Lizzie Pre-Order Campaign Annoucement

If you're a frequent visitor to the blog you will know that I have read and loved all of Dawn Ius' novels. Her newest, Lizzie,  comes out April 10th and I am thrilled to help reveal the pre-order campaign for this amazing book.

First, here is the Goodreads synopsis in case you're not familiar with the book:
Seventeen-year-old Lizzie Borden has never been kissed. Polite but painfully shy, Lizzie prefers to stay in the kitchen, where she can dream of becoming a chef and escape her reality. With tyrannical parents who force her to work at the family’s B&B and her blackout episodes—a medical condition that has plagued her since her first menstrual cycle—Lizzie longs for a life of freedom, the time and space to just figure out who she is and what she wants.

Enter the effervescent, unpredictable Bridget Sullivan. Bridget has joined the B&B’s staff as the new maid, and Lizzie is instantly drawn to her artistic style and free spirit—even her Star Wars obsession is kind of cute. The two of them forge bonds that quickly turn into something that’s maybe more than friendship.

But when her parents try to restrain Lizzie from living the life she wants, it sparks something in her that she can’t quite figure out. Her blackout episodes start getting worse, her instincts less and less reliable. Lizzie is angry, certainly, but she also feels like she’s going mad…
Amazing, right?! The Lizzie Borden case has always fascinated me, and if you'r into true crime inspired novels I highly recommend this one.

Dawn has crafted a special thank you gift for those who pre-order the book. Anyone who emails dawniuspreorders@gmail.com with a copy of their receipt (and mailing address) before April 9th at midnight EST will receive the following:

1- a signed book plate
2- this Lizzie Borden paper doll

I have read Lizzie and this is SO perfect. I immediately wanted one of these for myself when I saw the finished product.

That is not all though. Each person who pre-orders will also be put into a draw for a grand prize giveaway. One lucky winner will receive the following:

-Lizzie bookmarks
-recipe card (featuring a recipe that was a specialty of the real Lizzie Borden)
-a signed copy of both Overdrive and Anne & Henry
-an assortment of other Lizzie Borden inspired items

You can pre-order from your preferred retailer, and this is open internationally. Remember to have it in before April 9th at midnight EST to be eligible.

Weekly Obsessions

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every Saturday.

BOOK

The Names They Gave Us Pre-order Goodies

I love buttons and am always excited to get bookish buttons as a pre-order perk. Bloomsbury is offering up a pre-order incentive for Emery Lord's newest book. I have read The Names They Gave Us and can verify that these buttons are 100 percent perfect for the upcoming novel.

Be sure to visit the Bloomsbury site for this pre-order incentive to get more details and snag your own set of buttons. I have already claimed my own set and cannot wait for it to arrive.

TV/MOVIE

Spiderman: Homecoming poster

I love everything about this poster. Everything. The obviously self made Spidey suit. The earphones. The Avengers building in the background. All of it.

I have high hopes for this movie, and this poster makes me VERY hopeful. They are going for a very youthful Peter Parker in this movie. A Peter Parker who is actually a teenger and that is evident in every single aspect of this poster.

New To My Book Closet

It's that time of the week again. Time to show you what bookish goodies made their way into my home and book closet (to be saved from the evil book eating cat monster named Aria). This is inspired by the various "mailbox" posts out there (eg. In My Mailbox by The Story Siren, and Stacking the Shelves by Tynga's Reviews)

Lots of exciting things arrived in my mailbox this week.

First up, my pre-order goodies from Bloomsbury for the Sarah J Maas books that were released recently. I love the notebook and the colouring pencils are a great idea!

Next up is a thank you gift from Raincoast Books for taking part in the Heartless blog tour! Check back later for more details on that tour and my stop!

Seriously, this mug is my new favourite. I love it immensely. A huge thank you to Raincoast Books (especially Melissa) for sending this along.

Lastly, I was looking for something to store my lipstick in and once I saw this I HAD to have it. It matches my Peter Pan one and is pretty much perfect for me.

This is inspired by the various "mailbox" posts out there (eg. In My Mailbox by The Story Siren, and Stacking the Shelves by Tynga's Reviews).

Lots of amazing things arrived in my mailbox this week!

First, I got my pre-order postcards from Bloomsbury for their When We Collided pre-order campaign. They are amazing and I intend on framing them to hang in my apartment.

When We Collided by Emery Lord (goodreads)

Next, I received my April #otspsecretsister box. It was filled with 80's candy, an amazing feather pen, and a book I am super curious about along with some fun post-it notes. A huge thank you to 'Tink' for this!

A Night In With Audrey Hepburn by Lucy Holliday (goodreads)

This is a book I already owned, but I had to get the movie-tie in edition, obviously. I cannot wait to see this movie and I love the movie poster.

Me Before You by Jojo Moyes (goodreads)

Weekly Obsessions

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every Saturday.

A new year and a bunch of amazing things have already been revealed/announced. 2016 is shaping up to be incredible for fans of books, movies, and TV! Here are some of the things I am obsessed with this week...

BOOK

Cover for Marissa Meyer's Heartless (goodreads)

I have been really excited about this title since I first heard about it. I am really excited that we have a cove for it now, and that it also happens to be a fantastic cover.

Stunning right? I love how it reminds me of the Queen of Hearts but is clearly THIS version of the Queen of Hearts. I cannot wait to see what turns her into the Queen we love to hate in Alice in Wonderland (and for all the other Wonderland characters who will make an appearance).

TV/MOVIE

Bates Motel Season 4 Premiere Date

Very excited that Bates Motel will return on March 7th. I cannot wait to check back in and see the incredible performance that, I am sure, Freddie Highmore will give. If you're not already obsessed with this show make sure you catch up in time for the new season.

Finn Wittrock's dual roles in Abe

Forbes announced that Finn Wittrock has signed on to play two roles in a new movie entitled Abe. One character is a sexy rock-star bad boy  named Logan, and the other is a sexy (because Finn Wittrock) introvert named Abe who spends most of his time playing video games. The catch? Logan only exists in Abe's imagination. Apparently they were going to cast two different actors for the roles until Finn auditioned for both. To say that I am excited for this movie is an understatement. I am already desperate for a trailer and more details.

OTHER

Emery Lord's When We Collided pre-order campaign

I have already devoured and loved Emery Lord's newest novel. Vivi and her story are unforgettable. It's a beautifully written, thoughtful book and I was ridiculously thrilled to see this pre-order campaign pop up. How amazing are these postcards?!

Visit Bloomsbury's Twitter account for details on how to submit your receipt to secure your own set of these amazing postcards! I am so excited to have already submitted mine. You won't want to miss this incredible book.

Weekly Obsessions

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every Saturday.

BOOK

Cover of Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard (goodreads)

So Kneel Or Bleed is my new favourite. Such an AMAZING tagline. The mixture of red and silver blood is also a delightful touch. I love that the covers in the series are similar so that my collection matches. They first and second books are going to look amazing together on bookshelves.

Dumplin' pre-order campaign (goodreads)

I have it on good authority that Dumplin' is amazing. It's one you're going to want to read. 100%. So maybe take advantage of this amazing pre-order campaign since you'll be getting a copy anyway.

If you live in the USA (or have a USA address you can use) simply follow the instructions found on Julie Murphy's Tumblr after pre-ordering your copy of Dumplin' and she'll send you one of these shiny, adorable pins!

Photo from Julie Murphy's Tumblr

Cute right? The above photo is found on Julie's Tumblr to advertise the pre-order campaign kick off!

Blood and Salt pre-order campaign (goodreads)

If romance and horror are more your thing.... check out this amazing chance to see how a novel changes from draft to final in this pre-order being offered by Kim Liggett.

This requires a purchase from a particular store (McNally Jackson) but the 50 page look at the publishing process is more than a little tempting.

Cover for Suffer Love by Ashley Herring Blake (goodreads)

I love this colour scheme. I also like the current trend of not showing people's faces on covers. This one has a dreamy, almost romantic quality to it, but there is more than a hint of darkness here too. It's an eye catching cover for what I've heard is a fantastic read.

TV/MOVIE

Peaky Blinders

I pretty much adore Cillian Murphy and think he's a phenomenal actor.Peaky Blinders has a very Boardwalk Empire like feel to it, and I am already hooked after 2 episodes.
