New To My Book Closet

It's that time of the week again. Time to show you what bookish goodies made their way into my home and book closet (to be saved from the evil book eating cat monster named Aria). This is inspired by the various "mailbox" posts out there (eg. In My Mailbox by The Story Siren, and Stacking the Shelves by Tynga's Reviews)

Some fun goodies made their way into my mailbox this week!

First up, my Sept #otspsecretsister package arrived and I have not had a chance to share it yet. I love everything! Thank you so much, 'Buffy'.

The Peter Pan pillow case will go well with the other pillow case I have and I may have already eaten the M&Ms! I was also thrilled to add this Christina Lauren book to my collection.

Sweet Filthy Boy by Christina Lauren (goodreads)

Lastly, the New York City Comic Con exclusives were released this week and I managed to get my hands on the two that I wanted.

These are Goofy and Donald from the video game Kingdom Hearts. It is their Halloweentown outfits and I am in a little in awe of how great they look. I just need the Halloweentown Sora to complete the collection so I'll be on the look out for him to arrive at my local Hot Topic.

So cute, right? I love everything about them and love that they released for the Halloween season.

What goodies made their way into your mailbox this week? Let me know!

This week is filled with a bunch of amazing arrivals into my mailbox including my Ottawa Blogger Meet Up haul and a few of my new favourite Funko Pops.

First up is my haul from the #YOWOttawaBloggerMeetUp haul. I had such a fun time at the event and want to thank all the publishers and attendees for making it such a great afternoon.

Songs About A Girl by Chris Russell (goodreads)
Royal Bastards by Andrew Shvarts (goodreads)
No Good Deed by Goldy Moldavsky  (goodreads)
The Way Back Home by Allan Stratton (goodreads)
The Last Magician by Lisa Maxwell (goodreads)
The Glass Town Game by Catherynne M. Valente (goodreads)

Next is a highly anticipated read from Simon and Schuster Canada! A huge thank you to them for the chance to read and review this! I am so excited to see how Lara Jean's story end.

Always And Forever Lara Jean by Jenny Han (goodreads)

Next up are two Funko Pops that I have recently added to my collection.

Visitors to the blog will not be surprised that I have added Peter Pan to my collection. He is one of my most favourite Pops currently. I love that it looks like he is flying! I was so thrilled to find this one at my local Hot Topic! I may have to have a Peter Pan movie marathon!

Lastly, I have another Pop, this time from Twin Peaks. This is Laura Palmer and she's as cool looking as she is creepy. Twin Peaks starts with Laura's body washing ashore in plastic wrap and this Pop perfectly captures the creepy tone of the show.

Weekly Obsessions

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every Saturday.

BOOK

Not Without You : A Stucky Anthology

You may recall me mentioning a Kickstarter that I backed for an anthology that is filled with Steve and Bucky fan art, fanfiction and much more. I was just sent the ebook version and it has made me so excited for the hardcover coming my way! I cannot wait to read the short stories and see the art work up close. I am already really pleased with everything and am eagerly awaiting all the extra goodies that are coming with the book.

OTHER

Peter Pan Necklace

I have been searching for a pretty, yet subtle, Peter Pan necklace for a long time. I finally found a super cute one at Hot Topic. I love that it is just stars, and a ship. I am definitely going to have to snag one of these next time I go. I even love that the stars are blue!

Book Expo America

This has made the list again this week. More and more signings are being added to the schedule and the ticketed authors are now up! I am hoping to snag tickets for both Marissa Meyer and Leigh Bardugo. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed on both days. As the event gets steadily closer my excitement level is growing! I cannot wait for May to get here.

Weekly Obsessions

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every Saturday.

BOOK

Cover Of Girls Made Of Snow And Glass by Melissa Bashardoust (goodreads)

I love how simplistic this cover is. It is certainly eye catching and matches the title rather well.

I have been excited about this feminist Snow White retelling from pretty much the moment I read the deal announcement so I was very excited for it to finally have a cover!

OTHER

Peter Pan Funko

I had mentioned this previously on the blog, but I finally have a picture of the actual product!

It is amazing, right? I love how it looks like he is flying. I need to add this to my collection as soon as possible.

Mr Robot Funko Pops

They had announced Mr Robot Funkos previously but now they have been officially been announced along with all of the store exclusives and chases.

I am going to need that Elliot chase version with the hood up! I am also loving the Darlene one! I'll be collecting most of this set but am still wondering ...

Hopefully there is a second wave and Funko makes one for Tyrell!

Weekly Obsessions

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every Saturday.

BOOK

Cover for Stephanie Perkins' There's Someone Inside Your House

I have been so excited about this novel right from the moment Stephanie teased that her next book would be a horror novel. I was even more excited when she revealed that it would be a more 'slasher' type of horror rather than paranormal. I became fully obsessed once it was compared to the Scream movie franchise.

This cover is stunning and perfect! It has just the right amount of creepy while also giving a nod to Stephanie's first novel with the pink hue. I am counting down the days until I have this book in my hands.

OTHER

Buffy 20th Anniversary

Lots of goodies have popped up recently has Buffy celebrates its 20th anniversary. Entertainment Weekly recently got the cast together for a reunion and I am in love with EVERYTHING about it.

First up this amazing cover! I totally ship Buffy and Angel so this made me extremely happy.

You can also view the 40+ minute reunion video over on EW.com. It is equally amazing. I anticipate we'll be getting lots of other goodies as this iconic show continues to be celebrated and remembered.

Peter Pan Hot Topic Exclusive Funko

It is no secret that I am a HUGE Peter Pan nerd. I am also entirely addicted to Funko Pops. It should surprise nobody that I pretty much squealed with happiness upon finding out that Hot Topic is going to have an exclusive Peter Pan Pop. No image has been revealed from Funko yet, but you can see the Pop in this video where Hot Topic is revealing some of their exclusives.
I am eagerly awaiting his release and cannot wait to add this one to my collection

Had some pretty exciting goodies make their way into my mailbox this week.

First up is the finale to one of the most addictive series I've read! I love The Royals series and am so excited to have Twisted Palace in my hands so I can find out how it ends.

Twisted Palace by Erin Watt (goodreads)

I have the best friends pretty much ever, and was gifted this next item by one of them.

If you have followed this blog at all, you'll know how excited I was when Kim (from Pingwing's Bookshelf) gifted me this. She got it in one of her Owlcrate boxes and passed it along to me. I love it and will totally be wearing it this winter.

Lots of amazing goodies made their way into my book closet this week!

At the advance screening of Me Before You that I attended we were given a gift bag as we left. that included some amazing things. First up a tissue box that had the movie poster on it, a small movie poster, and some red lipstick in a shade similar to what Emilia Clarke wears in the movie.

So fun! It would have been great to get the tissues before the movie though. Haha.

Thanks to Raincoast Books I have a copy of this fun sounding read! A large majority of us book nerds are also fangirls/fanboys and this novel sounds perfect for those of us who are.

All The Feels by Danika Stone (goodreads)

I am part of the Raincoast Books blog tour and will be sharing a guest post for my stop. You can also expect a review that same week! So excited to dive into this one.

It's no secret that I am a huge Sarah J Maas fangirl so when Bloomsbury offered up a pre-order incentive for A Court Of Mist and Fury I jumped on the chance.

The tote is amazing! I am going to bring it to ALA with me in a couple weeks!

I had ordered a set of these lovely carry-alls from Evie's Society6 shop. You may recall that I did not get the correct middle sized pouch. Society6 was fantastic in helping fix the situation and I now have a full set! They're amazing and I intend on using them frequently.

A huge thank you to Society6's customer service who were great and fixed the situation promptly and went above and beyond to do so.

New To My Book Closet

It's that time of the week again. Time to show you what bookish goodies made their way into my home and book closet (to be saved from the evil book eating cat monster named Aria). This is inspired by the various "mailbox" posts out there (eg. In My Mailbox by The Story Siren, and Stacking the Shelves by Tynga's Reviews).

It has been a crazy but awesome week in bookish mail.

First up is a prize pack I won from the Raincoast Fall Blogger Preview event. I am so excited to put together the puzzle with my nieces. The candle smells amazing, and the tote bag is super cute! I am looking forward to reading Labyrinth Lost at some point as well.

Labyrinth Lost by Zoraida Cordova (goodreads)

Next, I received a book that I have been really curious about since I first saw the announcement. It sounds like it might be a dark, but fascinating read. A huge thank you to Penguin Random House Canada for sending it for me to review.

The Girls by Emma Cline (goodreads)

My friend Kim gave me a finished copy of a Peter Pan inspired book that I read and loved. She also gave me this amazing J.M. Barrie print that is below. Thank you so much, Kim. I love them (obviously, because Peter Pan).

Everland by Wendy Spinale (goodreads)

Lastly, this is a book I owned but had my friend Amanda get signed for me. She was gracious enough to go to the Jojo Moyes signing in Toronto to get this signed for me. I am insanely excited to have one of my favourite books signed. Me Before You is such an incredible story.

Me Before You by Jojo Moyes (goodreads)

New To My Book Closet

It's that time of the week again. Time to show you what bookish goodies made their way into my home and book closet (to be saved from the evil book eating cat monster named Aria). This is inspired by the various "mailbox" posts out there (eg. In My Mailbox by The Story Siren, and Stacking the Shelves by Tynga's Reviews).

This week was an insane book mail week! So many amazing titles made their way into my house. I am looking towards a pretty amazing summer of reading with all of these titles.

First up was the Ottawa Book Blogger Meet Up. We had a fantastic day filled with bookish talk, and fun. The publishers were incredibly generous and sent a lot of awesome titles.

Never Ever by Sara Saedi (goodreads)
Everland by Wendy Spinale (goodreads)
Run by Kody Keplinger (goodreads)
Every Exquisite Thing by Matthew Quick (goodreads)
The Last Boy And Girl In The World by Siobhan Vivian (goodreads)
The Memory Book by Lara Avery (goodreads)
Drag Teen by Jeffery Self (goodreads)
Two Summers by Aimee Friedman (goodreads)
The Merciless II by Danielle Vega (goodreads)
Roses and Rot by Kat Howard (goodreads)
The Oxford Inheritance by AA McDonald (goodreads)
The Crown's Game by Evelyn Skye (goodreads)

It's probably not surprising that I am SUPER excited about the two Peter Pan inspired novels! I have already read Everland and LOVED it. I have high hopes for Never Ever. Thanks again to all the publishers for helping make this meet up extra special and thanks for everyone who came. It was great to see you all!

Next up was a bookish mug I purchased for Evie's Society6 store. My love of Peter Pan is well known and this mug paired perfect with my reading of Everland! I intend to use it again when devouring Never Ever.

Evie's designs are always lovely! I have also purchased a set of carry-all pouches with this design on it! Excited for them to arrive.

Raincoast Books, who distributes a lot of publishers here in Canada, had their annual blogger fall preview event and they sent us swag packs filled with awesome goodies along with two upcoming ARCs.

Stealing Snow by Danielle Paige (goodreads)
One Was Lost by Natalie D Richards (goodreads)

Thank you to Raincoast for the fun event, and the swag pack! I am super excited to read Stealing Snow and was thrilled to find it in my pack. At the meet up I heard One Was Lost described as The Breakfast Club meets The Blair Witch Project and I immediately needed to read it!

I had some pre-orders come in as well this week. Two books that everyone is buzzing about (and for good reason as both of these are highly anticipated books)

A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J Maas (goodreads)
The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson (goodreads)

The Unexpected Everything is simply adorable. It's a perfect summertime read! I am super nervous to read A Court of Mist and Fury based on some spoilers I heard, but hope to get to it soon. I anticipate having an unpopular opinion about the events of the book but I do trust Sarah J Maas to write a beautiful story.

Weekly Obsessions

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every Saturday.

BOOK

Cover of Caraval by Stephanie Garber (goodreads)

I have been obsessed with this book since I first heard of it. It sounds like a wonderful book filled with magic, sisters, romance and a dangerous but fantastic game.

Amazing cover, right? It is eye catching and fits the story (especially after reading the first 2 chapters over at Entertainment Weekly). If this one is not already on your autumn radar be sure to add it. I have a feeling it is going to be one of the hottest titles at BEA as well.

TV/MOVIE

Disney Live Action Peter Pan

Entertainment Weekly announced that Disney has a live action Peter Pan movie in the works. I want this to be amazing. I need this to be amazing. I need a perfectly cast Peter and Wendy. I need it to make my Peter Pan fangirl heart swell with happiness. I am excited to hear more details and see what casting choices they make.

iZombie Season 2 Finale

iZombie delivered another jaw dropping, game changing season two finale that left me impatient for the third season. Filled with clever puns (including a Rob Thomas - the musician, not the writer - cameo) and lots of action. There was romance, death, and plenty of set up for an exciting third season. If you haven't checked out this show yet DO SO IMMEDIATELY. You have time to catch up before the new season starts. It's got some of the most smartly written dialogue and a very addicting plot.

OTHER

Book Expo America

Three weeks from today my vacation will start and a few days after that I will be headed to Chicago for Book Expo America. Be sure to let me know if you are going in the comments.

I have had lots of amazing goodies make their way into my mailbox this week.

First up is my birthday gift from my lovely friend Christy (aka The Reader Bee). She sent me something that is so ME. I love it so much I may need to get a matching one for my couch.

This Peter Pan pillow is designed by the equally lovely Evie Seo. Be sure to check out her Society6 shop where this was purchased. I need a mug, and a set of the carry all pouches with this design. It's seriously my favourite. Thank you again, Christy! So much!

Next are two review copies that made their way into my mailbox. I may have squealed when the new Morgan Matson arrived. I cannot wait to dive into this one and fall in love with these new characters.

P.S. I Like You by Kasie West (goodreads)
The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson (goodreads)

PS I Like You just looks super cute and fun! Thanks to Simon and Schuster and Scholastic for these pretties! I cannot wait to review them.

My lovely #otspsecretsister (aka Tink) sent me a fantastic birthday package! It's basically a birthday in a box and I love it so much! I cannot wait to try the cake. I am saving it for a special occasion (perhaps the Outlander season 2 premiere here in Canada tomorrow!).

It's super fun, and I want to say thank you to 'Tink' again! It brightened my day! It was incredibly thoughtful of you and it made this birthday extra special.

Lastly, a book I ordered came! I have been dying to read this one. It sounds like Cruel Intentions meets Gossip Girl and I am SO IN! I am hoping to fit it in my very packed schedule soon!

This is inspired by the various "mailbox" posts out there (eg. In My Mailbox by The Story Siren, and Stacking the Shelves by Tynga's Reviews).

New To My Book Closet is a day early this week, and there will be no Weekly Obsessions posts because I have a special post going up on Sunday! I am taking part in the blog tour for The Winner's Kiss and will be sharing my pick for favourite literary kiss! Check back on Sunday to see what I selected.

I had quite a few goodies show up in my mailbox this week! So many that I am very excited for.

First up, Hachette sent me some books that I am VERY excited for.

Asking For It by Louise O'Neill (goodreads)
The King Slayer by Virginia Boecker (goodreads)

I've heard great things about Asking For It, and cannot wait to read the sequel to The Witch Hunter! Thanks to Hachette Canada for these titles.

Next up are some books I purchased and another review copy that arrived in my mailbox.

Summer Days and Summer Nights by Stephanie Perkins (goodreads)
The Edge Of Falling by Rebecca Serle (goodreads)
Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie (goodreads)

Thank you to Raincoast Books for sending me the short story collection. I loved My True Love Gave To Me and cannot wait to see these summertime romance set shorts.

The other 2 are books I purchased from Book Outlet. I couldn't resist this adorable copy of Peter Pan and hadn't yet read this book by Rebecca Serle!

Lots of awesome made it's way into my mailbox this week! I feel rather spoiled!

First up, my first #otspsecretsister package for this new round.

Everything Leads To You by Nina LaCour (goodreads)
Werewolves by Kelley Armstrong (goodreads)

I basically fangirled over the entire package but the tea, you guys! THE TEA! It's a set of Peter Pan inspired teas. It includes the following ...

How pretty are these tins? Seriously, I am in love. I am currently trying them all but have so far tried the Tink blend, and the Neverland inspired one. I am curious about the rest, and will report back on which was my favourite.

Oh and to my #otspsecretsister.... reply is coming soon! Writing it this weekend and will mail on Monday! Thanks again, Tink!

I also received this lovely for review. I am part of the blog tour and my stop is tomorrow! I am settling in to write my review but this is pretty much Outlander meets Romeo and Juliet and it was REALLY FUN!

Into The Dim by Janet B Taylor (goodreads)

Thank you to Raincoast Books for the chance to review and be part of the blog tour. Visit tomorrow to read all my thoughts, and to hear where Janet would like to travel to if she could!

Lastly, one of the books I had pre-ordered came in a little early. This will be on shelves on Tuesday and I've been hyping this one on Twitter with teasers all this week.

Kill The Boy Band by Goldy Moldavsky (goodreads)

How insane is this design? Seriously. It's eye catching and pops. The end papers?! Amazing. It fits the inside of the book perfectly. This is a darkly funny story of what happens when 4 fangirls kidnap their least favourite member of their favourite boy band! Be sure to pick it up!

Weekly Obsessions

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every Saturday.

BOOK

Glass Sword ARCs

Picture proof that these beauties exist. They lovely people at HCC Frenzy posted this photo on their Twitter account which caused much fangirling and vaguely human noises to be made.

Photo Rights @HCCFrenzy. Taken from the @HCCFrenzy Twitter account

I desperately want to get my hands on one of these so that I can devour it immediately, but I have a feeling they'll be limited and harder to come by.

The Forbidden Wish ARCs

All of the Winter 2016 ARCs are being printed right now and seeing them all is extremely exciting. I have been all about this Aladdin retelling since it was announced so I am very excited that it's one step closer to me being able to read it.

Photo Rights - Jessica Khoury. Taken from Jessica's Instagram account

Pretty, right? I love the the cover so these ARCs are amazing. This photo was shared by Jessica Khoury on her Instgram account and it immediately ignited a need to read this book ASAP!

OTHER

Disney Designer Dolls - Peter Pan and Captain Hook

Disney has these collectible, limited edition dolls that are truly eye catching. This photo recently popped up in my Twitter feed (thanks to the lovely Wendy) and I immediately became obsessed.

They are hard to get from what I understand, and on the expensive side, but the want is fierce. I would just keep in them in the box forever. I love that they made it seem like Peter is flying. LOVE!

Weekly Obsessions

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every Saturday.

Here are my obsessions this week:

BOOK

The Queen of the Tearling by Erika Johansen

The ladies from Harper Collins Canada were chatting about this one on Twitter, and I am immediately intrigued. After reading the Goodreads synopsis, I am SOLD! I want to get my hands on this immediately. Emma Watson is already set to star in the movie adaptation of this fantasy series. This is certainly going to be one with buzz going into summer of 2014.

MOVIE/TV

Disney Descendants

Disney key art for the TV Movie Descendants

It was recently announced that a Disney channel movie would be made that revolved around the son of Belle and Beast  (among other Disney character children). Obviously, I am excited for this. It also has made me want someone to write a series about the children of iconic fairytale characters. Imagine the possibilities for couples, family feuds, and redemption. What if a villain's child fell in love with one of the children of the 'heroes'? I need this to happen. I want someone to write this story, immediately.

OTHER

Ottawa Blogettes Secret Santa

My secret Santa got me the most amazing gift! Katie from Bookishly Yours had my name and got me this amazing Peter Pan print (which is framed). I LOVE IT! She also included a 3 pack of Disney Kinder Eggs (totally a theme happening here). I've already thanked her, but again a huge thank you to Katie for this amazing gift! Can not wait to hang it up in my apartment.
So what are you obsessed with this week?

Weekly Obsession

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every Saturday.

Here are my obsessions this week:

BOOK

Marissa Meyer New Book Deal

Did you miss the news? Marissa Meyer has a new book in the works. Heartless, according to Goodreads, is 'a prequel to “Alice in Wonderland,” HEARTLESS will tell the tale of how a marquis’ teenage daughter became the infamous Queen of Hearts. It will be a story of whimsy and madness, passion and tragedy, ravens and writing desks'. I was sold as soon as they mentioned Alice in Wonderland. Extra excited that it's a prequel story. I am intrigued with what Marissa will do with the Queen of Hearts. 2015 can not come fast enough.

Cover of Amy Plum's After The End

It fits the novel perfectly. Read the synopsis and you'll see. I am pretty excited about this nove, and am looking forward to getting my hands on it in May.

Synopsis of Dorothy Must Die by Danielle Paige

The full synopsis has been revealed for Dorothy Must Die. I knew it was going to be amazing, but this...OH.MY.GOD. It's jumped to the top of my Must Read in 2014 list.
I didn't ask for any of this. I didn't ask to be some kind of hero.
But when your whole life gets swept up by a tornado—taking you with it—you have no choice but to go along, you know?

Sure, I've read the books. I've seen the movies. I know the song about the rainbow and the happy little blue birds. But I never expected Oz to look like this. To be a place where Good Witches can't be trusted, Wicked Witches may just be the good guys, and winged monkeys can be executed for acts of rebellion. There's still the yellow brick road, though—but even that's crumbling.
What happened?
Dorothy. They say she found a way to come back to Oz. They say she seized power and the power went to her head. And now no one is safe.

My name is Amy Gumm—and I'm the other girl from Kansas.
I've been recruited by the Revolutionary Order of the Wicked.
I've been trained to fight.
And I have a mission:
Remove the Tin Woodman's heart.
Steal the Scarecrow's brain.
Take the Lion's courage.
Then and only then—Dorothy must die!
Remove the Tim Woodman's Heart? Steal the Scarecrow's brain? Take the Lion's courage? YES! YES! YES! Can I have this NOW please?

Cora Carmack's New Series

I was sold as soon as they mentioned Friday Night Lights. I will read it. It sounds fun, and I've heard nothing but amazing things about her first books.

TV/MOVIE

Robbie Kay as Peter Pan on Once Upon A Time

If you have to make Peter Pan evil, at least have someone who impresses me in the role. Robbie Kay is PERFECT! He looks the part, he can act, and I am all over his version of Peter. I can't wait to see what else Once Upon A Time does with his character, and how the twists and turns will present themselves. I've been hearing rumblings that he REALLY impresses in the second episode, so I am looking forward to discussing that in my recap.

So what are you obsessed with this week?
