New To My Book Closet

It's that time of the week again. Time to show you what bookish goodies made their way into my home and book closet (to be saved from the evil book eating cat monster named Aria). This is inspired by the various "mailbox" posts out there (eg. In My Mailbox by The Story Siren, and Stacking the Shelves by Tynga's Reviews).

The Ottawa Blogettes had their Christmas party/Secret Santa/general awesomeness this weekend. We also did a secret book exchange (where you wrap up a book so nobody knows what it is, and you each randomly pick one of the packages). Here is what I got...

Saving Francesca by Melina Marchetta (goodreads)

The book was brought to our book exchange party by Ciara and I am super excited to read Saving Francesca! I've heard nothing but amazing things.

My secret Santa was Kim (from Pingwing's Bookshelf) and her gift is amazing.

Yes, that is a Beauty and the Beast mug. It is adorable and perfect. And yes, that is a Little Mermaid mirror that says "Go on and kiss the girl" on it. Love! Love! Love!

Happy weekend, and happy reading!

Weekly Obsessions

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every Saturday.

A short and sweet one this week.

BOOK

Kobo Aura H20

Kobo has basically created the best thing ever. I love to read by the pool, or in the bath with a glass of wine. I've always been cautious about using my Kobo around water,  but now Kobo's created an ereader that is waterproof. It's basically the most perfect ereader ever.

Amazing right? I totally want to get one (never mind that I already have a Kobo). It goes on sale in Oct, but is already available for pre-order starting September 1st if you're as excited as I am.

TV/MOVIE

The Riot Club trailer

I stumbled across this trailer, and am now obsessed. The cast? Filled with hot guys with English accents. The trailer? Super intense. I would read the heck out of a YA novel version of this, and it just looks amazing. Sex, drugs, murder, and an exclusive club? Just take my money already.

OTHER

David's Tea fall tea collection

Fall is my favourite time of year. I love the temperature, and lead up to Christmas. It's also perfect for curling up with some tea, a warm blanket and a great book. David's Tea has some of the best teas, and they just released their fall collection. I haven't tried them all but the Sweet Apple Cider seems to be my favourite. If you are curious, check out all their flavours.

Weekly Obsessions

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every Saturday.

Here are my obsessions this week. Pretty much everything else is overshadowed by Gayle Forman's news!

BOOK

Gayle Forman announces Just One Night (goodreads)

I know the ending of Just One Year was a big topic of discussion after it's release. I was happy with the ending. Happy to leave Allyson and Willem where they left off in the story. However, Gayle recently announced that on May 29th she will release an e-novella that continues their journey. I will be getting this as soon as it's available to pre-order on Kobo.

MOVIE

The Amazing Spiderman 2

I loved the first movie in this reinvention of Spiderman. I especially love Andrew Garfield and his portrayal of Peter Parker/Spiderman. The addition of Dane Dehaan as Harry Osborn has only increased my fangirling (because, seriously, he's amazing in everything I've seen him in). I'll be seeing it on Saturday when my friend is off work. In the meantime I will be attempting to avoid spoilers (especially about Gwen Stacy's fate).

OTHER

Chocolate Macaroon tea from David's Tea

I was obsessed with the mere idea of this tea but now that I've tried it I am officially in love. It's sweet and has the perfect blend of chocolate and coconut. It's most likely going to be my main tea for the next while, because it's that good.

Book Expo America

We're now less than one month away to the big event. I can't wait to be on vacation and heading to NYC. Lots of excitement with the schedule being released, and we still have plenty more things to be unveiled as the countdown continues.

Here are my obsessions this week. Super short and sweet this week but pretty much everything else is eclipsed by the casting news!

BOOK

Beyond The Pale Motel by Francesca Lia Block

I stumbled across the cover for this and while I like it enough, it was this synopsis that made me quickly add it to my 'to be read' list
Maternal, sexy Catt and her beautiful, daring best friend Bree are hairdressers at an L.A. salon called Head Hunter, and work out at a gym called Body Farm. They have over a decade of sobriety behind them and are getting close to living the lives they've always wanted.

But when Catt's husband, Dash, leaves her, and then her neighbor is brutally murdered, possibly by a man being called the Hollywood Serial Killer, Catt's world begins to come crashing down. The murdered victims all seem to bear a chilling resemblance to Bree. Catt suspects that Bree is the next target of the Hollywood Serial Killer...is she losing touch with reality or simply coming to terms with the truth?

In this terrifying and intensely erotic novel, Francesca Lia Block explores the dangers of modern living, loving and dying with lyrical edge and sensational attitude.
You can add it to your Goodreads account and pine away like I am because its not released until September 16th.

OTHER

Ryan Kwanten cast in Stolen

As per Lucy Christopher's Facebook...

I am flailing over this news. I've wanted Ryan Kwanten to be cast as Ty since I read Stolen. He's going to be PERFECT. Stolen is still one of my all time favourite YA novels, and I was worried about it being made into a movie. The fact that Lucy is writing the screenplay and that they cast my perfect Ty makes me hope this will be a fantastic adaptation. I can't wait for more news about this movie, and for the eventual movie posters, trailer, etc.

*I also confirmed with Lucy via Twitter that Ryan is indeed Ty in the movie*

David's Tea Frequent Steeper Program

I have a slight obsession with tea, especially David's Tea. They have an amazing variety, and I love discovering a new favourite. They recently launched a frequent steeper program that allows you to accumulate points towards free tea. This is basically heaven for me. I have already signed up. Oh, and the May tea of the month? Chocolate Macaroon... as if I didn't want it to be May badly enough.

Weekly Obsessions

Here are my obsessions this week:

BOOKS

Still Star-Crossed by Melinda Taub

The Goodreads synopsis reads
Romeo and Juliet are gone. Will love live on? Despite the glooming peace that's settled on Verona after the recent tragedy, Montagues and Capulets are brawling in the streets. Faced with more bloody battles, Prince Escalus concludes that the only way to truly marry the fortunes of these two families is to literally marry them together. Everyone is skeptical, but none more so than the pair selected, for the most eligible Montague bachelor is Benvolio, Romeo's best friend, still anguished by the loss of his companions, and the chosen Capulet maid is Juliet's older cousin Rosaline, the girl Romeo first loved and whose refusal of Romeo's affection paved the way for bloodshed. Contrary to their late cousins, there's no love lost between Benvolio and Rosaline, yet they forge a bond to end the renewed feud not only to escape their forced betrothal, but to save their lives and the city of Verona itself.
I love the sound of this. I always wondered what came next after finishing Romeo and Juliet. I was always curious about how each of the families reacted and what resulted out of the tragic ending. I love the idea of a sequel of sorts, and can't wait to get my hands on this.

Cinder by Marissa Meyer Paperback Edition

I received an email just before Christmas notifying me that my blog name would be in the paperback edition of Cinder! Major fangirling happened. Here is the image sent to me by the lovely people at Macmillian. I have added a helpful red arrow to show where my blog name appears. Super excited to eventually have a copy of this and very happy to be included.

OTHER

Kobo Mini

I received an awesome Christmas present this year, an e-reader. It's a Kobo Mini and I LOVE it. So far I've only browsed the features and such, but I am looking forward to reading a book on it next week. Nothing beats the feel of a real book, but it'll come in handy for my eARCs.

David's Tea

If you haven't tried any tea from David's Tea yet, you are MISSING OUT! They have really awesome flavours. I am currently addicted to Cocomint Cream, and just fell in love with Santa's Secret.

Book Expo America

So one of my gifts this Christmas was my pass to BEA in 2013. I got it a little early, but I am SO EXCITED to be going again this year. Let the countdown begin.

So what are you obsessed with this week?
