Weekly Obsessions

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every Saturday.

BOOK

Sarah J Maas to write Catwoman YA novel (goodreads)

Mashable.com announced that a group of authors will be writing YA novels about some of our fave DC Comics characters. The one I am most excited for is Sarah J Maas' take on Catwoman. I've always loved Catwoman and cannot wait to see what spin Sarah will put on her character.

Side note - all these YA adaptions for comic book characters has made me REALLY want a Joke/Harley Quinn YA novel. Please.

cover of Glitter by Aprilynne Pike (goodreads)

This cover is immediately eye catching and reminds me of Marie Antoinette.

This novel is pitched as Breaking Bad meets Marie Antoinette so I am, obviously, hooked. I cannot wait to get my hands on it, and this cover is just the pretty wrapping on an already amazing sounding book.

Finding Fraser by K.C. Dyer (goodreads)

This book is already released but when I stumble across it (thanks, Em)  I knew I would read it. I love books that incorporate pop culture into them. This is the story of a woman who goes to Scotland in search of her own Jamie Fraser (yup, as in Outlander's Jamie Fraser). It sounds like it is going to be hilarious, and kind of  a romantic comedy. If you're a fan of Outlander you probably don't want to miss it. Look for a review sometime this summer!

TV/MOVIE

The Path

I have now watched the first episode of this show and it's amazing. The last few minutes of the pilot are chill inducing. Hugh Dancy is perfect for this role, and I am so happy to have Aaron Paul back on my TV screen. I cannot wait to see how dark and twisty this show gets. If you haven't watched it yet make sure you do!

OTHER

My Birthday

My birthday is tomorrow but I have already celebrated with my family and some of my friends. My cake was amazing and I love it so much (it was also delicious).

My actual birthday will be spent with The Walking Dead finale and wine. I am nervous and excited because Negan is making his entrance and I have been told this means bad things for Rick and the gang.

BOOK

Cover of Paper Princess by Erin Watt (goodreads)

This was my Waiting On Wednesday pick this week. It caught my eye because it sounds like Cruel Intentions meets Gossip Girl but with royals. I am so in, and I LOVE this cover.

I am a big fan of the watercolour look, and I am excited to own this for my bookshelf!

Lizzie by Dawn Ius (goodreads)

A contemporary take on the infamous Lizzie Borden story and I am SOOOOO excited about. This story has ALWAYS fascinated me and I am so looking forward to what Dawn does with this chilling tale.

TV/MOVIE

The Path key art

I am a huge fan of Aaron Paul. Have been since watching him give an incredible performance as Jesse Pinkman in Breaking Bad. I was thrilled when I heard he would be joining Hugh Dancy in The Path.

I love this key art! I am so excited for this show to premiere at the end of the month. The lighting is the most striking thing about this image and I love how it almost shadows out Michelle Monaghan and Hugh Dancy. It creates a tone for the show that has me really excited.

Suicide Squad posters

The Suicide Squad movie released some new posters. I believe these are meant to advertise that there was promotion being done at #SXSW (South By South West Festival). Apparently Harley Quinn's Tattoo Parlour was there!

Each of the members have a poster, but I love the Joker and Harley ones so much! If you were lucky enough to stop by Harley's Tattoo Parlour at #SXSW this year, let me know all about your experience in the comments! I saw that they had amazing lollipops too!

BOOK

Cover for Sarah J Maas' A Court Of Mist and Fury (goodreads)

I've been excited to see the cover for A Court of Mist and Fury since finishing A Court of Thorns and Roses. That book was one of my favourites of 2015 and I am VERY excited to get my hands on this sequel.

My eyes are immediately drawn to the tattoo on Feyre's hand. Those who read the first book will know the significance of those markings and what it means for Feyre in this sequel. I am really excited to see the expansion of this world, and that little glimpse of (what I assume is) the Night Court has me really excited.

TV/MOVIE

Penny Dreadful Season 3 Trailer

It's no secret that I love Penny Dreadful. It's one of my favourite shows. The acting is some of the best on television right now, and the storyline is consistently sharp and mesmerizing.

This trailer has me on edge waiting for May 1st when it premieres. This trailer also gives me plenty of #Ethanessa feelings. The whole "you seek my soul,  you my body but both are promised to another" feels like she would mean Ethan (at least for me). He would be the 'other' that she refers to ... at least I hope. The end gave me chills with Vanessa stating "you think you know evil". This season cannot come fast enough.

The Path Trailer

Aaron Paul is one of my favourite actors. He was incredible as Jesse in Breaking Bad. Now, he and Hugh Dancy (who is also insanely talented) have been cast in a Hulu show about being inside a religious cult. This goosebumps inducing trailer has my full attention.

Hugh Dancy's delivery of the end line about them letting him lead them into the light is the perfect note to end it on. It gave me shivers and sets an unsettling tone for the series. I'll definitely be watching this. Those in Canada will be happy to know that Shomi has secured rights, but there is no word yet on when they may air the series.

OTHER

ALA 2016

I am going to Orlando to join my fellow book nerds at ALA. Registration opens this week and I am so excited to be registered. After registering all I have left to do is secure my transfers to and from the airport and work out a schedule for the days I'll be going to Disney (or Universal Studios). I am so excited to meet up with Kelly (from Kellyvision) and to see what authors might be there. I am also insanely excited for BEA 2016 in Chicago (which I am already registered for).
