Weekly Obsessions

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every Saturday.

Here are my obsessions this week:

BOOKS

Third Book In The Royal Circle trilogy by Katherine Longshore

We have a title!! BRAZEN will be the final book in the trilogy, and I can not wait for more details. Details, and a synopsis will be coming from Penguin shortly, and I can't wait. I am curious to learn more about the main character, and what events may be woven into the story based on the timing. Be sure to add it to your Goodreads to get all the details when available.

Dangerous Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl

The Castor Chronicles is getting a spin off! Ridley and Link are taking centre stage in this New York City set companion series to Beautiful Creatures. I am excited to see what's next, and this gives me an excuse to finish the first series ASAP! You can add this to your Goodreads, and check out the full synopsis.

Dorothy Must Die by Danielle Paige

A Wizard of Oz where Dorothy is not the hero? SIGN ME UP! Deadline, who announced that the CW has optioned this for a TV Show described the  book/show this way
the magically-ever-youthful Dorothy has stayed in Oz, presiding over a now fascist fairyland with her perfectly manicured iron fist and the help of her henchmen - the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, and the Cowardly Lion. But when another young woman from Kansas is swept up in a tornado and magically dropped into this war-torn Oz, our hero discovers a revolutionary underground of witches and enchanted beings only to learn that she is destined to lead their people in the fight to reclaim Oz from a power-hungry Dorothy's ruthless clutches.
Yup, pretty much LET ME HAVE IT NOW! I am going to be really excited when this comes out in April 2014. This one has flown under the radar a little, but I expect that is about to change. Also, keep an eye out for this in my 2014 Most Antcipated Reads event *wink* . If you haven't already, be sure to add it to your Goodreads.

Cover of Sisters' Fate by Jessica Spotswood

I love this series, so much. The last book ripped my heart out, and left me a mess when all was said and done. I am dying to get my hands on this one. The last little bit of the synopsis? SHIVERS! *Obvious spoilers for the first two books in the series in the synopsis, so tread carefully*. I am also in love with this cover. The colours are so pretty.

TV/MOVIE

Dexter Series Finale

We're saying goodbye to Dexter. This makes me sad. Watching the following teaser for end made me anxious and terrified as to what is going to happen.

Dexter saying "This is all my fault" and the FBI closing in on Hannah! EEEP! Poor little Harrison better have a happy ending in all of this, that's all I am saying.

Weekly Obsessions

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every Saturday.

Here are my obsessions this week:

BOOKS

Cover of Jenny Han's To All The Boys I've Loved Before

Cute, and a fun sounding (seriously, read the synopsis) contemporary. Pretty sure the main character is going to be awesome, and I love the tones/colours used for the cover.

Cover of Lauren DeStefano's Perfect Ruin

Lauren's covers usually offer major clues to the plot of the novels. I love the synopsis of this Utopian novel and can't wait to read my copy. The cover is eye catching, and I expect is offers a few hidden clues about what is in store for the characters.

TV

Friday Night Lights

This is a running theme, obviously. If you haven't met Tim Riggins, Matt Saracen, and the Taylors - YOU NEED TO FIX THIS IMMEDIATELY. It's one of those shows that inspires you to write, but at the same time, makes you realize you will never write something that beautiful EVER. I've become so invested in these characters that the littlest things make me cry. If you've been putting off watching this, DO IT!

Dexter

The final season of Dexter starts this Sunday. It's strange, but I am going to have a hard time saying goodbye to Dex, Deb, and the rest. I hope Deb finally finds a happy ending. I hope little Harrison ends up safe and loved (whatever happens to Dexter). A part of me even hopes for a happy ending for Dexter himself (even if unrealistic).

OTHER

Secret Blog Things

So Christy (from The Reader Bee), Kelly (from KellyVision) and I are working on something that I think is pretty awesome. Details are coming soon and expect the first installment of this new feature to take place in August. I am really looking forward to this!

Weekly Obsessions

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every Saturday.

Here are my obsessions this week:

BOOKS

Suzanne Collins Writing New Teen Series

At Book Expo America 2013 Suzanne Collins announced that she'll be writing a new teen series. Super excited for more details. Hypable has a fantastic write up with details that have been released if you are looking for more information.

The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon

Finished this recently and loved it. I will save most of gushing for my review, but suffice to say, it's brilliant. Smart, complex and her world building left me breathless. I NEED book two immediately. I think this is going to by a mighty popular series come August when it's officially released. So thankful to be an advocate of this amazing book/series.

MOVIE

Now You See Me

I got to see this while in NYC for Book Expo and LOVED it. It's fun, and completely what a summer movie should be. It's entertaining and doesn't take itself seriously. Jesse Eisenburg and Mark Ruffalo's interigation scene is PERFECT and totally my favourite. Also, those of you already crushing on Dave Franco...you'll walk way with a summer obsession.

TV

Summer TV

I am always sad to see my Fall TV faves end. However, I am getting super excited about the shows that will be back this summer. The Killing, Dexter, and True Blood all start (or recently started) and I am very much looking forward to them. True Blood was a bit of a disappointment last season but I am hopeful that this season will be better (plus I can never say no to watching Ryan Kwanten). I have high expectations for the final season of Dexter. The Killing is a smart, slowly paced (meaning VERY realistic) crime drama and I personally loved the first two season. I can't wait to see what case Linden and Holder will be working on this time.

Weekly Obsessions

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every Saturday.

Here are my obsessions this week:

BOOKS

Katherine Longshore's book 2 news

I was VERY excited to hear that book 2 in the Royal Circle series has a title! We also have character details! The novel is titled Tarnish. The most exciting part, in my opinion, is that it features a young Anne Boleyn. *Crazy fangirl flailing*. Anne happens to not only be my favourite of Henry's wives, but she is fascinating and this sounds like it focuses on a totally different aspect from the usual - no beheadings! I think you could safely get at least 2 books out of Anne's story and hope that the last book focuses on the later part of her life, and Anne's heartbreaking fate. I am beyond excited to see what Katherine does with Anne's story! Can it just be Summer 2013 already?!

Gayle Forman's Just One Day

I read the Goodreads synopsis and immediately started pining for this book. The cover was just released and I think it fits the synopsis rather well. I am fully expecting to swoon over Willem.

TV

Sunday Night

Those two words make me oh so happy. This Sunday a lot of my favourite shows come back. Once Upon A Time, Revenge and Dexter are all premiering that night. I have heard that the Once Upon A Time and Dexter premieres are INTENSE and nothing short of awesome. Revenge never fails to satisfy so I am confident that will also be an excellent hour of television. I am SO glad it's autumn right now.

OTHER

The Burn for Burn Tour

I made the long trek to Toronto for Jenny Han and Siobhan Vivian's signing. I will be showing the awesome Burn for Burn tour poster they gave out, as well as other fun stuff, tomorrow in my mailbox post. I had an amazing time at the event. Both Jenny and Siobhan are so sweet, and seemed quite touched that we all turned out. I got to my the lovely tweeter behind the Simon Pulse Canada twitter as well. I missed meeting so many bloggers, but it was a really fast trip. I came back exhausted, but SO excited that I went.

Weekly Obsessions

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every Saturday.

Short and sweet this week. I have been working like a crazy person and therefore haven't had time to obsess over anything! Here are my obsessions this week:

BOOKS

Scarlet by Marissa Meyer

I am a couple of chapters until the end of this book (and will be done tonight) and I am so impressed. I love Scarlet and Wolf so much. I may even love this one more than I loved Cinder! Wolf is a total book crush that I predict will make a lot of crush lists at the end of the year.

TV

Dexter Season 7 Promo

MAJOR SPOILERS FOR SEASON 6!

This promo....OMG! So much I want to talk about but can't because it's such a spoiler for season 6. This season looks to be one of the best Dexter seasons yet! If you have not watched this show, DO IT! Michael C Hall is brilliant.

OTHER

Vacation

As mentioned above this has been the longest week EVER for me. I am so looking forward to my vacation next week. I am having a relaxing week filled with sleeping, reading and visiting with my family.
