Weekly Obsessions

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every weekend.

This is a bit late and that is because I forgot to actually check that it posted.

This week  is filled with movie and television trailers. Some exciting things coming up!

TV/MOVIES

Dash and Lily Trailer

I really enjoyed the book by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan. It's cute and is perfect for the holiday season as the trailer showcases.

I think the music chosen compliments everything else perfectly. This is one I am going to be binge watching as soon as it is released.

All My Life Trailer

This movie looks like one that you'll need to have tissues handy for. It's based off a real life couple's love story and looks like a real tearjerker.

I started crying as soon as he meets her with the dog because you instantly know what it means. This one is, apparently, coming to theatres in November.

The Flight Attendant Trailer

This trailer caught my attention to the point that I immediately ordered the book this television series is based on. I hope to read it before the end of November when the show premieres.

I love a good mystery and I especially love that the victim doesn't disappear from the story right away. It seems like he is going to be a hallucination of hers for a little while at least.

Weekly Obsessions

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every weekend.

I feel like TV is really the only thing getting announcements right now. Everything is kind of on hold while we practice social distancing for the foreseeable future.

TV/MOVIES

Trailer for The Forgotten West Memphis Three

The West Memphis Three case is one of those cases that I wish was definitively solved. It's always angered me that this case was so badly handled and that the three victims never really got justice.

There is a new two night special event airing on the Oxygen network (which we cannot get in Canada) that I am hoping to eventually be able to check out.

I am curious to see what new leads might come out of this special. It seems like they are doing a lot of forensic testing so hopefully something comes from it.

The first episode actually aired yesterday on the Oxygen Network, with the second to air this evening. I think it is available to stream on the Oxygen app in the United States for those interested.

Defending Jacob Trailer

This immediately caught my attention because it has Chris Evans in it. It also happens to be based on a book which also tends to make me pay attention to something.

This looks really good, and I am glad Chris is taking so many different kinds of roles right now. It is going to help distance him from just being seen as Captain America.

This will be on Apple TV+ in April and I cannot wait to check it out.

Weekly Obsessions

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every weekend.

BOOKS

Cover for Meet You In The Middle by Devon Daniels (goodreads)

Berkley has been absolutely killing it with their romance novels lately and I am really excited for this one that deals with politics and boats a really cute cover.

This book has a fall release so it'll be a bit of a wait, but if Berkley's track record is any indication, it is going to be worth the wait.

MOVIES/TV

Candyman Trailer

I enjoyed the original Candyman a lot and was excited when I heard that Jordan Peele was involved in a sequel/reboot of sorts. Nia DaCosta is directing and the trailer looks amazing.

There is so much going on in this trailer. We have that incredible remix of Say My Name by Destiny's Child. It is a perfect use of a song in a trailer. Definite goosebumps were happening. We also have the confirmation that the original Candyman Tony Todd is reprising his role. There is no mistaking his recognizable voice. There is also more than just that linking it to the original however as we do see another original cast member (who I assume is reprising their role as well). The trailer is slick, tense and pretty much ensures people will be interested in seeing it when it releases in the summer.

American Horror Story Season Ten Cast Announcement

Ryan Murphy recently shared a video on his Instagram that announced the cast of the upcoming season of American Horror Story.

First, the big news is that Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters are set to return. They are huge fan favourites so people are excited. A moody shore line and Orville Peck's Dead of Night set the tone for the announcement and, I presume, the season.

I, however, am more excited by the reveal that Macaulay Culkin is joining the cast! He feels like such a natural fit for a Ryan Murphy show that I am surprised it has taken this long for Ryan to get him to appear in one. The return of Finn Wittrock is also very exciting for me (which surprises nobody). This cast is one of the few to get me really excited since the Hotel cast was announced. It's just such ridiculously good casting. I need to know the theme and other details immediately.

Shadow and Bone Netflix Series

The first season of Shadow and Bone has finished filming and Netflix has graced us with this really fun cast video. I love it.
I particularly love that Ben Barnes does not say who is he playing (even though we all know) and the very obvious 'Bad Guy' sign by what I am assuming is his trailer. I love that they are blending both the Shadow and Bone series with the Six of Crow series and the casting is PERFECT.

Weekly Obsessions

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every weekend.

Another week in which this did not auto post!

BOOKS

cover by Majesty by Katharine McGee (goodreads)

I enjoyed American Royals when it came out last year. It, of course, leaves of on a cliffhanger so I have been excited to get my hands on the sequel.

The cover was just revealed and it is just as fun as the cover for the first book.

I think I like the colour scheme for this one more than the first though! It is bright and light in a way that the other one wasn't.

MOVIES/TV

Hollywood (Netflix)

We have a release date and poster art for Ryan Murphy's next Netflix series. It's based on Hollywood in the 1940's. Other than someone playing Rock Hudson I believe all the other characters are created for the show.

The post is amazing and I love that tagline. I cannot wait to see a trailer and I hope we might see some other well known celebrities of that time period worked into the story.

Weekly Obsessions

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every Saturday.

BOOKS

Synopsis for The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V. E. Schwab (goodreads)
I have been eagerly anticipating any news on this book and we finally got a release date and synopsis. I am even more obsessed with this book now and I cannot wait to get my hands on it.
France, 1714: in a moment of desperation, a young woman makes a Faustian bargain to live forever-and is cursed to be forgotten by everyone she meets.

Thus begins the extraordinary life of Addie LaRue, and a dazzling adventure that will play out across centuries and continents, across history and art, as a young woman learns how far she will go to leave her mark on the world.

But everything changes when, after nearly 300 years, Addie stumbles across a young man in a hidden bookstore, and he remembers her name.

In the vein of The Time Traveler's Wife and Life After Life, The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue is New York Times bestselling author V. E. Schwab's #1 New York Times Bestselling Author genre-defying tour de force.
Doesn't this sound incredible? It is pretty much the number one book I hope is at Book Expo this year.

Cover for Hush by Dylan Farrow (goodreads)

Not only does this book sound amazing, but I LOVE the cover. It's simple and yet so eye catching.

I love that it sort of looks like a blank page with dark ink spill across it. Very fitting of the blurb. It also sounds really feminist and like it'll be about a woman finding her voice.

Cover for Blood and Honey by Shelby Mahurin (goodreads)

I loved the first book in this series way more than I anticipated loving it and was therefore happy to hear that we would be getting the sequel this fall.

The cover is so vivid and bright that it instantly draws your attention and it also keeps the theme from the previous cover going.

That tagline though! I am not liking the sound of death parting Louise and Reid.

MOVIES/TV

Daisy Jones and the Six casting news

We have our Billy! Sam Claflin will join Riley Keough to star in the television adaptation of Daisy Jones and the Six. I first saw the news in The Hollywood Reporter but quickly saw it verified all over.

I am mostly really into this casting except for the fact I am not sure if Sam can sing. I do think he and Riley will be terrific acting wise though. Here is hoping they have insane chemistry.

OTHER

Marilyn Monroe Funko

I have always been a fan of Marilyn Monroe and her movies. I have gotten even more into the golden age of Hollywood recently, so it should come as no surprise that I need to buy this immediately.

She is one of her most iconic poses, and actually transfers into the Funko style pretty well.

Book Expo

I got my press pass for Book Expo approved this year so I'll be heading to New York in May! I cannot wait to go again and have already started looking at what theater tickets I want to get, and what else might be going on in NYC while I am there. Shake Shack is a must, but I am so excited to discover what is new in the city that is always changing.

Hamilton Comes To Ottawa (and theaters near everyone)

Hamilton is coming to Ottawa thanks to the Broadway Across Canada performance that will be at  NAC. I managed to get a ticket in for a performance in June and I am really excited to be in the room where it happens. This also brings me to the fact that Hamilton will be coming to cinemas everywhere thanks to Disney securing the rights to distribute the recording that was done with the original cast. It doesn't come out until 2021 but it'll be worth the wait.

I love that everyone will get to see it with the original cast! I am so excited to see Jonathan Groff in this!

Weekly Obsessions

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every Saturday.

BOOKS

Cover for The Ravens by Kass Morgan and Danielle Paige (goodreads)

Paranormal, particularly in young adult, is back and I could not be happier. Witches seem to be part of the upcoming trend and I am here for all of it. I am especially looking forward to this modern take on witches set in a sorority.

The colour scheme of this novel is what immediately caught my eye. The splashes of pink on the black fit the witches in a sorority vibe perfectly in my opinion. This one doesn't come out until January of 2021 so we have a bit of a wait but the cover certainly got my attention.

MOVIES/TV

Trailer for Locke and Key

I recently devoured the Locke and Key series and fell in love. It's a story of grief and childhood that plays against a sort of horror backdrop. I was hesitant about the television series after reading it, but the trailer has brought me fully on board.

Bode's casting is PERFECTION and so much of the tone of the story seems to have been captured here. I am cautiously optimistic.

Promising Young Woman Trailer

I have not been able to stop thinking about this trailer since I first saw it. It's smart, biting, and already causing a lot of discussion.

Carey Mulligan looks to be giving a goosebumps giving performance in this and the subject matter could not be more timely.

Weekly Obsessions

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every Saturday.

A new year has begun and that means this post is back. There will be plenty of cover reveals, trailers, etc coming up in the next little bit and I am eager to share that excitement here each week.

This week, as the holidays are still wrapping up, is a small one.

MOVIES/TV

A Quiet Place Part II Trailer

I really enjoyed A Quiet Place when I finally got around to watching it. The sequel's trailer just released and it looks just as promising as the first movie.

I want to go see this in the movie theatre but I am curious about the noise of the people in the theatre. The first movie was really silent so I expect that every rustle of a popcorn bag, every drink of soda, and every time someone shifts in their seats is magnified because of the lack of sound coming from the movie. Anyone go see the first one in theatres? What was your experience?

Weekly Obsessions

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every Saturday.

We're heading into the holiday season and that is the time that announcements and reveals tend to be less frequent. People are busy and distracted by holiday cheer and shopping.

There are a few things that caught my attention recently that I am excited to share.

MOVIES/TV

FX Network's A Christmas Carol Trailer

This trailer showcases that the upcoming FX holiday special, A Christmas Carol, is going to be a much darker take on the classic story.

Really dark and I actually cannot wait to check this out. I hope it's good. The cast is certainly interesting.

Locke and Key Key Art

Netflix is adapting Joe Hill's Locke and Key graphic novels and they have just released their spooky first key art (no pun intended) for the series.

I have read some of this since the announcement and I am hooked. I cannot wait to read more and I hope this series is just as good. It will launch February 7th on Netflix and I expect you'll see lots of people picking up the graphic novels after binging the first season.

Weekly Obsessions

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every Saturday.

BOOKS

Entwined by A.J. Rosen (goodreads)

I stumbled across the synopsis for this book while browsing the publisher catalog and immediately was intrigued.
Finding your other half can get a little twisted

For Greek god descendant, Avery Montgomery, turning eighteen is a big deal. Not only is it her ticket to the Court, the world’s most lavish party for descendants, it also unlocks the ability to hear a “click” with her one true soulmate. As her eighteenth birthday looms, Avery finds herself drawn to two royal
descendants who couldn’t be more different—from each other, and from Ava herself—as she stumbles upon a dark side of the Court, which pushes her towards a revelation that will forever alter her past, and her future.
It sounds really fun, and hopefully as romantic as I am expecting.

OTHER

Baz Luhrmann Tweeting About His Elvis Biopic

Seems that preparations for the Baz Lurhmann Elvis Presely movie are underway and Baz shared a photo of his Elvis, Austin Butler, looking very Jailhouse Rock (in my opinion at least).
There is still two years before we'll get to see this movie. It releases in Oct 2021 but casting is beginning to happen with Olivia DeJonge being cast as Priscilla. I already have this one as a potential Oscar contender.

Broke and Bookish Secret Santa (link)

The Broke and Bookish Secret Santa has been a yearly Christmas tradition for me the last few years. I was happy to see that it will be continuing this years.

I am going to sign up again and highly recommend you do as well. It's a fun way to get into the holiday spirit. I cannot wait to see who I am paired with and get started shopping!

Weekly Obsessions

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every Saturday.

Posting on a Sunday. It's been a VERY long week and I have mostly been exhausted. There also wasn't too much released that caught my attention, but there are a few exciting things to chat about.

BOOKS

Cover of You Say It First by Katie Cotugno (goodreads)

This illustrated covers are always fun and this one definitely caught my eye. It's colour palette is perfect and gives up a vibe that fits the synopsis perfectly.

I really love the two characters and how they are drawn. Katie Cotugno always gets really fun covers, but I especially like this one.

MOVIES/TV

Marriage Story Trailer

I was already sold on Marriage Story thanks to the two teaser trailers that were released. I am even more sold after seeing this full trailer.

I have heard that Adam Drive gives an incredible, Oscar nomination worthy, performance in this. I heard all of the performances are good, but his tends to get singled out. I am also really happy that this is coming to Netflix so it'll be widely accessible to a lot of people.

Weekly Obsessions

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every Saturday.

Just a small post this week as not much was revealed. American Horror Story: 1984 starts next week which I am very excited about! Looking forward to sharing my recaps once it begins airing.

TV/MOVIES

The Politician posters

I am excited about Ryan Murphy's first show for Netflix. It's a comedy about a man who wants to be President (at least from what I understand). They reently released some posters and I love them!

This show is making all kinds of promises and I am here for it. I love all three of main ones so much. I am excited to see Ben Platt in something new and am always here for Jessica Lange to come show everyone how acting is done.

Just Mercy Trailer

The season of trailers for movies with Oscar potential is still upon us and the trailer for Just Mercy was just recently revealed. I have to say that it looks pretty good.

Michael B Jordan looks great in this and I could see it being something the Academy really latches on to.

OTHER

New York City Comic Con Exclusive - Stranger Things

Funko has been unveiling their New York City Comic Con exclusives and they have one Stranger Things Funko being offered.

The moment between Suzy and Dustin towards the end of the season is perfection and I am excited to add her to my collection.

Weekly Obsessions

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every Saturday.

Sunday post this week is thanks to the nasty end of summer cold I got this week. I was pretty much in bed for two days straight and am now behind on pretty much everything. I expect that I caught something on the flight back from Orlando.

BOOK

Cover of Undercover Bromance by Lyssa Kay Adams (goodreads)

The sequel to The Bromance Book Club recently had it's cover revealed and it is just as fun as I expected it would be. This entire series has me really excited and I cannot wait to read the The Bromance Book Club and begin eagerly anticipating this sequel.

The animated style covers that have been popular with romance novels recently are some of my faves! They're cute and offer up something a little different.

TV/MOVIES

American Horror Story: 1984 Trailer

The first official trailer for AHS: 1984 was recently released and it is giving me major slasher film vibes! I love the camp setting, and the obvious nods to some classic horror tropes.

I am expecting there to be two killers running around thanks to the casting reveal trailer BUT I think one is going to be more featured than the other. I cannot wait for the soundtrack this season!

The Aeronauts Trailer

Heights are not really my thing but this takes them to a whole new level. Some of the images are breathtaking and dizzying. I image it is going to look stunning in IMAX.

The plot also sounds interesting. I have no clue how accurate this is but I predict it'll be a fun, visually stunning film that will offer plenty of tense moments of the characters almost falling to their death.

Joker Final Trailer

This movie is going to be polarizing. It is going to have a bunch of strong opinions behind it (both for and against) and I predict there will be a ton written dissecting it. The trailer, however, indicates a beautifully shot, and incredibly acted movie. A, perhaps, controversial one.

We'll have to see what critics and fans think once it is released but I do like the grittier look of the trailer.

Joker Movie Poster

We also got a new poster to go along with the new trailer. We actually got a few but I love this new poster the most out of all of the new ones we got.

OTHER

New Stranger Things Funkos

I enjoyed both Robyn and Alexi in this new season of Stranger Things. I was excited that Funko would be releasing Funko Pops for both of them in the next wave and both are featuring moments from the third season that are fan favourites.

Weekly Obsessions

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every Saturday.

Sunday post this week thanks to a really quick trip to Orlando. I am probably behind on so many things but here is what is making me excited this week.

TV/MOVIES

A Marriage Story Trailers And Posters

This movie already had Oscar buzz before the release of the trailers but after watching both of these I think it might be warranted.

This is a story of a marriage crumbling and these trailers managed to make me invested in these characters. I also love the 'his and hers' marketing that they are doing for this.

Along with  these two trailers we get two movie posters that compliment each other. These seem to reflect a west coast / east coast vibe. Nicole is California and Charlie is New York, maybe?

I love the colour palette used for these two posters. They both invoke a specific feeling and I imagine that is going to come into play in the movie as well. It's high up on my list of movies to check out during Oscar season.

El Camino Trailer

I am both excited for and terrified of this movie being a thing. I loved Breaking Bad. It is easily one of my top five television shows EVER. Jesse Pinkman remains one of my favourite characters from a television show. I am one of those people who think that revivals/continuations/etc are a double edged sword. You are getting more of something you love BUT it has a high chance of being disappointing or ruining what you loved so much about the show in question

This trailer seems like it is going to answer the question of what happened to Jesse Pinkman after the events of Breaking Bad and I have such a detailed head cannon of what I wanted for that character that I am probably going to be disappointed in anything else (he better have kept driving that car all the way to Alaska and became a carpenter). I do, however, trust Vince Gilligan and the rest of his team to create something amazing. We'll see how it all plays out but I really don't want Jesse Pinkman to suffer anymore, he did that enough.

Weekly Obsessions

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every Saturday.

Another Sunday post. A lot of trailers to share this week and a new podcast that I am absolutely loving.

I binged the second season of Mindhunter and absolutely loved it. I am debating reviewing it so you might see one on here next week.

Speaking of next week... this might be a little sparse as I am heading to Orlando for two days and it is going to be a quick, packed week but I am going to do my best to have regular posts on the blog.

TV/MOVIES

Trailer For Little Women

This trailer had been much anticipated by fans of not just the actors involved but Greta Gerwig as well. It was finally released and was well worth the wait.

Those who are fans of Little Women seems to really love the trailer. I was certainly charmed by it and cannot wait to go see this. As long as it is showing in Ottawa on Boxing Day I think that is going to be how I spend the afternoon after Christmas.

Trailer For Last Christmas

This trailer certainly garnered a lot of discussion on Twitter for various reasons. I'll let you watch it before getting into my thoughts.

So I have a specific theory about Henry Golding's character and none of them are indicative of a happy ending for this movie. I wanted a cute holiday rom-com and I think we're getting something else entirely. I am pretty sure it is going to have more in common with It's A Wonderful Life than people were anticipating. The script was apparently inspired by the Wham! song Last Christmas.  Unrelated side note - how charming is Henry Golding in this?!

Last Christmas Poster

The poster for Last Christmas was also revealed and it's super cute. It makes me wish we were getting the rom-com I wanted this to be.

The tag line makes me even more convinced we're getting something more in line with It's A Wonderful Life.

OTHER

Lover By Taylor Swift

Taylor released another song from her upcoming album and it is PERFECTION. It is romantic, and sweet and exactly what I hoped this album would have on it.

It's got some amazing lyrics but these may just be my favourite:
And there's a dazzling haze, a mysterious way about you, dear
Have I known you 20 seconds or 20 years?
They capture so perfectly the kind of connection people want to have. It's a beautiful song.

You Must Remember This Podcast (link)

I came across this podcast after having it recommended to me and I am absolutely obsessed. It's a podcast that tells the 'secret or forgotten history of Hollywood's first century' as the host, Karina Longworth, explains at the opening of every episode

Anyone who is into Hollywood, particularly classic Hollywood, should listen to this. It's well researched, well presented and edited, and entirely entertaining. It's made me want to watch some of the movies discussed, read some of the books mentioned, and dive deeper into stories being told.

Weekly Obsessions

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every Saturday.

Mindhunter season two releases on August 16th and that is pretty much all I care about right now (other than Succession returning this weekend for its second season).

TV/MOVIES

Mindhunter Season Two Trailers

Netflix has released both a teaser and full length trailer for the upcoming second season.  Both are incredible and only make me want to watch the next season immediately.

I especially love our first looks at some of the new serial killers being interviewed. This show's casting is always spot on when it comes to the interview subjects.

I was particularly glad to see Cameron Britton back as Ed Kemper. He and Holden are going to have lots to discuss after that first season finale.

Succession Season Two Trailer

Succession is returning this weekend and I could not be more happy. I was late to season one and didn't watch it until after the season had already aired so I am excited to be part of the conversation each week for this season.

Everyone in this show is horrible. I have seen it described as Game of Thrones in boardrooms but everyone is a Lannister and that is pretty accurate.

The finale of season one was bananas in the best possible way so I am excited to see where the story goes in season two. I am laughing already at the Cousin Greg and Tom scene. I also look forward to see Kieran Culkin deliver another amazing performance (still bitter that he is not up for an Emmy this year).

Weekly Obsessions

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every Saturday.

BOOKS

Cover for Of Curses and Kisses by Sandhya Menon (goodreads)

Fairytale retellings are always a favourite of mine and the fact that this is a Beauty and the Beast retelling set in a boarding school was enough for me to want it immediately.

The incredibly fun cover was revealed and I want to read it even more now.

I love the colour scheme and the font used for the title. It also done in a style that is very popular right now with the characters being drawn instead of using real people. This is a highly anticipated one for me and I cannot wait to read it.

Cover of Anna K by Jenny Lee (goodreads)

A story inspired by Anna Karenina and set in modern times. That alone should have you taking a second look at this novel. The adorable cover doesn't hurt either.

It's bright, and eye catching in a great way. I cannot wait to read this one!

TV/MOVIES

Queen and Slim Trailer

We had a teaser trailer which looked awesome, but not the full trailer for Queen and Slim has been released. It is sort of a Bonnie and Clyde story (which I have always been fascinated by) so I am obviously going to see it. Daniel Kaluuya looks to be giving a heck of a performance in this one.

The line 'Can I be your legacy?' gets me for some reason. This looks like it'll be romantic, heartbreaking and hard to watch at times.

OTHER

Recent Etsy Finds

I loved the third season of Stranger Things so was thrilled when one of my favourite Etsy shops, HappyHello, has these adorable Robin and Steve bookmarks from the third season.

Picture copywrite @ HappyHelloCo

The next item I absolutely love is this cute pin from the KrystanSaintCat Etsy shop. It is available in different colours, but the black and silver one caught my eye. I, obviously, needed to get one because it is very much on brand for me.

Picture copywrite @ KrystanSaintCat

Stand By Me is one of my favourite movies (if not my absolute favourite). I immediately coveted this adorable art print that I found on the AnchoredDesignsUK Etsy shop. It has so many of my favourite quotes and just makes me so happy. Hopefully I'll get to own this soon and it'll find its way on to my wall at some point. It's too good for me not to own.

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every Saturday.

It is, obviously, Sunday but I had a lot going on this week so I wasn't able to get this post done in time for Saturday.

Another small post this week as not much was revealed that caught my eye.

BOOKS

Cover For Layoverland by Gabby Noone (goodreads)

The cover of Layoverland is eye catching and filled with bright colours that don't necessarily fit the description of the book but also manage to be absolute perfect.

It is teased as being perfect for fans of The Good Place and I can certainly see why after reading that synopsis. It sounds like a great mix of a unique premise with a complicated romance.

TV/MOVIES

All Of Marvel's San Diego Comic Con News

Marvel revealed quite a bit at San Diego Comic Con. They released details on the new Doctor Strange and Thor movies. They introduced us to The Eternals. They gave us details on the Black Widow movie and even revealed that we would be getting a Blade reboot.

I love that Natalie Portman's Jane will be following her comic book path. I love that Scarlet Witch will feature prominently in the new Doctor Strange movie. I am excited to see who Valkyrie's Queen is (I expect it a new Captain that we just met recently). I cannot wait to see what Mahershala Ali does with the Blade character.

They also revealed more details about their Disney+ television shows that will tie directly into the new movies.

It's all made me very excited for the future of Marvel and the new characters we're going to meet.

Weekly Obsessions

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every Saturday.

BOOKS

The Beautiful Pre-Order Campaign

Penguin Teen just announced the pre-order campaign for Renee Ahdieh's The Beautiful and it is amazing!

This enamel pin is a must get for me. I cannot wait to devour this book and I am fairly certain I am going to be obsessed.

TV/MOVIES

The Witcher Trailer

I don't know much about this other than it originally was a book that got adapted into a video game and is now going to be a Netflix series.

I've heard that it is a serious contender for the next big thing that could take the place of Game of Thrones now that it has ended.

The first trailer definitely hooked me. Excited to learn when we'll be able to watch the first season.

His Dark Materials Trailer

I haven't read this book series (I know, I know) but I had seen the original movie that was released at one point or another. I am pretty sure everyone agreed it was not a great adaptation of the book series.

HBO is releasing a series this fall and released a trailer at San Diego Comic Con. A television show seems to make much more sense for a series that expansive and complex. The trailer certainly seems to indicate it was a better choice.

The CGI for the bear is incredible. I am excited to watch this in the fall and hopefully pick up the books eventually.

Just a small post this week. I have pretty much been busy watching Stranger Things and not much else is going on.

TV/MOVIES

Knives Out Trailer

I was intrigued by the casting in this movie and the fact that it was simply referred to as a 'classic whodunit'. Not much was released about the plot until the first trailer was revealed.

This trailer is really fun. Chris Evans looks like he is having a blast with this role. I looks like a fun mystery that, I think, will play well around USA Thanksgiving.

Stranger Things Season 3

I ended up watching the entirety of the third season in one day. It is, perhaps, the best season to date and filled with so many emotional moments. I don't want to give any spoilers, but I (mostly) loved all of the new characters. I will probably end up watching it at least once more and already cannot wait for season four.
