reaction to this was incredibly embarrassing. It's my favourite show at the moment and I was just so happy to return to Hawkins (even if briefly via this teaser).
My main thoughts after watching this were: these kids are growing into teenagers really quickly, the music is amazing, IS BILLY TRANSFORMING INTO SOMETHING?!, WHY IS WILL CRYING?!, Steve and Dustin are still adorable, and I am entirely not okay with Steve getting injected with something! I loved our first look at the mayor (played by Cary Elwes) as well. Happy Fourth of July, indeed. I'll be binging this along with almost everyone else.
Lucy In The Sky Trailer
The true story that this is loosely based off of is one I am only sort of familiar with and the trailer doesn't hint too much at it so I am not going to spoil it, but it has the potential to be REALLY good.
Natalie Portman looks great in this. I sort of expect her to be in the conversation around awards season just based on the trailer alone. The movie is scheduled for a fall 2019 release which puts it in a good spot to gain some awards consideration.
What are you obsessed with this week? Let me know in the comments.
We are a week into 2019 and I figured now would be an excellent time to showcase the things in pop culture that I am most looking forward to this year. I am not going to discuss books because I had an entire event dedicated to showcasing some of the titles I am excited for in year to come. Today's post will focus on movies, television shows, and podcasts that I am looking forward to entertaining me this year.
PODCASTS
The podcast section will most likely be the shortest but there are a few things I am excited about. It is hard to predict what will be the next big thing and may podcasts do not announce themselves months in advance the way movies and television shows do.
1. Exactly Right
The podcast network started by Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark (aka the amazing ladies behind My Favorite Murder) has definitely got my attention. They launched late 2018 with some pre-established shows and are going to expand this year with some that they helped create specifically for the network. The exciting part for me? These have all been chosen with fans of My Favorite Murder in mind! I am fairly certain that one of these podcasts will quickly become a new obsession for me (and I have a feeling that Paul Holes may end up being the host of one of them).
2. Disgraceland Season 3
This is easily one of my favourite podcasts and I am so excited for it to return from hiatus in February. I cannot wait to see what musicians he features and what episodes will end up being my favourites.
TELEVISION
I could, again, list a bunch of television shows I am looking forward to in 2019, but I am going to keep this to my top five.
1. Stranger Things Season 3
It is probably no surprise that this made my list. It is the show I am most looking forward to in 2019! I gushed already about great the poster is and am (im)patiently waiting for a trailer!
2. I Am The Night
Patty Jenkins and Chris Pine once again team up for this limited series that seems to revolve around The Black Daliha.
The trailer is really gripping so I hope the show is as good as I think it is going to be.
3. Game Of Thrones (Final Season)
It's all been leading up to this final season! We're finally going to know who will sit on the Iron Throne at the end of it all. Winter is here!
4. Mindhunter Season 2
The second season is rumoured to feature both Ted Bundy and Charles Manson as Holden Ford and Bill Tench continue to interview serial killers and help solve cases. The Atlanta Child Killings are supposed to have a large focus and I expect that we'll have Cameron Britton's Ed Kemper show up again.
5. Fosse/Verdon
I saw this trailer during the Golden Globes and immediately wanted to watch this show. Both Michelle Williams and Sam Rockwell are great actors and this looks like a potential Emmy contender.
I love the way this trailer bounces from the obvious more dramatic elements, but also has the flair and fun of the dancing.
MOVIES
There are way too many movies on my list for 2019. Instead of listing every single one I figured I would keep it to a maximum of 10. As more and more movies are announced I am certain there will be some that end up my favourites that are not even on my radar this early in the year. The list is in no particular order other than by release month as it was easier.
I am also going to keep all of the Disney and Marvel movies off this list. It goes without saying that I am excited for them and it gives me a chance to spotlight other titles instead of a whole list featuring them.
1. Us (March 15th)
Anyone who has seen Get Out knows exactly why Jordan Peele's newest movie would be on this list!
The trailer is creepy and I am so intrigued by the entire premise! There is a lot of potential with the 'we're our own worst enemy' vibe that this movie has.
2. Wounds (March 29th)
I was intrigued by this one the instant I heard it was a New Orleans set thriller.
No trailer yet so I'll share the description provided on IMDB: Disturbing and mysterious things begin to happen to a bartender in New Orleans after he picks up a phone left behind at his bar.
3. Rocketman (May 31st)
This Elton John biopic seems to be offering a unique twist to the genre.
Taron Egerton looks great as Elton and I love the 'based on a true fantasy' tagline.
4. Once Upon A Time In Hollywood (July 26th)
There has not been much released for this one yet but I've been cautiously optimistic about it since the movie was announced. For those who may have missed what this one is about, here is the IMDB description.
A faded TV actor and his stunt double embark on an odyssey to make a name for themselves in the film industry during the Helter Skelter reign of terror in 1969 Los Angeles.
The true crime aspect of this movie was the hook, but I appreciate that the murders are going to be in the background. Plenty of movies have already been made about these crimes. It'll be interesting to see it from a different perspective.
5. The Goldfinch (October 11th)
This is based off the book by Donna Tartt and it seems to already be popping up on potential Oscar contenders lists. The IMDB page has this description:
A boy in New York is taken in by a wealthy Upper East Side family after his mother is killed in a bombing at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
It also caught my eye because it has Sarah Paulson in it. I am looking forward to seeing a trailer (and reading the book this year hopefully).
6. Last Christmas (November 15th)
This sounds like a fun holiday movie with a very charming cast! It also happens to be named after the famous song.
There isn't a description or much known about the movie other than it is a holiday romance set in London. It stars Emilia Clarke and Henry Golding which is enough to get me to go see it.
7. Queen and Slim (November 27th - rumoured)
Again, not much is known about this movie. It has a rumoured release date of November 27th and I was intrigued by the fact it stars Daniel Kaluuya whom I have loved in everything I have seen him in.
The IMDB and release date sound like potential Oscar bait to me:
A couple's first date takes an unexpected turn when a police officer pulls them over. 8. Knives Out (November 27th)
This one sounds like it could be a lot of fun. It's described as a modern murder mystery in a classic whodunit style (as per IMDB) and stars Chris Evans, Toni Collette, and Michael Shannon (to name a few).
9. Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile (release date unknown)
Our first glimpse of Zac Efron as Ted Bundy was enough to get me excited for this movie.
This tells the story from the point of view of Ted's girlfriend, Elizabeth Kloepfer, and her coming to terms with the fact he was a monster.
10. The Highwaymen (release date unknown)
I have always been fascinated by the story of Bonnie and Clyde. This movie seems to offer up a different point of view by focusing on the law enforcement who tried to apprehend them.
The description from IMDB reads:
A pair of police officers come out of retirement to catch the infamous outlaws Bonnie & Clyde.
There is, interestingly, no Bonnie or Clyde listed in the cast so we may not even see the infamous duo. This one has a rumoured release date of March 29th but I cannot find anything definitive.
What are you most looking forward to in 2019? Let me know in the comments! I am excited to add new books, shows, and movies to my list (and always love podcast recommendations) so I cannot wait to see what you're all excited about.
It's that time of the week again. Time to show you what bookish goodies
made their way into my home and book closet (to be saved from the evil
book eating cat monster named Aria). This is inspired by the various
"mailbox" posts out there (eg. In My Mailbox by The Story Siren, and
Stacking the Shelves by Tynga's Reviews)
I had a lot of fun arrivals into my mailbox this week. First up, I manged to get the Billy and Mrs Wheeler (Karen) Pop 2 pack that was a San Diego Comic Con exclusive. I love them!
The cookie! Her nightgown! The hair on Mrs Wheeler! They're adorable. Looking forward to seeing what season three is going to bring for both these characters.
My Happy Hello! bookmark addiction continues. I saw this adorable Peter Parker one and had to snag it. I love it so much! I am going to have to find a way to display these in my house.
SO cute right? I love her shop. Be sure to visit and snag some for yourself.
Lastly are some books I purchased recently. Idecided to grab some of these during Chapters free shipping offer. I wanted Any Man for the signing I was going to (and because it sounds amazing) and I could not pass up getting Carry On after finishing up Fangirl.
The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every Saturday.
BOOKS The Girls Podcast
Sadie by Courtney Summers is one of the most buzzed about books of the fall season. It's been compared to the wildly popular Serial podcast and is hitting right in the middle of this wave of popularity true crime based media is having right now.
This is, from what I understand, the podcast portion of the novel. The novel has different perspectives and one of them is this podcast that a guy is hosting. I love the idea of getting to hear it as well as reading it as part of the book. It's another way to layer the story. I am lucky enough to have a copy of this and I cannot wait to dive in. The podcast starts August 1st but you can subscribe now at Apple Podcasts or Stitcher.
TV/MOVIE American Horror Story Season 8 Theme
I always look forward to the theme reveal for the upcoming American Horror Story season. This one is supposed to be a Murder House/Coven crossover and I am so into it.
The official theme is Apocalypse and the first teaser image is TERRIFYING!
Excited that it is starting a little earlier this year. I cannot wait to see what cast members are returning and to learn more about how this image might relate to the plot of the season. Stranger Things Season 3 Teaser
Anything Stranger Things is immediately going to get me excited and this teaser is no exception. It teases a new location, a new job for everyone's favourite babysitter, and perhaps even a release date for the new season.
I really hope the mention of the new mall opening 'next summer' is not a clue to the release date of the third season. I am already pining for this show to return and another year wait would be rough.
Boy Erased Trailer
The trailers for all of the Oscar bait movies just keep coming. This one looks like it could have some real potential as well.
It filled me with a lot of rage but also made me think about the fact that places this like still exist in parts of the world.
Bohemian Rhapsody Trailer #2
"Ready, Freddie?" I liked the first trailer for Bohemian Rhapsody enough but this second one is incredible. I got chills a few times during this second one. I didn't know a mix of multiple Queen songs was something I wanted but apparently it is.
Goosebumps, right? Rami Malek looks stunning in this and I predict he'll be solid. I am still a little concerned because of all the directing drama that happened during the filming of this but I have a little more faith now that I've seen this trailer. The scene at the very end? You see the thrall Freddie Mercury and Queen put on the audience.
OTHER Murder With Friends Youtube Show (link)
My friend mentioned this Youtube show to me because of my interest in true crime and I immediately needed to check it out. It's an interesting show that feels like a discuss I would have with my friends.
The quick (most episodes are less than 20 minutes) make them perfect for binge watching. You'll fly through them pretty fast. The good thing is that there are quite a few to catch up on if you're just starting to watch.
One thing to note: They do tend to show crime scene photos during their episodes (with helpful warnings before) so just be aware of that if you do decide to check it out.
What are you obsessed with this week? Let me know in the comments.
The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every Saturday.
BOOK Cover of King Of Fools by Amanda Foody (goodreads)
I read and really enjoyed Amanda Foody's Ace Of Shades. I am so excited to read the sequel! The cover was just released and it, in my opinion, is even better than the one for Ace Of Shades.
The colour scheme is eye catching and it matches the first wonderfully. The tagline is also PERFECT for how Ace Of Shades left off.
TV/MOVIE The Hate U Give Trailer
I read The Hate U Give and, like pretty much everyone else, loved it. I was excited when they announced a movie was going to be made and am now even more excited after watching this trailer.
It is a great trailer. It packs just the right amount of punch and is filled with the emotions that the book invokes. I was also encouraged to see how close it seems to be sticking to the source material. The cast looks great (perhaps some Oscar nom potential) and I anticipate it'll be a huge box office hit. I cannot wait to go see it opening weekend.
Beautiful Boy Trailer
This movie has had some Oscar buzz for quite some time now and this trailer solidifies that it is going to be in the conversation at least.
It is emotional and Timothee Chalamet makes all of this look too easy. I can tell it is going to be a movie that will make me ugly cry in public and I am excited about it.
OTHER
Stranger Things San Diego Comic Con Exclusive Funko Pops
My Funko collection is pretty big. I particularly like collecting the Stranger Things line. I also look forward to the San Diego Comic Con exclusives being announced each summer. They had a Stranger Things line announced this year and I need all of the Pops from it.
The fact that the Billy Pop has a cookie is pretty much everything! Nancy's mom even has a little blush to her cheeks. The attention to detail is pretty amazing. How cute is the Snow Ball ready Dustin Pop? Adorable, right? Hopefully they are both shared with stores that will make it easy for me to get them.

A small Weekly Obessions post this week. I am looking forward to all of the movie trailers that are coming next week so expect it to be a little bigger next week!
BOOK
Cover Of Four Dead Queens by Astrid Scholte (goodreads)
I immedately loved the look of this cover and how eye catching it is. It also helps that the book sounds amazing (it just happens to now come in pretty packaging).
I really like the colour scheme of the cover. It makes the crowns stand out sharply against the backdrop.
TV/MOVIE A Simple Favor Teaser Trailer
This trailer pretty much shows next to nothing about the plot of this movie, but I am so in. It has a mystery at its core and seems like it
might be dark and twisty.
I look forward to seeing if the full trailer gives a little more insight into the plot. Either way I'll be going to see it when it's released.
OTHER ALA 2018
It is June so that means that I will be in New Orleans THIS MONTH! I am getting pretty excited. I cannot wait to see everyone, go on some ghost tours, and basically be surrounded by people who love books as much as I do!
Novelly Yours' Welcome To Hawkins Limited Edition Box (link)
My reaction when I came across the announcement that Novelly Yours was going to be releasing a Stranger Things themed box for June would not suprise anyone who follows this blog. It would be an understatement to say that I thrilled. A box full of amazing things inspired by my fave TV show? SIGN ME UP!
photo copyright @ Britany from Novelly Yours
I love my Friends Don't Lie candle from this shop and fully intend to try to snag one of these limited boxes. It comes with 5 candles (which is worth the price all on its own) and other goodies! Check out the link as I am sure there will be something you immediately want to buy. The Stranger Things box goes on sale soon for those who are interested!

"mailbox" posts out there (eg. In My Mailbox by The Story Siren, and

I had some pretty exciting arrivals this week in my mailbox. First up is a book from Penguin Random House. I decided to request this for review after seeing people rave about it. I like a good rom-com and this sounds especially adorable.
A huge thank you to Penguin Random House for sending it along. It's been added to my review schedule so expect a review in the next little bit.
Next up is a new Funko Pop that I added to my collection. It's Steve from Stranger Things when they go into the tunnels in season two. The white flecks in his hair is supposed to be ash (and it sort of sparkles in real life) and his trusty bat is in his backpack!
Steve quickly became a fan favourite (and personal fave) in season two so I was happy to see him added to the newest Stranger Things wave.
What bookish goodies made their way into your mailbox this week? Let me know in the comments.
The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every Saturday.
Not a whole lot to share this week. My attention was pretty much taken up by the fact that they arrested the Golden State Killer this week and all of the media attention surrounding it. However, there were still a few things that made me fangirl that I wanted to share. TV/MOVIES
Stranger Things Season 3 In Production
The official Stranger Things twitter revealed that production on the third season kicked off on April 20th with some new additions to the cast.
I am beyond excited for the third season so the fact that they are now actively working on it makes me very happy. I am also really excited to see Cary Elwes join the cast.
Trailer For Crazy Rich Asians
This looks like such a cute summer movie that is going to be exactly what I need to fight off superhero fatigue. Constance Wu and Henry Golding have some great chemistry in this first trailer and I laughed so much.
It looks funny, romantic, and filled with family drama which all make it a must see for me. Here's hoping it is as good as I am anticipating.
Movie Poster For Crazy Rich Asians
This poster is also super cute! I love the colour scheme and the bright pop of colour against that green background. It catches your eye immediately.
Constance Wu and Henry Golding are, once again, super adorable together. Is it August yet?

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every Saturday. BOOKS Red, White and Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston (goodreads)
This book was recently announced and I was immediately sold by the synopsis.
a joyous reimagining of 2019 in which the President of the United States is a woman and her son falls in love with the Prince of Wales. This is a romance of bacchanalian proportions.
What isn't there to love about this synopsis? It sounds like a fun, swoony read that has both a Prince and the son of the President. Let's also bask in the fact that it's a female President! I am all about this book and I cannot wait for it to be released. TV/MOVIES Cary Elwes Joins Stranger Things Many news outlets reported recently that Cary Elwes is joining the cast of Stranger Things for the third season. He'll be playing the Mayor of Hawkins. As a fan of The Princess Bride this news makes me really happy. I am so glad that the third season will be filming soon!
You Official Trailer
I have not read the book that this series is based off (at least not yet) but I am very intrigued by the premise. The first trailer is pretty much what I expected which leads me to believe I'll be into this show.
PennBadgleyis perfectly creepy in this and it has only made me even more excited to finally pick up this book. One of my bookclubs has this as a pick for May so I'll be diving in soon!

A few things to share this week! Not much was released in terms of book news, but there are some equally exciting things to share.
TV/MOVIES First Look At Sabrina and Harvey from The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina
Creator Roberto Aguirre Sacasa released (via his Twitter) the first image of the new Sabrina and Harvey from the Netflix show based off the comics titled The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. They are adorable and pretty perfect. I think I love Sabrina's entire outfit.
Is it just me or does Ross Lynch have a very Dane Dehaan vibe in this photo? I might just be the lighting/angle of the photo but that's all I keep thinking. I wasn't sure about the darker hair, but it works. I am super excited for this show!
Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights & Stranger Things
Every year Universal Studios unveils the pop culture properties that are to inspire their Halloween Horror Nights mazes and Stranger Things is the first one to be revealed.
Not going to lie, it immediately got me looking up flight prices in the month of October to Orlando. I am hoping I can make a trip happen (it'll depend on finding someone to go with) as I would love to experience this!
OTHER My Birthday Cake
My birthday passed recently and I had the most amazing birthday cake! I loved it so much!
It's very on brand for me, and looked even better in person. It's incredible and tasted as good as it looked.

People have raved about Courtney Summer's novels to me before. I have not read nearly as many of them as I should but I have read enough of them to know that her books are powerful, and her newest sounds like no exception.
Courtney's newest novel is being compared to the Serial podcast and sounds like it has a great murder mystery hook that will (most likely) also examine missing girls in general.
I also happen to love this cover. It's striking and eye catching while being very simple. I am super excited for this one as I think it is going to be one of the must reads of fall 2018 for a lot of people. When We Caught Fire by Anna Godbersen (goodreads)
Publisher's Weekly recently posted their Children's Books Fall 2018 Sneak Peek and this title caught my eye. It is described as "relating the fictional story of the love triangle that started Chicago’s Great Fire" which immediately intrigued me. I am looking forward to hearing more about this one when the Fall catalog is released.
Cover of The Dark Descent Of Elizabeth Frankenstein by Kiersten White (goodreads)
A creepy sounding book deserves a creepy cover and Kiersten White's newest has got one of the creepiest covers I've seen in a long time.
This Frankenstein retelling has a cover that looks, chillingly, like sewn skin (even if it is pink velvet). It instantly brings to mind the classic story of Frankenstein while the title tells you that it's something all together different.
I am excited to see what this version of Frankenstein does to twist and reimagine the story. I am so excited to get my hands on this one, and that amazing cover is just one of the reasons.
Cover of The Lady's Guide To Petticoats And Piracy (goodreads)
I loved The Gentleman's Guide To Vice and Virtue. I especially loved Monty's sister, Felicity, and was thrilled that she was getting her own novel!
The cover of that novel has recently been revealed, and it is amazing!
I love that it is both similar to Monty's cover and yet uniquely Felicity's at the same time. I cannot wait to see what adventures await Felicity and the new characters we are to meet! TV/MOVIE Jessica Jones Season Two Trailer
My love for Jessica Jones is well documented and I am very (im)patiently counting down the days until I can binge watch season two.
This newest trailer is doing nothing to make the wait any easier. It's even better than the first trailer that was released. It pretty much filled with everything I love about Jessica Jones - Jessica's snarky one liners, Trish being the kind of best friend we all want, and Jessica calling men out on their shit.
I love that this show calls out rape culture the way that it does. It was vital to season one because of the plot, but it is nice to see that it is still part of the show for its second season. March 8th isn't that far away right? *cries*
OTHER Grease Funko Pops
I am a huge fan of classic movies, and Grease is one of my favourites. It is a movie I remember vividly from my childhood and is one I still watch when I am feeling nostalgic.
I was excited when Funko announced during their huge batch of Toy Fair announcements that they would be making some Grease Funko Pops!
We get two different versions of Sandy and Danny and I am pretty sure I am going to need both of them. I also really want to see the back of the yellow dress Sandy as I am sure her hair is amazing.
More Stranger Things Funkos
Along with the above mentioned Grease announcement, Funko also announced some new Stranger Things Funko Pops that have me already clearing some room on my shelves.
I am, for sure, going to need both of the Steve Funkos, and that Eleven is pretty awesome. I may also have to add Billy to my collection, and who could resist Bob dressed a vampire (it certainly doesn't suck)? The details on these Funko Pops keep getting better and these are some of the best I have seen yet.

This synopsis immediately caught my attention when the deal was announced. I love the idea of the seasons as actual characters and especially love the idea of 'spring' and 'winter' falling in love.
a group of teens who, on the brink of death, are turned into immortal Seasons. Trapped in a vicious cycle of killing each other year after year, Winter and Spring—Jack and Fleur—fall in love, and must find a way to unite against nature and reclaim their free will.
I am really looking forward to finding out more about this book and for its release in 2019!
TV/MOVIE
Avengers: Infinity War Trailer
My initial reaction to this trailer was a bunch of nonsensical flailing with "BUCKY IS BACK" thrown in for good measure. I am so excited to see Winter Soldier is awake again and fighting by Steve's side again
In non Steve and Bucky reactions I love the glimpse of Thor meeting the Guardians of the Galaxy. I am terrified we're going to lose characters we love (Thanks, Thanos). Oh, and I love the brief glimpse we get at Peter's spidey sense. This movie is HIGH on my list for 2018 releses and I am already counting down the days until I get to see it. Stranger Things renewed for Season 3
I am sure it is no surprise to anyone that Netflix has renewed Stranger Things for a third season. No details on a release date or when filming will start but I am excited to return to Hawkins again. I am hoping for an October release date as Halloween was the perfect time to binge watch this show.
Mindhunter renewed for Season 2
I loved the first season of Mindhunter and was beyond excited when the official annoucement of it being renewed for a second season was posted by the show's Twitter account.
The casting on this show is perfect, and I hope they continue that with season two. Here is hoping that it releases Oct of 2018 so we don't have to wait too long.
Happy Halloween! If you're anything like me you might be debating what to do tonight. Halloween is on a weekday this year so most parties or events happened on the weekend. You might be looking forward to a nice evening in watching a scary movie, or reading a scary book between passing out candy to the trick-or-treaters that come to your door.
I am offering up a few of my personal recommendations for last minute Halloween entertainment.
If You're In The Mood For Something Not At All Scary I Recommend ....
It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown
It's a classic and perfect family viewing fun! It captures the spirit of Halloween without being scary.
Casper
I am specifically talking about the 1995 version that stars Christina Ricci. It's sweet, surprisingly romantic, and has plenty of humour.
If You're Looking For Something More Scary I Recommend ....
Practical Magic
A story of magic, sisterly bonds, and offers up the best use of the song 'This Kiss' in a movie ever. It's perfect for those wanting something a little bit darker but not really scary. Scream
My favourite scary movie. It's fun, scary, and is basically a love letter to the genre. It is one I make sure to watch every October because I love it that much.
The Craft
While may not scary in the traditional sense, this is a darker option for those wanting something with witches this Halloween. It's delightfully campy and is one of my favourite witch movies.
Stranger Things
This Netflix series is family friend, but with a darker vibe (maybe older children). It's filled with characters you'll fall in love with, 80s nostalgia, and is entirely charming. If you haven't watched this I highly recommend it.
There's Someone Inside Your House by Stephanie Perkins (goodreads)
Scream in book format is how I pretty much describe this one. It's both fun and unsettling. It's a great one to pick up if you're looking for something with the same vibe as Scream but with Stephanie's addictive writing.
A boy worries that he'll end up being exactly like his serial killer father in this creepy, and entirely addictive read. It's a three book series which means you'll have something to look forward to during the dreary month of November if you start this series on Halloween.
If You (like me) Are More Scared By Real Events Than Anything Hollywood Could Come Up With I I Recommend .....
Mindhunter
This Netflix show focuses on the start of what we now call criminal profiling. Two detectives begin to interview jailed serial killers when they realized the information from these interviews could provide scientific merit. It's a great character study of both the detectives and the serial killers. It's also a book (for those who would rather read)
This is a fast read that focuses on Jeffrey Dahmer as a middle school/ high school student told through the perspective of someone who was friendly with Jeffrey during this time. It's graphic novel format would also be perfect for constant interruptions (to answer the door).
Those are my picks for your Halloween entertainment this evening. What are some of yours? Let me know in the comments as I am always excited to find more spooky books, movies, and television shows to add to my list.
