My next selection is one that sounds amazing, has very little details released, and is historical.
Its Victorian Era London setting has me very excited for Reader, I Murdered Him by Betsy Cornwell.
The Goodreads synopsis is mostly just the deal announcement which was more than enough to get me excited.
In this daring tale of female agency and revenge from a New York Times bestselling author, a girl becomes a teenage vigilante who roams Victorian England using her privilege and power to punish her friends’ abusive suitors and keep other young women safe.
Here are the top three reasons I cannot wait to get my hands on this:
1. This historical aspect of the story intrigues me quite a bit. This feels like it could literally be set in any time period and work so I am excited to see how it is shaped by this specific time period.
2. I have read one of Betsy Cornwell's other books and enjoyed it quite a bit. I am excited to see what her writing style adds to this book.
3. It sort of reminds me of the premise for Promising Young Woman in that it is a woman out for revenge against men who have wronged women. I am entirely on board with having more murderous, dangerous female characters.
Reader, I Murdered Him released September 21, 2021. Be sure to add it to your Goodreads and preorder where available (not all preorder links are available at this time).
