New To My Book Closet

It's that time of the week again. Time to show you what bookish goodies made their way into my home and book closet (to be saved from the evil book eating cat monster named Aria). This is inspired by the various "mailbox" posts out there (eg. In My Mailbox by The Story Siren, and Stacking the Shelves by Tynga's Reviews).

This week's mailbox is filled with awesome titles.

I was lucky and won Lindsay (from Me on Books)'s 2 year blogiversary giveaway. I selected Immortal City by Scott Speer. I also borrowed Spark by Brigid Kemmerer from Emilie (from Emilie's Book World).

Immortal City by Scott Speer (goodreads)
Spark by Brigid Kemmerer (goodreads)

I also received an eARC for review from Netgalley and SmartPop.

Shadowhunters and Downworlders by various authors (goodreads)

Happy Sunday and Happy Reading!

Waiting on Wednesday...Spark

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

My pick this week is Spark by Brigid Kemmerer

Here is the Goodreads synopsis
Gabriel Merrick plays with fire. Literally.
Sometimes he can even control it. And sometimes he can’t. Like the fire that killed his parents.
Gabriel has always had his brothers to rely on, especially his twin, Nick. But when an arsonist starts wreaking havoc on their town, all the signs point to Gabriel. Only he’s not doing it.
More than Gabriel’s pride is at stake -- this could cost him his family, maybe his life. And no one seems to hear him. Except a shy sophomore named Layne, a brainiac who dresses in turtlenecks and jeans and keeps him totally off balance. Layne understands family problems, and she understands secrets. She has a few of her own .
Gabriel can’t let her guess about his brothers, about his abilities, about the danger that’s right at his heels. But there are some risks he can’t help taking.
The fuse is lit…
After the awesome first book in this series, Storm, I am so excited for this one. The realistic brother relationship and exciting action are just two things I am excited to get back to. Oh and Brodie's review has me going insane waiting to read this!

Expected release date - August 28, 2012
