What I Love This Week...

BOOK

Cassandra Clare book news

You may have heard that Cassandra Clare sold a new trilogy of books. These will take place AFTER her Mortal Instruments series and in LA. While the Mortal Instruments series takes place in the 1990's these will be current date. I am excited to see what happens to everyone who is still alive at the end of Mortal Instruments as they will have brief cameos, mentions, etc. As always I hope Magnus Bane is in them. LOVE him. The title of this series is The Dark Artifices with the first book being released in 2015.

MOVIE

The Hunger Games

The only word that comes to mind is AMAZING. I thought the entire cast did a fantastic job. Jennifer Lawrence was PERFECT as Katniss, Josh Hutcherson  was wonderfully sweet as Peeta, Liam Hemsworth was great as Gale. I loved Lenny Kravitz as Cinna SO MUCH. Donald Sutherland is going to make a chilling President Snow for the later books, and Stanley Tucci was amazing as Ceaser Flickman.Obviously, the books are better (they always are) but as far as adaptations go - they got it right. The little changes they made were not a big deal (to me anyways). I cried, I gasped, and was fully entertained the entire time. I can't wait to see this movie again. My only question is - Who is going to be playing that hottie Finnick Odair in Catching Fire?!

Snow White and the Huntsmen Trailer # 2



I want to see this movie NOW!!!!! This looks amazing, and visually stunning.

Charlize Theron is perfect as the Evil Queen. The way she says "Let them come" at the end gives me shivers. I was sceptical of the casting of Kristen Stewart, but Charlize has won me over and I will see this.

I also love how Charlize delivers these killer lines -

"Lips red as blood, hair black as night. Bring me your heart, my dear, dear Snow White.”

Seriously chilling, and I have a feeling this is going to be one of the top movies of the summer.

Once Upon A Time - Alice in Wonderland episode



This promo looks amazing. I have a feeling Sebastian Stan's Mad Hatter is going to impress. He looks creepy and definitely unbalanced. I love this show so much, if you're not watching it you should be!

J.K. Rowling to publish new book

My twitter feed pretty much exploded when the news was released. I may have let out a squeal while at work. I love that we know pretty much nothing other than a few basics and the world pretty much went crazy. I am excited to see how J.K. Rowling tackles an adult novel. I am thrilled it's coming out later THIS year.

How creepy is this cover? How awesome is it at the same time? I love the little tag line as well - Ten teens. Three days. One killer. Chills right?! The Goodreads synopsis sounds excellent as well!

I really enjoyed Cold Kiss. This is the stunning cover for the sequel. Seriously...LOVE! I bet the hardcover is going to be shiny and quite pretty. No synopsis is released yet, but you can add it on Goodreads.

Ann Aguirre new book trilogy

If you read Enclave (or read my review) perhaps you'll be as excited as I am. This trilogy is described as Doctor Faustus meets Mean Girls in this edgy paranormal revenge trilogy set in a dark world of secret societies, twisted bargains, and forbidden love.

The three books are called Mortal Beauty, Dire Charm and Dead Lovely. Super excited as it sounds amazing. The only downside? Waiting until 2014 when Mortal Beauty is released.

Once Upon A Time

Alice in Wonderland is coming to Storybrooke! We are going to meet the Mad Hatter! They've also teased that we will find out who the Big Bad Wolf is, and that Belle will be back. This show really is amazing, and I am thrilled that we are getting the Alice in Wonderland characters. Still on my wishlist are the Peter Pan characters, and a certain mermaid!

MOVIE

The Hunger Games movie tickets

I have mine! Do you have yours? They are apparently selling out quickly. Super excited to watch this with one of my best friends, and my sister.

Pandemonium by Lauren Oliver

I read this and it is just as fantastic as Delirium. The ending killed me and I can't wait for book three. More details will be in my upcoming review but this is one you don't want to miss!

The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater

This sounds amazing. I am so curious about The Raven Boys, and the description has me dying to read it. I also happen to love the cover. If you want to learn more you can read the full synopsis and details at Goodreads.

Hunger Games Trailer # 2



So you've seen this right? About 1,000,000 times right? It's perfection. Cinna! I have come to really love the thought of Lenny Kravitz as Cinna now. When he puts his finger to his lips after putting the Mockingjay pin on Katniss...goosebumps. The wait for March seems endless! Goes without saying that you will all be getting your tickets early right?!

Marissa Meyer Canadian Event

Sigh...I wish I lived in British Columbia so I could go to this. If you read my review you'll know I loved Cinder! Marissa is making her only Canadian stop in Burnaby. If you happen to be in the area on Feb 11th stop by and pick up a signed copy.

I pretty much want this hanging on my wall. Really big. I found the photographer's website where I can make this happen. Her name is Heather Landis and she has a bunch of amazing photos. I am in love. I will be ordering myself this in the new year to decorate. *squee*

There was a huge buzz surrounding this on twitter when it was released. It is awesome, and it just makes me wish it was March already.

The Golden Globes nominations

Here is where I admit to loving awards season. LOVE. I especially love it if people I enjoy get nominated for an award. For instance people like the delicious and talented Joseph Gordon - Levitt. He was nominated for his fantastic work in 50/50. A movie everyone should see.

Other nominations am excited about -

~ Rooney Mara for Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. This makes me excited because I want this movie to be awesome and this is a good sign.
~ Michael Fassbender for Shame. I have heard excellent things about this movie and him in particular.
~ Michelle Williams for My Week With Marilyn. LOVE her in this movie. She was untouchable in this role, and to me she should win.
~ Ryan Gosling's double nomination. It's never a bad thing when Ryan Gosling gets to wear a tux! :)

I could go on and on but I won't. Needless to say, I am looking forward to the Oscar nominations in the new year.

Book Expo America

Ok, I know it's not until June but I am already excited. I will be buying my pass in Jan and have already started looking at hotels. I am super excited. I am hoping the Class of 2012 authors have an event at Books of Wonder like they did last year. I also hope to have drinks and talk books with some bloggers this time as I didn't really know anyone last year. If anyone else is going, let me know!

I love this cover so much more than the cover on the ARCs. This cover seems like it fits so much better with the story. I love the palm trees in the background, and the hot angel with the arm tattoo doesn't hurt either!

Anyone that follows me on Twitter could guess this would be on here. I love our brief glimpse of Cinna! <3! Jennifer looks great as Katniss (that scene where she volunteers - PERFECT). I totally get chills when the countdown starts, and they all start running. My heart starts to race, and I am on the edge of my seat. It's going to be intense. I am so looking forward to this movie. Can it be March already?!

Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare

I just finished this book the other day. I LOVE both the Mortal Instruments and Infernal Devices series and this book is Cassandra Clare's best one yet. I am so excited to talk about it when it's released!

Um, do you see the gorgeousness??! Seriously. Swoon. It's stunning. The synopsis takes my breath away too! I have been obsessed. So obsessed that it will become my icon sometime next week. See my WoW post for this week for more.

The Die For Me cover was so pretty. This is even more stunning. I am hoping the North American cover is just as stunning and can't wait to see it.

Jeremy and Anna from The Vampire Diaries


One of my favourite, if not my favourite, couples on Vampire Diaries. Anna got to visit Jeremy in this week's episode even though she died last season, and I got a little emotional. Ok, so maybe a lot emotional. They are adorable together, and I am so sad we can't keep Anna forever. Steven R McQueen and Malese Jow have amazing chemistry.

I am sure everyone has seen them. They are awesome. They give me hope that our beloved story will come alive on the big screen in a way that makes us happy. PEETA!! <3 The trailer for My Week With Marilyn



Michelle Williams has already given me goosebumps in this brief glimpse. Taking on an icon like Marilyn Monroe would not be easy, and Michelle totally nails it (at least in the trailer). So excited to see this one.

Vacation

I am off for the next week from work and have been looking forward to it all week. I am going to Toronto on Nov 1 and will be there for a couple days. My friend Maria and I are going to relax, and maybe have dinner at Moroco Chocolat.
