Books I Want Made Into A Movie (or TV Show)....

I made a list of these awhile ago. That list still applies, however I've read some amazing books lately. Books that I would LOVE to see turned into a movie. Some of my previous choices have even made it onto this list again (Let’s consider those books that MUST be turned into a movie).

Here are the 10 books I would want to see made into a movie (or TV show) right now…..

1 The Apprenticeship of Victor Frankenstein series by Kenneth Oppel

A dark, adventure filled plot that would translate into an action packed movie. The characters and the entire plot gave me the same feeling as when I read Harry Potter - almost like it was made to be turned into a movie.

2 The Mara Dyer series by Michelle Hodkin

This series has quickly become one of my favourites. The insane twists would play out amazingly on screen. The steamy romance between Noah and Mara would require chemistry between the two actors to portray accurately, but I would love to see it come to life.

3 Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn

With many twists and turns that would make an incredible movie. A tense look at a messed up relationship, Gone Girl would play out wonderfully with the right actors. Luckily this one is in the early stages of being adapted for the big screen, and I can't wait.

4 The Infernal Devices Series by Cassandra Clare

Now that The Mortal Instruments is on it's way to becoming a huge hit at the box office, I immediately thought this should become a movie. I would love to see Jem, Tessa and Will brought to life. I would love for the same director, team to be involved with this one as well. The historical aspect also makes it appealing for adaptation.

5 Immortal City by Scott Speer

While reading this book, I could see the potential for a TV show or movie. It read like it was made to be a CW show. The crime noir feel would translate really well. The glitz and glamour of Hollywood contrasted with the darker side of Los Angeles would also be striking on screen.

6 Masque of the Red Death by Bethany Griffin

I would love to see the setting of this come to life. The Debauchery Club would be electric. The fashion, the scenery, and characters could be visually stunning if done the right way. It has the potential to be one of the most beautifully shot movies with the right director as well.

7 From What I Remember by Stacy Kramer

This reminded me a lot of those fun 80's teen romantic comedies. A teenaged spin on the popular Hangover movies, with a coming of age element dealing with saying goodbye to highschool. A fun cast of characters would also play out well on screen.

8 Cinder by Marissa Meyer

This has to be a movie. My request for this one? Joss Whedon as director. He would do wonderful things with this genre and these characters.

9 Black City by Elizabeth Richards

The world of Black City would look amazing on screen. The heavy political aspect of the novel would allow for lots of tension and action. The sensual nature of the Darklings, and Ash in particular would provide the romance element. My only request is Ezra Miller for Ash!

10 Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi

This novel is begging to be turned into a movie. Romance, action, and shades of the X-Men series assures that this will be a hit with movie goers. I only hope that Tahereh's beautiful writing style comes across cinematically as well as it does in the novel.

Immortal City by Scott Speer



THIS TRAILER! GAH! So amazing. Scott Speer is a director and you can tell he used his talents to make this. The actor they got for Jackson Godspeed - SWOON! Totally hot and exactly how I pictured him. It's got the right balance of glitz and grit that they book has. If it doesn't make you want to read the book I am not sure what will.

Sweet Evil by Wendy Higgins



Sexy and a little gothic this trailer has made me want to get a copy of Sweet Evil immediately. I love the southern accent they use too!

The Immortal Rules trailer



I loved this first instalment of Julie Kagawa's new series. I think the trailer give you a good picture of how ravaged and destroyed everything is. Pick this one up for sure, it's a great read.

Amy Plum's new series news

Amy announced that she will be writing a two book series set in Alaska. The premise sounds amazing. Here is the official release details:

Author of the DIE FOR ME trilogy, Amy Plum’s JUNEAU, about a seventeen-year-old girl who has been raised to believe that her family, and the rest of their village, escaped World War III by moving to a remote area in the Alaskan wilderness – but when everyone in her village mysteriously disappears, she’s forced to set off in search of them, only to discover that her life has been a lie and there never was a third World War.

These will be released Summer 2014 and 2015 and I can't wait to get my hands on them.

As soon as Blake Lively's character says "Just because I am telling you this story doesn't mean I am alive at the end of it" I was hooked. It looks great and it's based on a best selling book. Part gangster, part sexy and part action means I am so there opening night!

BEA Autograph Schedule

I may have hyperventilated and screamed at this year's BEA autograph schedule. Bethany Griffin, Veronica Roth, Stephanie Perkins,and Kat Zhang are just some of the authors signing at BEA. My Wednesday is going to be pretty packed and crazy. I am looking forward to meeting so many amazing authors and getting to spend time with fellow book lovers.

The novel opens with someone driving recklessly down a sharp turning road. The guy is pushing the limits because he can; he is protected by an angel. These are not the Angels that you’re used to. These Angels are considered celebrities by the public. They protect people but do it for a price. If you lucky enough to afford this protection, and be assigned an Angel you can take the risk. For the other, less fortunate people, you won’t be as lucky. The first chapter make you aware of the glaringly unfair advantage the rich and powerful have.

Jackson is the hottest, and most talked about Angel in all of Angel City. He also happens to be one of the youngest Angels to be commissioned as a Guardian. He is followed by paparazzi, on the cover of many magazines, and the dream guardian of girls (and women) all over the world. Jackson is a little full of himself, but it doesn’t come across as annoyingly so. He has had people tell him how special, wonderful and good looking he is and it’s hard not to let that go to your head. Jackson is also very focused. His duty is very important to him. The protection he is assigned is going to be his number one priority and he takes it very seriously. He’s been training is whole life for this. It’s this part of his personality that I really liked. He’s doing what he thinks is right and is trying to not disappoint anyone. He has a huge weight of expectations on his shoulders, and the pressure might just prove to be too much for the young angel.

Madison is immediately likeable. She’s just a girl who wants to get through high school, get into a college and get out of Angel City. She doesn’t have time for boys, parties, and especially has no time to obsess over the Angels like everyone else. Her parents died when she was young and she lives with her Uncle and they are just trying to survive. Maddy wants nothing to do with Jackson when she first meets him. Something that is made even more clear when she goes on her first date with him. His world and her world do not mix, and Maddy isn’t really interested in trying to fit into it. I loved that she didn’t just fall at his feet. I can totally see why Jackson would pursue her because she offered him something he didn’t have before - a chance to be seen as Jackson instead of JACKSON GOODSPEED.

This novel is much grittier than I was expecting. It’s filled with the darker side of LA but infused with Jackson’s “celebrity” lifestyle. The author uses rain, darkness, and an overall feeling of dread to keep the flim  noir feel throughout the novel. I can picture the detectives in trench coats, and old Hollywood glamour.

The author has a background in directing. This comes through in his writing and as a result this novel practically screams to be made into a CW TV show. So many of the scenes are laid out in a way that you can not only visualize the surroundings but it leaves you with a feel of the scene. The first time we are introduced to the horror of angel wings on the Walk of Fame is chilling, and set up to be a striking image. The blood, mixing with the grittiness and rain in LA back dropped against the glamour of the Angels is almost a metaphor for the novel itself.

The twists and surprises in the novel were actual surprises. There were a few I could see coming, but plenty of things caught me by surprise. The angel serial killer part of the storyline was quite well done. The killer’s reasoning is believable, and the systematic way it was being done was chilling. The motivation behind it had turned into something darker, and that often drives people to extremes. I was happy to say that I did not figure out the killer before it was revealed but upon reflection the clues are there.

Scott Speer mixes danger, glitz, glamour, romance, and adds a huge dash of crime noir to create something really unique. This book may not be for everyone, but I fully enjoyed the atmosphere, characters and surprises the author created.

Pretty sure I *might* have mentioned Immortal City before. It sounds awesome. I may have did a little happy dance when it showed up in my mailbox. Saving this until Jan when it'll count towards my Debut Author Challenge is going to be HARD. A huge thank you to the lovely ladies at Penguin Canada for sending this along.

I had been on a waiting list for what seems like forever to get Wolfsbane, but now I have it. I am hoping to dive into it soon.

I have been super excited about Gilt by Katherine Longshore. I have some amazing stuff planned for the release, and Katherine was kind enough to send me some GORGEOUS bookmarks for the event I am planning. They are stunning! I am sad these photos do not do them justice.

I love this cover so much more than the cover on the ARCs. This cover seems like it fits so much better with the story. I love the palm trees in the background, and the hot angel with the arm tattoo doesn't hurt either!

The Hunger Games movie trailer



Anyone that follows me on Twitter could guess this would be on here. I love our brief glimpse of Cinna! <3! Jennifer looks great as Katniss (that scene where she volunteers - PERFECT). I totally get chills when the countdown starts, and they all start running. My heart starts to race, and I am on the edge of my seat. It's going to be intense. I am so looking forward to this movie. Can it be March already?!

Not only is this book released on my birthday, but it sounds awesome. I am both repulsed by, and intrigued by the angel wings on the Walk of Fame. The cover is hot! The guy, the arm tattoo - seriously DROOL!
