New To My Book Closet

It's that time of the week again. Time to show you what bookish goodies made their way into my home and book closet (to be saved from the evil book eating cat monster named Aria). This is inspired by the various "mailbox" posts out there (eg. In My Mailbox by The Story Siren, and Stacking the Shelves by Tynga's Reviews)

I came back from ALA to a fantastic package from my #otspsecretsister, Tink. It was filled with wine accessory goodies that I cannot wait to use.

It also had a book that is Taylor Swift inspired, which is totally perfect for me (and I've read this one and thought it was super cute). She also included some AMAZING ACOTAR bookmarks!

Sing by Vivi Greene (goodreads)

Thanks, Tink, for this lovely package. It was perfect and I love everything!

If you're curious about what I picked up at ALA, be sure to check out my recap.

Lots of amazing goodies made their way into my book closet this week!

At the advance screening of Me Before You that I attended we were given a gift bag as we left. that included some amazing things. First up a tissue box that had the movie poster on it, a small movie poster, and some red lipstick in a shade similar to what Emilia Clarke wears in the movie.

So fun! It would have been great to get the tissues before the movie though. Haha.

Thanks to Raincoast Books I have a copy of this fun sounding read! A large majority of us book nerds are also fangirls/fanboys and this novel sounds perfect for those of us who are.

All The Feels by Danika Stone (goodreads)

I am part of the Raincoast Books blog tour and will be sharing a guest post for my stop. You can also expect a review that same week! So excited to dive into this one.

It's no secret that I am a huge Sarah J Maas fangirl so when Bloomsbury offered up a pre-order incentive for A Court Of Mist and Fury I jumped on the chance.

The tote is amazing! I am going to bring it to ALA with me in a couple weeks!

I had ordered a set of these lovely carry-alls from Evie's Society6 shop. You may recall that I did not get the correct middle sized pouch. Society6 was fantastic in helping fix the situation and I now have a full set! They're amazing and I intend on using them frequently.

A huge thank you to Society6's customer service who were great and fixed the situation promptly and went above and beyond to do so.

New To My Book Closet

It's that time of the week again. Time to show you what bookish goodies made their way into my home and book closet (to be saved from the evil book eating cat monster named Aria). This is inspired by the various "mailbox" posts out there (eg. In My Mailbox by The Story Siren, and Stacking the Shelves by Tynga's Reviews).

This week was an insane book mail week! So many amazing titles made their way into my house. I am looking towards a pretty amazing summer of reading with all of these titles.

First up was the Ottawa Book Blogger Meet Up. We had a fantastic day filled with bookish talk, and fun. The publishers were incredibly generous and sent a lot of awesome titles.

Never Ever by Sara Saedi (goodreads)
Everland by Wendy Spinale (goodreads)
Run by Kody Keplinger (goodreads)
Every Exquisite Thing by Matthew Quick (goodreads)
The Last Boy And Girl In The World by Siobhan Vivian (goodreads)
The Memory Book by Lara Avery (goodreads)
Drag Teen by Jeffery Self (goodreads)
Two Summers by Aimee Friedman (goodreads)
The Merciless II by Danielle Vega (goodreads)
Roses and Rot by Kat Howard (goodreads)
The Oxford Inheritance by AA McDonald (goodreads)
The Crown's Game by Evelyn Skye (goodreads)

It's probably not surprising that I am SUPER excited about the two Peter Pan inspired novels! I have already read Everland and LOVED it. I have high hopes for Never Ever. Thanks again to all the publishers for helping make this meet up extra special and thanks for everyone who came. It was great to see you all!

Next up was a bookish mug I purchased for Evie's Society6 store. My love of Peter Pan is well known and this mug paired perfect with my reading of Everland! I intend to use it again when devouring Never Ever.

Evie's designs are always lovely! I have also purchased a set of carry-all pouches with this design on it! Excited for them to arrive.

Raincoast Books, who distributes a lot of publishers here in Canada, had their annual blogger fall preview event and they sent us swag packs filled with awesome goodies along with two upcoming ARCs.

Stealing Snow by Danielle Paige (goodreads)
One Was Lost by Natalie D Richards (goodreads)

Thank you to Raincoast for the fun event, and the swag pack! I am super excited to read Stealing Snow and was thrilled to find it in my pack. At the meet up I heard One Was Lost described as The Breakfast Club meets The Blair Witch Project and I immediately needed to read it!

I had some pre-orders come in as well this week. Two books that everyone is buzzing about (and for good reason as both of these are highly anticipated books)

A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J Maas (goodreads)
The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson (goodreads)

The Unexpected Everything is simply adorable. It's a perfect summertime read! I am super nervous to read A Court of Mist and Fury based on some spoilers I heard, but hope to get to it soon. I anticipate having an unpopular opinion about the events of the book but I do trust Sarah J Maas to write a beautiful story.

Waiting On Wednesday ..... A Court Of Mist and Fury

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

My pick this week is A Court Of Mist and Fury by Sarah J Maas

SPOILERS FOR A COURT OF THORNS AND ROSES

Here is the Goodreads synopsis
Feyre survived Amarantha's clutches to return to the Spring Court--but at a steep cost. Though she now has the powers of the High Fae, her heart remains human, and it can't forget the terrible deeds she performed to save Tamlin's people.

Nor has Feyre forgotten her bargain with Rhysand, High Lord of the feared Night Court. As Feyre navigates its dark web of politics, passion, and dazzling power, a greater evil looms--and she might be key to stopping it. But only if she can harness her harrowing gifts, heal her fractured soul, and decide how she wishes to shape her future--and the future of a world cleaved in two.

With more than a million copies sold of her beloved Throne of Glass series, Sarah J. Maas's masterful storytelling brings this second book in her seductive and action-packed series to new heights.
I loved A Court of Thorns and Roses. LOVED. Feyre is amazing and I love the romance between her and Tamlin. I am really excited to visit the Night Court in this sequel, and learn more about Rhysand (and obviously have Sarah smash my heart in a billion pieces because that is what she does).

Expected release date - May 3, 2016

Weekly Obsessions

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every Saturday.

BOOK

Cover for Sarah J Maas' A Court Of Mist and Fury (goodreads)

I've been excited to see the cover for A Court of Mist and Fury since finishing A Court of Thorns and Roses. That book was one of my favourites of 2015 and I am VERY excited to get my hands on this sequel.

My eyes are immediately drawn to the tattoo on Feyre's hand. Those who read the first book will know the significance of those markings and what it means for Feyre in this sequel. I am really excited to see the expansion of this world, and that little glimpse of (what I assume is) the Night Court has me really excited.

TV/MOVIE

Penny Dreadful Season 3 Trailer

It's no secret that I love Penny Dreadful. It's one of my favourite shows. The acting is some of the best on television right now, and the storyline is consistently sharp and mesmerizing.

This trailer has me on edge waiting for May 1st when it premieres. This trailer also gives me plenty of #Ethanessa feelings. The whole "you seek my soul,  you my body but both are promised to another" feels like she would mean Ethan (at least for me). He would be the 'other' that she refers to ... at least I hope. The end gave me chills with Vanessa stating "you think you know evil". This season cannot come fast enough.

The Path Trailer

Aaron Paul is one of my favourite actors. He was incredible as Jesse in Breaking Bad. Now, he and Hugh Dancy (who is also insanely talented) have been cast in a Hulu show about being inside a religious cult. This goosebumps inducing trailer has my full attention.

Hugh Dancy's delivery of the end line about them letting him lead them into the light is the perfect note to end it on. It gave me shivers and sets an unsettling tone for the series. I'll definitely be watching this. Those in Canada will be happy to know that Shomi has secured rights, but there is no word yet on when they may air the series.

OTHER

ALA 2016

I am going to Orlando to join my fellow book nerds at ALA. Registration opens this week and I am so excited to be registered. After registering all I have left to do is secure my transfers to and from the airport and work out a schedule for the days I'll be going to Disney (or Universal Studios). I am so excited to meet up with Kelly (from Kellyvision) and to see what authors might be there. I am also insanely excited for BEA 2016 in Chicago (which I am already registered for).

Weekly Obsessions

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every Saturday.

BOOK

Cover of Traitor Angels by Anne Blankman (goodreads)

This cover is stunning. I love everything about it. Anne's previous books were amazing and I cannot wait to devour this one. I think it's going to be incredible.

Cover for The Crown's Game by Evelyn Skye (goodreads)

This cover is striking. It immediately catches your eye. The city in the shape of a crown, on the water and a girl running towards it like she's skimming the top of the water. This one has been on my radar since I first heard about it and the cover has only increased my anticipation.

Tile reveal for the A Court Of Thorns and Roses sequel

Bloomsbury released the title to the sequel for Sarah J Maas' A Court Of Thorns And Roses. I LOVED her twist on the Beauty and the Beast tale, and cannot wait to see where the sequel takes the story. The title has left me VERY excited for a cover reveal, and more details about the story itself.

A Court Of Mist And Fury will hit shelves May 2016! I'll be counting down the days!

TV/MOVIE

Goosebumps

I took my niece to see the Goosebumps movie as she is a huge fan of the books. I loved the books and TV series when I was a kid and am delighted that she's so into them (and reading in general). The movie is pure nostalgia for older fans of the series, and the new fans will love it too. It's funny, offers up some 'safe scares' and puts a great twist on the stories fans love. Go see it if you're a Goosebumps fan, and go see it even if you aren't because it's a really fun family movie (for kids who are okay with a few light scares)
