Annual Ottawa Book Blogger Meet Up - Sign up!

It's time for the annual Ottawa Book Blogget Meet Up. It's a fun afternoon of book chat, and a great chance to meet some fellow bloggers, so I hope anyone in the area will join us.

Planning is under way and we do need final numbers for a reservation, and there may be some prizes, and other goodies.

If you would like to join us the date is May 1, 2016 and we're meeting in the afternoon! The place is to be determined (as is the exact time) as we have to wait to see what numbers we have first, but we are thinking of a restaurant so we can grab lunch.

Please email aglassofwineblog@gmail.com with OTTAWA BLOGGER MEET UP 2016 in the subject line (so I can find it easily) by February 15. Please include your name, your blog name and a link to your blog. Please also include your twitter name (if you have one).

The date of February 15 is firm as we will be planning and booking things at that point. Unfortunately we will not be able to accommodate late sign ups once sign ups are closed.

Looking forward to meeting everyone, and hope you can make it!

Weekly Obsessions

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every Saturday.

Here are my obsessions this week:

BOOK

Second Star cover

Peter Pan meets surfing (and a Hook/Wendy/Peter) triangle? YES PLEASE! I am liking this cover A LOT. It's soft, and pretty and of course the title Second Star (to the right) is perfect for a Pan inspired novel. The synopsis is intriguing as well. May I have it now please?!

Cover of Between The Spark And The Burn

Between The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea surprised me. It was beautifully Gothic and sexy. I am hoping this sequel is just as amazing. I do love the cover, it matches the first perfectly. Be sure to add it to your Goodreads account.

TV/MOVIE

Ariel on Once Upon A Time

It's finally here! The Ariel episode of Once Upon A Time!

JoAnna Garcia is perfect as Ariel, and I am loving what I've seen so far. I can't wait to see how she meets Prince Eric and what twist they'll put on this tale. Not surprised at all with Regina being the 'Ursula' for this story.

Robbie Kay as Peter Pan

Again! Yes. Robbie Kay keeps stealing the show. When an actor can own an episode where they are not the focus, that impresses me. This past episode he manged to steal it in the last few minutes. I am going to be sad to lose him from the show when the Neverland arc comes to an end.

Catching Fire trailer

Jennifer Lawrence is perfect as Katniss. That final scene where she is freaking out, and Peeta is trying to help her but she can't hear him? Heartbreaking (even more so if you've read the books and know what is going on in that scene). My only complaint? NOT ENOUGH FINNICK!

Ontario Blogger Meet Up

It's this week! When this goes up it'll be the day of the meet up! I can't wait. Expect a recap when I get back. There should be little to no disturbance in blog content while I am away.

Weekly Obsessions

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every Saturday.

Here are my obsessions this week:

BOOK

Cover of Katherine Longshore's Brazen

I revealed this earlier in the week, and have a great contest going on. It reminds me of chocolate, and therefore I love it. The teaser excerpt also makes me want to READ IT IMMEDIATELY.

OTHER

Ontario Blogger Meet Up

This time next week I will be in Toronto taking part in a huge meet up that is sure to be filled with bookish fun. I am very excited about seeing everyone again, and getting to chat with fellow bloggers about all things bookish.

Here are my obsessions this week:

**SPOILERS FOR AMERICAN HORROR STORY: COVEN**

BOOK

Cover reveal for Brazen by Katherine Longshore

This Wednesday I have the honour of revealing the cover for Katherine Longshore's newest novel. Brazen sounds amazing, and the cover matches Gilt and Tarnish perfect. Be sure to stop by to check it out!

Reader/Blogger Wishlist

If you don't know what Reader/Blogger Wishlist is Jessica from Read My Breath Away describes it much better than I could. Basically, if you have Twitter, join readers and bloggers who will be posting their wishlist of books they wish existed. I am taking part, and can not wait to see what everyone wants to read. The twitter party is happening THIS Monday.

Cover of Jodi Lynn Anderson's The Vanishing Season

It's so pretty! I am a huge fan of Jodi Lynn Anderson's Tigerlily. One of the most beautifully written books I've ever read. Its one I push people to read. I am excited to get my hands on this beacause I know the writing will be amazing, and the synopsis sounds AMAZING!

Allegiant by Veronica Roth

This Tuesday everyone! THIS TUESDAY! I have the day off work. Wine and cupcakes shall be purchased. Pizza shall be ordered for dinner. My day shall be spent reading. I've, sadly, already been spoiled for this, but I am none the less excited to finally finish Tris and Four's story.

TV/MOVIE

Endless Love Trailer

Risque, sexy and intense. This is a remake of an older movie, and seems to be all about obsessive love. The Sisterhood of the Traveling Bookclub will be reading this one just in time for the movie to come out in February. The music is rather chilling. A slowed down version of Addicted To Love sort of fits this story perfectly. Oh, and I fully expect this to be rated R.

Dracula

The new TV series, Dracula is premiering on Oct 25th! That's this week. I am beyond excited. I hope they twist the original story a little bit and make it incredibly fun.

Evan Peters in American Horror Story: Coven

Episode 2! That is the episode that Even Peters BLEW ME AWAY! This is something different from what he's previously played on this show. He's done it brilliantly, and I am so excited about his storyline for this season. The Frankenstein aspect to his story, and how he portrayed someone being pieced back together and brought back to life is pretty amazing. He totally impressed me with those few scenes and I expect many more as he slowly regains his personality, and control.

OTHER

Ontario Blogger Meet Up

We are getting so close! The other Ottawa Blogettes and myself will be traveling to Ottawa to hang out with our fellow book lovers. I am really looking forward to a fun weekend.

Here are my obsessions this week:

Cute right? Totally cute. Mix this cover with a fun synopsis and you have the makings of a perfect summer beach read. I hope it's as adorable as I think it's going to be!

Cover of Prisoner of Night and Fog by Anne Blankman

Read the synopsis...I'll give you a second. HITLER IS HER UNCLE! I am sold. Sign me up. May I have this book now please?! Yup, it's going to be an intense historical. Super excited.

Here are my obsessions this week:

TV/MOVIE

Ariel from Once Upon A Time w/ a dinglehopper

It's a dinglehopper! Joanna Garcia is getting into character as Ariel for Once Upon A Time. Does she not look perfect? I had a bit of a freak out when Ginnifer Goodwin posted this on her Twitter. The show returns in less than two weeks, and I can't wait to meet our Ariel!

OTHER

TV recaps

The official announcement will be forthcoming, but I am going to be adding Once Upon A Time recaps to this blog. Expect more information TOMORROW! Super excited about it, and can't wait to share how it's going to work.

Ontario Blog Squad Meet Up Recap

This past weekend a bunch of Ottawa bloggers and I were fortunate enough to attend the annual event put on by the ladies at Ontario Blog Squad. Having not been able to attend the first event, I wasn't really sure what to expect. It ended up being a fabulous day filled with laughter, book talk, and meeting some wonderful people.

Katie from Bookishly Yours, Emilie from Emilie's Book World, Ciara from Lost at Midnight, and Meaghan from Feeling A Little Bookish traveled to Toronto for the weekend.

The location was a great choice. The food was excellent, and the waterfront was really pretty setting. The amount of planning and preparation that the Ontario Blog Squad members put into the event was evident. The fun little trivia games, and taking the time to introduce themselves really made a difference. It was set up to allow us to mingle and really talk to the other bloggers, publishers and authors in attendance.

The atmosphere was what really made the event. So much excitement about books, and just getting to meet the bloggers behind some of the blogs we frequent. My favourite part, by far, was getting to mingle and say hello to everyone.

My book haul from the event

I think our entire table squealed with happiness when we saw Sever. I am also very excited to read the rest, and must say that Etiquette and Espionage looks really good.

It was lovely to meet Michele from Just A Lil Lost, Shannon and Vickie from Harper Collins Canada, Amy from Penguin Canada, Nicole from Nicole About Town, Angel from Mermaid Vision Books, Jen from Storytime with Jen, The Cupcake Queen Wendy, Christa from Hooked on Books, Lesley Livingston, Lindsey from A Storm of Words and many more. To anyone I met and didn't single out - SORRY! It was a whirlwind and everyone was so lovely.

To my fellow Ottawa Blogettes (and road trip partners) all I want to say is THANK YOU! You ladies are awesome and I am so glad we have our little group.

I just want to thank all the ladies behind the Ontario Blog Squad for a wonderful event. Your hard work and planning is greatly appreciated. The publishers and authors who came to mingle with us, and of course, my fellow bloggers for being rockstars. I am so happy to be a part of this fun, crazy and wonderful community.

See you all next year!

Weekly Obsessions

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every Saturday.

BOOKS

Glitter and Doom by Bethany Griffin

I stumbled upon this whlie looking at the Harper Collins summer catalog. A e-novella coming between Masque of the Red Death and Dance of the Red Death. Super excited to read it and find out who it's about. Does it feature someone else's point of view other than Araby?

Cover of Josephine Angelini's Goddess

These covers are rather striking, and I think I like this one the most out of all of them. I am curious to find out how Helen's story ends (and if she ends up with Orion).

Cover for Belladonna by Fiona Paul

I really enjoyed Venom and can't wait to read the follow up. This cover is just as pretty as the first in the series.

Cover for Towering by Alex Flinn

I didn't know this was even being released. I LOVE fairytale re-tellings and this one about Rapunzel sounds awesome.

TV

Once Upon A Time's Killian Jones (AKA Hook)

Yup...totally smitten. Devilish charm, a stunning accent and the guyliner. It all worked, and I hope he stays forever.

OTHER

Ontario Blogger Meet Up

This event takes place TODAY! I am beyond excited to meet so many people that I talk to over twitter. It is going to be an amazing afternoon filled with books and book chat. I am also really looking forward to the Cassandra Clare signing right after that we are all heading to. It is going to be a incredible but busy day.

Weekly Obsessions

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every Saturday.

Here are my obsessions this week:

BOOKS

Potential Jenny Han and Siobhan Vivian signing

The Burn For Burn tour is coming to Canada! Three dates were released, but details are still being worked out for exact locations. I have the potential to go if they come to Montreal, and would obviously go if they come to Ottawa. I really hope to get to go as I would love signed hardcover of Burn For Burn. Such a fun read, and it totally surprised me!

TV

The Vampire Diaries season 4 promo

*SPOILERS FOR SEASON 3! AVERT YOUR EYES*

I love this show and the ending of season 3 is exactly why the word game changer exists. Everything is about to change for the residents of Mystic Falls and I am looking forward to seeing what the aftermath looks like. Also, jumpy claps for all the great Stefan/Elena stuff in this preview. #TeamStefanAlways #HeHasNotKilledJeremy

OTHER

Mara Dyer Week #2

Last year when The Unbecoming Of Mara Dyer came out I hosted a Mara Dyer week on my blog. I had a lot of fun with it, and since I am obsessed with this series (and Noah Shaw) I decided to make this year's release week extra special. I have some fantastic posts, and some AMAZING prizes in store. Get excited, and pre-order The Evolution of Mara Dyer...just trust me.

The Ontario Blogger Meet Up

The lovely bloggers behind this huge event happening in Toronto at the beginning of November have started to release some details about surprises at the event. I am beyond excited to meet some really amazing bloggers whom I have interacted with online! Getting to talk books with smart, fun, and insightful reviewers is always welcome and the event sounds like so much fun. If this were not enough they have arranged for some surprise guests to stop by the event. Expect a full recap when I get back, and until the event my excitement will be growing!
