Best of 2012 - Top 5 Swoon Worthy Guys
As the end of the year comes near I thought it might be fun to do some Best of 2012 lists. These won't be every day, and so far I only have two planed.
This list is all about the guys. I am going to list my top 5 most swoon worthy guys of 2012.
1 Noah from The Evolution of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin
Noah made my list last year, and is on it again this year. His British accent, disheveled appearance, and how much he loves Mara all make him a strong contender for most swoon worthy book guy of 2012.
2 Will from Masque of the Red Death by Bethany Griffin
Tattoos can be sexy, and Will makes them work. His heart of gold, and rugged appearance, and tousled hair make him pretty swoon worthy.
3 Ash from Black City by Elizabeth Richards
Sensual, and seductive describes Ash perfectly. A little bit bad, but caring underneath make him a perfect addition to this list.
4 Wolf from Scarlet by Marissa Meyer
While I think the other new character, Carswell Thorne, will win over a majority of people and be on a lot of 2013 lists, Wolf won my heart. He's a conflicted character and those are always the most appealing.
5 Willem from Just One Day by Gayle Forman
Since this book isn't out, and I don't want to spoil anything I am going to keep this brief. He is going to be on a lot of these lists next year after this book is released! Trust me. He's very swoon worthy.
So there are my top 5 most swoon worthy guys for this year. Who would make your list? Let me know in the comments!

Why I am voting for Noah Shaw
The YA Sisterhood is currently hosting a Crush Tourney! All our favourite book guys competing for the title of ultimate book crush.
I am firmly supporting Noah Shaw, from Michelle Hodkin's The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer.
Here I share my top 5 reasons for voting for him. His match is today and hopefully I can sway some of you to vote for him as well.
His official advocate is Amanda from Stuck in YA Books and I would also like to point you in the direction of her lovely post advocating him! You can vote by visiting the YA Sisterhood website.
My top 5 reasons -
1 He is kind to animals. Sure, this may not seem like a huge deal, but I am firm believer that you can tell a lot about someone from how they treat animals.
2 "I hear her before I see her. She stands in the crowd; with her curves wrapped in emerald silk and her dark hair in luscious curls, Mara looks like a pin-up I want to unpin." Now picture this in a British accent. Pretty sure you're running off to vote already.
3 His treatment of Mara - He is always there for her. She's going through a lot and he does everything he can to help her. He stands up for her when people are making fun of her, helps her family, and is someone she can confide in.
4 His sense of humour. He's funny, and his humour is a little on the sarcastic side. There is something pretty sexy about a guy that can make you laugh.
5 Michelle has promised to share one scene from Noah's point of view if he wins. See #2 above. If you want teasers for the other scenes she may share, you can find those on Michelle's website.
Go forth and vote for Team Shaw!

Book Boyfriends!
It's time for another post highlighting some of those delicious boys in books that make us swoon. Here are six that I am swooning over now.
Noah Shaw
Where you can find him - The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin
Why he is swoon worthy - His British accent comes to mind. Oh, and the fact that he's gorgeous, has a 'bad boy' attitude, and enough charm to captivate ANYONE.
Favourite Quote -
“What would you do if I kissed you right now?"
I stared at his beautiful face and his beautiful mouth and I wanted nothing more than to taste it. "I would kiss you back.”

Cricket Bell
Where you can find him - Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins
Why he is swoon worthy - He's sweet, caring, and adorakably cute. He's the type of guy that will give his girl the stars and the moon. His willingness to wait for Lola makes everyone swoon.
Favourite Quote -
“Once upon a time, there was a girl who talked to the moon. And she was mysterious and she was perfect, in that way that girls who talk to moons are. In the house next door, there lived a boy. And the boy watched the girl grow more and more perfect, more and more beautiful with each passing year. He watched her watch the moon. And he began to wonder if the moon would help him unravel the mystery of the beautiful girl. So the boy looked into the sky. But he couldn't concentrate on the moon. He was too distracted by the stars. And it didn't matter how many songs or poems had already been written about them, because whenever he thought about the girl, the stars shone brighter. As if she were the one keeping them illuminated.
One day, the boy had to move away. He couldn't bring the girl with him, so he brought the stars. When he'd look out his window at night, he would start with one. One star. And the boy would make a wish on it, and the wish would be her name.
At the sound of her name, a second star would appear. And then he'd wish her name again, and the stars would double into four. And four became eight, and eight became sixteen, and so on, in the greatest mathematical equation the universe had ever seen. And by the time an hour had passed, the sky would be filled with so many stars that it would wake the neighbors. People wondered who'd turned on the floodlights.
The boy did. By thinking about the girl.”
Four
Where you can find him - Divergent by Veronica Roth
Why he is swoon worthy - A little rough and capable of taking care of himself. The hottest thing about him is that he doesn't handle Tris with kid gloves. He wants to push her and have her take care of herself, yet he can be protective too.
Favourite Quote -
"My first instinct is to push you until you break, just to see how hard I have to press." he says, his fingers squeezing at the word break. My body tenses at the edge in his voice, so I am coiled as tight as a spring, and I forget to breathe.
His dark eyes lifting to mine, he adds, "But I resist it."
"Why..." I swallow hard. "Why is that your first instinct?"
"Fear doesn't shut you down; it wakes you up. I've seen it. It's fascinating." He releases me but doesn't pull away, his hand grazing my jaw, my neck. "Sometimes I just want to see it again. Want to see you awake.”
Vincent Delacroix
Where you can find him - Die For Me by Amy Plum
Why he is swoon worthy - He speaks French. Enough said right? If that didn't tempt you he also happens to be incredibly romantic, and protective.
Favourite Quote-
“I have to warn you that my bedroom isn't the best place to stage an assault on me. It's where I'm at my weakest, with my bed a mere twenty feet away.”
Bram Griswold
Where you can find him - Dearly, Departed by Lia Habel
Why he is swoon worthy - He's a true gentleman, and happens to be a soldier too! He's caring, patient and incredibly sweet with Nora.
Favourite Quote-
"The fact that she made this beeline for me both warmed my soul and made me want to turn around, walk out the door, and find a cliff to fling myself off of.”

Etienne St Clair
Where you can find him - Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins
Why he is swoon worthy - His sense of humour, the accent, his ability to be both adorable and frustrating at the same time. There's also his willingness to overcome his fears for the one he loves.
Favourite Quote -
“I'm a little distracted by this English French American Boy Masterpiece.” *Ok, so he doesn't say it, but it's about him.*

Team Mara...and Why You Should Be Too!

You may have heard about a little tournament going on right now. It's being hosted by YA Sisterhood. A tournament all about selecting the best YA heroine. Mara's official advocate is Casey from The Bookish Type.
Lori from Pure Imagination asked for members of Team Mara to help take part in special Mara Mondays post.
You may remember I did a week long blog event dedicated to how AWESOME this novel (and Mara) is so, of course, I am Team Mara.
Here is why I am voting Dyer and why you should too!
1 She's the heroine you can relate to. She's not perfect, but nobody is perfect. She's the heroine for those of us that are a little different, and unique.
2 She loves animals. Not only does she love them, but she saves animals in distress. She happens to save them in a pretty epic way as well.
3 They say you can tell a lot about a person by the people they choose to be around. If that's true, Mara must be awesome because her best friend Jamie is pretty much the best.
4 A heroine always thinks of others. Mara always thinks of her family, and what her actions might do to them. She is especially concerned about her younger brother and the impact things would have on him. She also worries about what she is capable of doing to others.
5 She gave us the term "ass crown". Her colourful language in general is a plus.
6 She's strong. I don't mean physically (although....*spoilers* she can cause some damage) but she went through a lot. It's impressive that she is even functioning.
7 She doesn't make excuse or apologize for who she is. She's not in the popular crowd at school, and she is definitely OK with that.
8 She is capable of holding her own in a banter contest (see #5). She is witty, has a spark, and isn't afraid to stand her ground.
9 She leaves you wanting more. We don't know everything there is to know about Mara. She has a little mystery. It's part of what makes her awesome.
10 Lastly, because Noah Shaw would. Doing what Noah wants is pretty much going to happen anyway, you'll be too distracted by his hotness to put up a fight.
So with this I hope you'll vote on Dec 16...
