Here is the Goodreads synopsis
Nicholas Arthur Frederick Edward Pembrook, Crowned Prince of Wessco, aka His Royal Hotness, is wickedly charming, devastatingly handsome, and unabashedly arrogant; hard not to be when people are constantly bowing down to you.

Then, one snowy night in Manhattan, the prince meets a dark haired beauty who doesn't bow down. Instead, she throws a pie in his face.

Nicholas wants to find out if she tastes as good as her pie, and this heir apparent is used to getting what he wants.

Dating a prince isn't what waitress Olivia Hammond ever imagined it would be.

There's a disapproving queen, a wildly inappropriate spare heir, relentless paparazzi, and brutal public scrutiny. While they've traded in horse drawn carriages for Rolls Royces, and haven't chopped anyone's head off lately, the royals are far from accepting of this commoner.

But to Olivia, Nicholas is worth it.

Nicholas grew up with the whole world watching, and now Marriage Watch is in full force. In the end, Nicholas has to decide who he is and, more importantly, who he wants to be: a King... or the man who gets to love Olivia forever.
The daydream of becoming a princess by marrying a prince that many young girls have gets a sexy overhaul in Royally Screwed. It offers a fun, sexy, and drama filled take on a prince falling for a 'commoner' and was an entirely delightful reading experience.

Nicholas is my favourite kind of 'alpha male' character archetype. He is protective without being overbearing about it. He is witty without being annoying, and uses just the right amount of sexual innuendo. All of this and there isn't a growl or possessive declaration to be seen. I normally am not a fan of characters who are 'alpha male' but I am in this particular case.

Olivia is smart, capable, and sacrificing. She is fiercely loyal to her family and has willingly put some aspects of her life on hold to help out her family. A lot of this story is her finding out what she might want, and to allow others to help out with things. She is a take charge kind of girl, and that means she would rather do things on her own. It was nice that she had things outside of Nicholas and the romance story going on.

The romance is the perfect blend of sexy and sweet. The sexy scenes are blush worthy and the sweet gestures are plentiful. The romance is, obviously, the focus but is balanced with outside storylines to create a richer, more enjoyable read. This is classic rom-com in book format though, complete with the necessary drama that the couple must work through in order to achieve their happily ever after.

The side characters are equally great. I loved Franny, the wife of Nicholas' friend Simon. She's more shrewd and calculating than Olivia is, but she is exactly the kind of person you want on your side. .Ellie, Olivia's younger sister, is all kind of hilarious and sweet. She cares about her older sister and wants what is best for her. There are plenty of other characters that help bring this story alive, and they each leave you hoping you'll see them in future novels.

Speaking of side characters, I could not complete this review without mentioning Henry. Henry is Nicholas' brother (also known as the 'wildly inappropriate spare' from the synopsis above) and the more wild of the two. His scandalous behaviour will bring to mind another Prince whose name also starts with an H. I wanted much more of Henry by the end of the novel. He is immediately loveable and his antics are anything but dull.

There are companion novels, but based on the events of this first book, they should be read in order. They would, probably, make sense read out of order but the events of this book highly impact the second in a way that is pretty spoilery.

If you're looking for some good spring/summer romance recommendations I highly recommend this one. You'll fall for Nicholas and Olivia's love story and definitely want to pick up the next novel in this companion style series. If you enjoyed The Prince and Me, and The Princess Diaries and would love something that puts a sexy twist to them, I think you'll love this book as much as I do.
