New To My Book Closet

It's that time of the week again. Time to show you what bookish goodies made their way into my home and book closet (to be saved from the evil book eating cat monster named Aria). This is inspired by the various "mailbox" posts out there (eg. In My Mailbox by The Story Siren, and Stacking the Shelves by Tynga's Reviews)

Some amazing sounding books made their way into my book closet this week.

No books this week BUT I did still have a few fun things make their way into my mailbox.

My Funko Pop collection has officially started and I foresee it being a big problem (because I will want to buy so many now).

I recently received a Countess (from American Horror Story: Hotel) Pop. She's perfect. I love the cat eye makeup and the little bit of blood around her mouth. So perfect.

I decided to order the most recent Legion Of Collectors box because of the Suicide Squad theme. Lots of awesome goodies including a t-shirt, an Enchantress Pop, and comic with an adorable cover.

What bookish items made their way into your mailbox this week?

Happy Weekend and Happy Reading!

Weekly Obsessions

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every Saturday.

TV/MOVIE

Beauty and the Beast movie poster

Pretty sure my excitement for the newest Beauty and the Beast movie from Disney is evident. Disney has released the most stunning movie poster for this movie. It's breathtaking and I hope they offer it as a poster you can purchase because I would definitely hang this on my wall.

So simple, and pretty. It is instantly recognizable as Beauty and the Beast with the iconic rose. The whole poster just really works, and has made me even more excited for the movie.

Suicide Squad Entertainment Weekly cover

One of my most anticipated summer movies is Suicide Squad. I am super excited we're finally getting a movie version of Harley Quinn and I cannot wait to see what Margot Robbie does will the role.

Unsurprisingly, Entertainment Weekly has featured the movie in the upcoming issue and released four different covers to celebrate the movie's upcoming release.

This cover is, unsurprisingly, my favourite ...

I am curious about Jared Leto's Joker as well. He appears to have been very method in his approach to this role and I wonder how that will showcase itself in his performance. Either way I need this cover, and cannot wait until this finally releases.

OTHER

Newt Scamander Funko Pop

How cute is this Funko Pop?! I, obviously, need it. I am curious who (or what) else will be made into Pops to celebrate this upcoming return to JK Rowling's wizarding world.

Side note - apparently Hufflepuff is the house of hotties (looking at you Cedric and Newt). I am shallow, but it makes me super proud to be a Hufflepuff.. #HufflepuffPride

Weekly Obsessions

BOOK

Cover of Paper Princess by Erin Watt (goodreads)

This was my Waiting On Wednesday pick this week. It caught my eye because it sounds like Cruel Intentions meets Gossip Girl but with royals. I am so in, and I LOVE this cover.

I am a big fan of the watercolour look, and I am excited to own this for my bookshelf!

Lizzie by Dawn Ius (goodreads)

A contemporary take on the infamous Lizzie Borden story and I am SOOOOO excited about. This story has ALWAYS fascinated me and I am so looking forward to what Dawn does with this chilling tale.

TV/MOVIE

The Path key art

I am a huge fan of Aaron Paul. Have been since watching him give an incredible performance as Jesse Pinkman in Breaking Bad. I was thrilled when I heard he would be joining Hugh Dancy in The Path.

I love this key art! I am so excited for this show to premiere at the end of the month. The lighting is the most striking thing about this image and I love how it almost shadows out Michelle Monaghan and Hugh Dancy. It creates a tone for the show that has me really excited.

Suicide Squad posters

The Suicide Squad movie released some new posters. I believe these are meant to advertise that there was promotion being done at #SXSW (South By South West Festival). Apparently Harley Quinn's Tattoo Parlour was there!

Each of the members have a poster, but I love the Joker and Harley ones so much! If you were lucky enough to stop by Harley's Tattoo Parlour at #SXSW this year, let me know all about your experience in the comments! I saw that they had amazing lollipops too!

TV/MOVIE

Outlander Season 2 key art and trailer

I was a late to the Outlander party but when I finally decided to watch it I totally fell in love. The cast, the storyline, the romance! All of it is perfect.

The official season 2 trailer has been released and it has made me VERY excited for the show to return in April! I mean... this trailer!

The also released the key art for season two and it is STUNNING! How hot do the Frasers look? Big fan of Jamie's new hair cut! *swoon* and Claire looks beautiful.

OTHER

Suicide Squad Funko Dolls

I am not usually into Funko Dolls. The only one I really REALLY want is the Lumiere one (from Beauty and the Beast). He is adorable.

Now, Funko released their new Suicide Squad Funkos and they are awesome!!

I need the Harley Quinn and Joker Funkos! NEED!! I am so excited for this movie.

Ottawa Book Blogger Meet Up

Sign ups for the meet up close VERY soon and I am so excited to get planning this event. It's always really fun. If you want to sign up all the details are in the sign up post. We'd love to see you there!

BOOK

I See London, I See France by Sarah Mlynowski

This was just announced this week on the Publisher Weekly website and it sounds ABSOLUTELY amazing.  Books about European travel (complete with sexy European boys) are my weakness. There is pretty much no quicker way to bait me into needing to read a novel. This one sounds like such a 'me' book.

Here is the blurb in the Publishers Weekly announcement
in which 19-year-old Sydney decides at the last minute to have the summer she's longed for: traveling through Europe with her best friend. But while they dodge (and chase) boys, drama, and their own personal demons, Sydney falls head over heels for a guy she can't have.
Love the slightly older than most YA characters (so perhaps some more sexytimes) and that I am not sure where in Europe they'll be travelling. Hoping it'll remain a surprise until I actually read the book. There is no Goodreads link yet, but keep an eye out to add this one to your to be read list.

Hearts Made Of Black by Stephanie Garber (goodreads)

I've mentioned this one before but some more details were released and it has only increased my desire to devour this novel immediately.
The first in a series about two sisters bound by love and a father they fear, who escape their tiny, secluded island for the wondrous performance of Caraval, where the audience plays along in a deadly game of determining what's real and what's fantasy, and where only one sister might be brave enough to take the chance to forever escape their dark pasts.
Pitched as Night Circus meets Sleep No More.
Pretty much everything about that blurb has me dying to read this. I love that it is focused on sisters, and the mention of Night Circus has me very intrigued. I'll be keeping an eye out for more details of this one while the long wait until Fall 2016 begins.

TV/MOVIE

Suicide Squad Trailer

Two words ... Harley. Quinn.

Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn has me VERY intrigued after seeing this trailer. I am also less apprehensive about this movie now. The trailer is actually pretty decent, and the last few moments with Jared Leto's Joker are terrifying. It's pretty clear that this is going to be the Harley/Joker show and with good reason - both actors seem to have delivered stand out performances (if the trailer is anything to go on).

The Affair Season 2 Promo

I really enjoyed season one of The Affair. In particular it's use of the dual narration. I loved that her version of events was different than his version in sometimes subtle and sometimes glaring ways. The second season seems to promise lots more drama to come!

They also released the promo poster which promises four sides to the story (so that means Cole and Helen's version of events will become part of the narration, too)

No official air date has been announced yet (that I can find), but it'll be sometime in the fall! Really looking forward to seeing what twists and turns await in the second season.
