Weekly Obsessions

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every week.

It's been too long since I have posted a Weekly Obsessions post. There hasn't been a lot being announced, and everything was getting pushed back and delayed. I am restarting this because we've been getting more announcements lately and I have hope that with a vaccine being rolled out and things being released to streaming that this trend might continue.

I have decided to shift this post to Fridays to close out the week!

We've got some fun things coming up and I am very excited to share what has me most excited this week.

BOOKS

Cover of Gilded by Marissa Meyer (goodreads)

I love Marrisa Meyer's novels, especially her fairytale retellings. I was thrilled to discover that she is releasing another one that is based on the Rumpelstiltskin tale. It's very pretty cover was just revealed and it has made me even more excited.

Also exciting? It's releasing THIS year. It'll be out in November which makes it perfect for peak fall reading.

Cover of All of Us Villains by Amanda Foody and Christine Lynn Herman (goodreads)

This book sounds incredible and it has an excellent cover to go along with its amazing synopsis.

I have been looking forward to reading this since the deal announcement so I am definitely looking forward to getting my hands on a copy in November.

Cover of The Final Girl Support Group (goodreads)

How eye catching is this cover?! I love the red against black color scheme and the blood dripping off the chair is perfect.

The blood smudges on the title are a nice touch! I anticipate this one being a popular beach read this summer.

MOVIES/TELEVISION

Promo for the Law and Order: SVU and Law and Order: Organized Crime Crossover Event

Olivia and Elliott from Law and Order: SVU were one of  my early ships. I was not happy when Chris Meloni left the show without them ever exactly getting together.

Chris Meloni has decided to return to the Law and Order franchise in their newest spin off - Organized Crime. There will be a cross over episode with the SVU team though and that means Olivia and Elliott are going to reunite!

I love this promo! The way that Olivia breathlessly says 'Elliott' at the end makes me so happy. She's obviously shocked (and hopefully happy) to see him. It gives me hope they might eventually end up together after all.

Shadow and Bone Television Show Key Art

Fans of Leigh Bardugo's Grishaverse books are eagerly waiting for the release of Netflix's television adaptation. We received a new series key art image and it is INCREDIBLE!

It also seems that a trailer is being teased to be released on Friday (today when you are reading this) so don't be surprised if it ends up in next week's post.

OTHER

Hamilton Funko Pops

It was only a matter of time before Hamilton Funkos became a reality and they were just recently announced. I am sure they are going to be VERY popular so I recommend getting them early.

My only question? WHERE IS KING GEORGE?! I need him to complete the set.

Weekly Obsessions

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every weekend.

There isn't a whole lot to be excited about right now. Things are pretty not great. However, I do have a few things providing some brightness in all of this.

It's a very Ratched focused post this week!

TV/MOVIES

Ratched Key Art Posters

I was sold instantly because of Ryan Murphy and Sarah Paulson being attached to this. The posters have a very specific vibe. I love how similar to American Horror Story: Asylum it feels.

Those who love One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest will want to check out this origin story of an iconic character. I predict Emmy love for Sarah Paulson.

Rachted Trailer

I love everything about this. I've watched it at least 20 times. The use of the song, Sarah freaking Paulson absolutely killing it, and a supporting cast that looks fantastic.

Love the glimpses of Finn Wittrock that we've seen! I am very excited to learn more about his character. This is my September must watch and I predict it'll become one of my faves of the year.

Weekly Obsessions

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every weekend.

BOOKS

Morgan Matson Book 6 (goodreads)

Morgan recently released the title of her upcoming book as well as a release date. Take Me Home Tonight will be out May 4, 2021. We know it takes place all in one night, and revolves around a friendship. Morgan has described it as Adventures in Babysitting meets Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist so it sounds like it is going to be fun.

The cover and other details should be revealed soon-ish so I'll share them once they are available.

Cover of Lore by Alexandra Bracken (goodreads)

I did not know much about this book until I saw this attention grabbing cover.

Amazing right? It immediately draws your eye and stands out. The book, obviously, involves Greek mythology and the cover perfectly captures that. I am looking forward to this now and am so glad it came to my attention because of this amazing cover.

TV/MOVIES

The Umbrella Academy Season 2 trailer

I loved season one of this show so much. I love the dysfunctional family dynamic mixed with superpowers vibe that it has got going on.

This trailer makes it look like we're in for the same great combo of incredible action with some great humour. I hope we get just as much focus on the family bonds as we did in the first season. This show works because we care about the characters so I hope that is continued.

Lucifer Season 5 trailer

It was just announced that Lucifer will be getting a sixth and final season which made me really excited. I was even more excited when they released the trailer for the upcoming season.

The fact that they are willing to spoil the twin reveal means that it is probably not a secret for long which I am happy about. This trailer makes me confident that they can pull off another great season that is comparable to the fantastic fourth season and I cannot wait to end the summer with this.

Weekly Obsessions

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every weekend.

TV/MOVIES

Promotion for Ryan Murphy's Hollywood kicks off

Netflix has started to release a lot more promotional material for Hollywood. The show debuts May 1st and wile we still do not have a trailer, we do have closer looks at some of the characters.

First up we have posters to highlight each of the main characters.

They put them all  in one photo, but each portrait was released separately. I love the classic look of them. it fits the time period.

Next we have short little clips of each character. I am including the two of the ones released so far. The others can be find on the official Twitter account of the show.

These are basically perfect. I love how everything fits with the time period from the costumes, to the music, to the 'feel' of both characters. I definitely know how I am spending May 1st.

OTHER

It's The Pictures That Got Small podcast

Karina Longworh (host of the You Must Remember This podcast) and Nate DiMeo (host of The Memory Palace podcast) have a new podcast that they are creating together called It's The Pictures That Got Small.

It is a sort of movie club to help get us through this time of social distancing/quarantine. Each week they are having a friend of theirs pick a movie that the group has not yet seen so they can all discuss it after. Two episodes are available (Cast Away and From Here To Eternity) and they'll be watching The Grapes of Wrath for this upcoming episode (which have been dropping on Wednesdays). I am finding it immensely entertaining and have enjoyed following along so far. The podcast is available on both Spotify and Apple so far.

Weekly Obsessions

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every weekend.

BOOKS

Cover for Meet You In The Middle by Devon Daniels (goodreads)

Berkley has been absolutely killing it with their romance novels lately and I am really excited for this one that deals with politics and boats a really cute cover.

This book has a fall release so it'll be a bit of a wait, but if Berkley's track record is any indication, it is going to be worth the wait.

MOVIES/TV

Candyman Trailer

I enjoyed the original Candyman a lot and was excited when I heard that Jordan Peele was involved in a sequel/reboot of sorts. Nia DaCosta is directing and the trailer looks amazing.

There is so much going on in this trailer. We have that incredible remix of Say My Name by Destiny's Child. It is a perfect use of a song in a trailer. Definite goosebumps were happening. We also have the confirmation that the original Candyman Tony Todd is reprising his role. There is no mistaking his recognizable voice. There is also more than just that linking it to the original however as we do see another original cast member (who I assume is reprising their role as well). The trailer is slick, tense and pretty much ensures people will be interested in seeing it when it releases in the summer.

American Horror Story Season Ten Cast Announcement

Ryan Murphy recently shared a video on his Instagram that announced the cast of the upcoming season of American Horror Story.

First, the big news is that Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters are set to return. They are huge fan favourites so people are excited. A moody shore line and Orville Peck's Dead of Night set the tone for the announcement and, I presume, the season.

I, however, am more excited by the reveal that Macaulay Culkin is joining the cast! He feels like such a natural fit for a Ryan Murphy show that I am surprised it has taken this long for Ryan to get him to appear in one. The return of Finn Wittrock is also very exciting for me (which surprises nobody). This cast is one of the few to get me really excited since the Hotel cast was announced. It's just such ridiculously good casting. I need to know the theme and other details immediately.

Shadow and Bone Netflix Series

The first season of Shadow and Bone has finished filming and Netflix has graced us with this really fun cast video. I love it.
I particularly love that Ben Barnes does not say who is he playing (even though we all know) and the very obvious 'Bad Guy' sign by what I am assuming is his trailer. I love that they are blending both the Shadow and Bone series with the Six of Crow series and the casting is PERFECT.

Weekly Obsessions

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every weekend.

Another week in which this did not auto post!

BOOKS

cover by Majesty by Katharine McGee (goodreads)

I enjoyed American Royals when it came out last year. It, of course, leaves of on a cliffhanger so I have been excited to get my hands on the sequel.

The cover was just revealed and it is just as fun as the cover for the first book.

I think I like the colour scheme for this one more than the first though! It is bright and light in a way that the other one wasn't.

MOVIES/TV

Hollywood (Netflix)

We have a release date and poster art for Ryan Murphy's next Netflix series. It's based on Hollywood in the 1940's. Other than someone playing Rock Hudson I believe all the other characters are created for the show.

The post is amazing and I love that tagline. I cannot wait to see a trailer and I hope we might see some other well known celebrities of that time period worked into the story.

Weekly Obsessions

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every Saturday.

BOOKS

Cover for The Ravens by Kass Morgan and Danielle Paige (goodreads)

Paranormal, particularly in young adult, is back and I could not be happier. Witches seem to be part of the upcoming trend and I am here for all of it. I am especially looking forward to this modern take on witches set in a sorority.

The colour scheme of this novel is what immediately caught my eye. The splashes of pink on the black fit the witches in a sorority vibe perfectly in my opinion. This one doesn't come out until January of 2021 so we have a bit of a wait but the cover certainly got my attention.

MOVIES/TV

Trailer for Locke and Key

I recently devoured the Locke and Key series and fell in love. It's a story of grief and childhood that plays against a sort of horror backdrop. I was hesitant about the television series after reading it, but the trailer has brought me fully on board.

Bode's casting is PERFECTION and so much of the tone of the story seems to have been captured here. I am cautiously optimistic.

Promising Young Woman Trailer

I have not been able to stop thinking about this trailer since I first saw it. It's smart, biting, and already causing a lot of discussion.

Carey Mulligan looks to be giving a goosebumps giving performance in this and the subject matter could not be more timely.

Weekly Obsessions

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every Saturday.

We're heading into the holiday season and that is the time that announcements and reveals tend to be less frequent. People are busy and distracted by holiday cheer and shopping.

There are a few things that caught my attention recently that I am excited to share.

MOVIES/TV

FX Network's A Christmas Carol Trailer

This trailer showcases that the upcoming FX holiday special, A Christmas Carol, is going to be a much darker take on the classic story.

Really dark and I actually cannot wait to check this out. I hope it's good. The cast is certainly interesting.

Locke and Key Key Art

Netflix is adapting Joe Hill's Locke and Key graphic novels and they have just released their spooky first key art (no pun intended) for the series.

I have read some of this since the announcement and I am hooked. I cannot wait to read more and I hope this series is just as good. It will launch February 7th on Netflix and I expect you'll see lots of people picking up the graphic novels after binging the first season.

Weekly Obsessions

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every Saturday.

Just a small post this week as not much was revealed. American Horror Story: 1984 starts next week which I am very excited about! Looking forward to sharing my recaps once it begins airing.

TV/MOVIES

The Politician posters

I am excited about Ryan Murphy's first show for Netflix. It's a comedy about a man who wants to be President (at least from what I understand). They reently released some posters and I love them!

This show is making all kinds of promises and I am here for it. I love all three of main ones so much. I am excited to see Ben Platt in something new and am always here for Jessica Lange to come show everyone how acting is done.

Weekly Obsessions

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every Saturday.

BOOK

Cover of Meet Cute by Helena Hunting (goodreads)

I saw this cover pop up on my Twitter feed and instantly loved it. It's cute, bright, and looks perfect for a rom-com style read.

I looked at the synopsis and it sounds like it has the potential to be just as cute as the cover advertises.

TV/MOVIE

The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Teaser

I've been so excited about this new version of Sabrina since it was first announced. It's a darker, more horror infused version that will be releasing on Netflix just before Halloween. This trailer has left me with nothing but excitement.

Harvey and Sabrina look adorable. That demon thing looks straight up terrifying and I am so excited to meet Sabrina's Aunts in this one! Who knew that the Happy Birthday song could sound terrifying?!

The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Poster Art

The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina promo is in full swing because along with that spooky trailer this poster art was revealed. It matches the teaser that was released and sets the tone of the show perfectly.

I love the 'Happy Birthday, Witch' tagline! The menacing demon (that is what I am guessing this thing is) behind her! The candles that look ominous!  it is all working. I cannot wait for this to release on October 26th. I plan to binge it immediately.

Weekly Obsessions

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every Saturday.

BOOKS

Cover Of Courtney Summer's Sadie (goodreads)

People have raved about Courtney Summer's novels to me before. I have not read nearly as many of them as I should but I have read enough of them to know that her books are powerful, and her newest sounds like no exception.

Courtney's newest novel is being compared to the Serial podcast and sounds like it has a great murder mystery hook that will (most likely) also examine missing girls in general.

I also happen to love this cover. It's striking and eye catching while being very simple. I am super excited for this one as I think it is going to be one of the must reads of fall 2018 for a lot of people.

When We Caught Fire by Anna Godbersen (goodreads)

Publisher's Weekly recently posted their Children's Books Fall 2018 Sneak Peek and this title caught my eye. It is described as "relating the fictional story of the love triangle that started Chicago’s Great Fire" which immediately intrigued me. I am looking forward to hearing more about this one when the Fall catalog is released.

Cover of The Dark Descent Of Elizabeth Frankenstein by Kiersten White (goodreads)

A creepy sounding book deserves a creepy cover and Kiersten White's newest has got one of the creepiest covers I've seen in a long time.

This Frankenstein retelling has a cover that looks, chillingly, like sewn skin  (even if it is pink velvet). It instantly brings to mind the classic story of Frankenstein while the title tells you that it's something all together different.

I am excited to see what this version of Frankenstein does to twist and reimagine the story. I am so excited to get my hands on this one, and that amazing cover is just one of the reasons.

Cover of The Lady's Guide To Petticoats And Piracy (goodreads)

I loved The Gentleman's Guide To Vice and Virtue. I especially loved Monty's sister, Felicity, and was thrilled that she was getting her own novel!

The cover of that novel has recently been revealed, and it is amazing!

I love that it is both similar to Monty's cover and yet uniquely Felicity's at the same time. I cannot wait to see what adventures await Felicity and the new characters we are to meet!

TV/MOVIE

Jessica Jones Season Two Trailer

My love for Jessica Jones is well documented and I am very (im)patiently counting down the days until I can binge watch season two.

This newest trailer is doing nothing to make the wait any easier. It's even better than the first trailer that was released. It pretty much filled with everything I love about Jessica Jones - Jessica's snarky one liners, Trish being the kind of best friend we all want, and Jessica calling men out on their shit.

I love that this show calls out rape culture the way that it does. It was vital to season one because of the plot, but it is nice to see that it is still part of the show for its second season. March 8th isn't that far away right? *cries*

OTHER

Grease Funko Pops

I am a huge fan of classic movies, and Grease is one of my favourites. It is a movie I remember vividly from my childhood and is one I still watch when I am feeling nostalgic.

I was excited when Funko announced during their huge batch of Toy Fair announcements that they would be making some Grease Funko Pops!

We get two different versions of Sandy and Danny and I am pretty sure I am going to need both of them. I also really want to see the back of the yellow dress Sandy as I am sure her hair is amazing.

More Stranger Things Funkos

Along with the above mentioned Grease announcement, Funko also announced some new Stranger Things Funko Pops that have me already clearing some room on my shelves.

I am, for sure, going to need both of the Steve Funkos, and that Eleven is pretty awesome. I may also have to add Billy to my collection, and who could resist Bob dressed a vampire (it certainly doesn't suck)? The details on these Funko Pops keep getting better and these are some of the best I have seen yet.

Weekly Obsessions

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every Saturday.

A Movie/TV heavy addition of Weekly Obsessions this week!

TV/MOVIE

Gaston Clip from the new live action Beauty and the Beast

It is pretty much common knowledge that I am beyond excited for the new Beauty and the Beast movie. I have tickets purchased and am counting down the days.

This new clip was revealed, and I basically love everything about it.

Luke Evan's facial expressions are perfection for Gaston. I love that they have LeFou slyly paying off the tavern patrons to sing along. It's all perfect. I have a feeling I am going to leave the movie completely smitten with Luke's version of Gaston simply because of the way he portrays him.

Mindhunter Trailer

You may recall I mentioned a David Fincher directed TV show coming to Netflix. They recently just released the trailer for this show and it is awesome. October is going to be one of the best TV months ever because of this and the second season of Stranger Things.

Jonathan Groff is going to be amazing in this. I cannot wait to devour this as soon as it drops on Netflix.

Feud Season Two

Season one has not even started airing yet (but does this weekend) but I am already so excited for season two.

Many news outlets have announced that the second season will focus on the Princess Diana and Prince Charles divorce. Sarah Paulson is totally going to play Diana, right? I mean, she would be perfect. I am excited to see who is cast and how that season unfolds.
