Weekly Obsessions

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every Saturday.

A small Weekly Obsessions but one filled with some pretty amazing things!

BOOK

Hunting Prince Dracula cover (goodreads)

Stalking Jack The Ripper was one of my favourite reading experiences of last year. I was very excited when it was announced that the next book would revolve around Dracula.

The cover was just released and I love it! So much!

The stake in her hands! OMG! It is perfect. I love the white outfit against the dark background. I am hoping this will be at  Book Expo America this year because I need to read it ASAP!

TV/MOVIE

Beauty and the Beast (live action)

I went to see this movie Thursday night and was completely charmed. I already want to see it again. The movie is very similar to the classic animated version and I predict anyone who LOVED the original will not be disappointed by this remake. I thought Emma Watson was a perfect Belle. Dan Stevens is wonderful as Beast (and he has an incredible singing voice). Luke Evans was charmingly evil as Gaston. Josh Gad was wonderful as LeFou. The entire cast was great and I loved the new songs they added to the movie with Evermore being a personal favourite.

Have you see the Beauty and the Beast remake yet? If so, let me know what you think in the comments.

Red Nose Day .... Actually

I was excited when it was announced that Love Actually was going to have a reunion of sorts for Red Nose Day! They recently released a trailer for the event and it is, as expected, perfect.

This teaser, of course, is a callback to Andrew Lincoln's iconic scene in the original. I wonder if Mark will be outside Juliet's house with more poster boards in this follow up.

OTHER

Book Expo America

I received notification that my press pass application was approved for BEA this year which means I'll be traveling to New York City in May for the annual event again this year! I am so excited to see everyone, meet some authors, and basically fangirl over books in general. It is one big bookish party and I am so excited to be a part of it again this year.

BOOK

Cover Of A Line In The Dark By Malinda Lo (goodreads)

The darkness of this cover compliments the darkness hinted at in the synopsis perfectly. There is something vivid and striking about this cover. It stands out and makes you want to take a closer look.

The title almost looks like it is carved into the skin in a way (or like veins). This novel sounds incredible as well so the pretty cover is a bonus.

Third Book In The Me Before You Series

It was announced this week that Jojo Moyes will be releasing another book about Louisa Clark to make the Me Before You series a trilogy. I had mixed views about After You, and I have mixed opinions about another book about Lou but I will totally read it. I adore Lou and want to continue her story even if it crushes my heart with the looming absence of what made these books special (ie the bond between Will and Lou).

TV/MOVIE

Beauty And The Beast

IT IS SO SOON!! I am going this upcoming Thursday and I already have tickets. I am beyond excited and hope it is as good as I anticipate it being. They released the official soundtrack yesterday and I spent most of the day listening to the songs on repeat!

Mr Robot Season Three Announcement

Mr Robot is moving from its usual summer time slot for season three. It will instead have an Oct premiere date which basically ensures Oct is going to be an epic month for television. As part of the announcement they revealed that BD Wong will be promoted to series regular which is very exciting. I, however, just want more Tyrell Wellick in my life (and on my TV screen) so I am curious about Martin Wallström's presence in the third season. It is going to be a really long wait, but something tells me it will be more than worth it.

Weekly Obsessions

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every Saturday.

A Movie/TV heavy addition of Weekly Obsessions this week!

TV/MOVIE

Gaston Clip from the new live action Beauty and the Beast

It is pretty much common knowledge that I am beyond excited for the new Beauty and the Beast movie. I have tickets purchased and am counting down the days.

This new clip was revealed, and I basically love everything about it.

Luke Evan's facial expressions are perfection for Gaston. I love that they have LeFou slyly paying off the tavern patrons to sing along. It's all perfect. I have a feeling I am going to leave the movie completely smitten with Luke's version of Gaston simply because of the way he portrays him.

Mindhunter Trailer

You may recall I mentioned a David Fincher directed TV show coming to Netflix. They recently just released the trailer for this show and it is awesome. October is going to be one of the best TV months ever because of this and the second season of Stranger Things.

Jonathan Groff is going to be amazing in this. I cannot wait to devour this as soon as it drops on Netflix.

Feud Season Two

Season one has not even started airing yet (but does this weekend) but I am already so excited for season two.

Many news outlets have announced that the second season will focus on the Princess Diana and Prince Charles divorce. Sarah Paulson is totally going to play Diana, right? I mean, she would be perfect. I am excited to see who is cast and how that season unfolds.

New To My Book Closet

It's that time of the week again. Time to show you what bookish goodies made their way into my home and book closet (to be saved from the evil book eating cat monster named Aria). This is inspired by the various "mailbox" posts out there (eg. In My Mailbox by The Story Siren, and Stacking the Shelves by Tynga's Reviews)

A whole bunch of awesomeness has made its way into my mailbox this week!

First up, I was sent this package of awesomeness from Thomas Allen Canada. They distribute Algonquin Books here in Canada and I am curious about both of these titles.

Here We Are by Kelly Jensen (goodreads)
What Girls Are Made Of by Elana K Arnold (goodreads)

A huge thank you to Thomas Allen Canada for sending them over!

I added another Funko Pop to my steadily growing collection. This one is Belle from the upcoming live action Beauty and the Beast. I just need Beast to go with her now!

I purchased a copy of Caraval because I needed to own the hardcover after devouring the ARC.

Caraval by Stephanie Garber (goodreads)

Lastly, I borrowed a book from my friend because I've been hearing nothing but rave reviews for it. It does seem like one I am going to love.

The Hating Game by Sally Thorne (goodreads)

I am a chapter into this one and already loving it. A huge thank you to my friend Katie for lending it to me.

Happy Weekend and Happy Reading!

Weekly Obsessions

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every Saturday.

A few things caught my eye this week, but I am mainly all about the new Beauty and the Beast trailer!

TV/MOVIE

Beauty And The Beast final trailer

It seems Disney saved the best for last because this trailer is everything. Just watch it and try to not have a grin on your face during most of it.

Goosebumps kick in right around when the 'barely even friends...' verse starts. Something about the nostalgia of the song combined with the glimpse of both the 'Be Our Guest' and 'Gaston' musical numbers just really works. It makes my heart swell. Speaking of Gaston, I am loving the brief glimpse that we've seen of Luke Evans in this movie. Talking to himself in the mirror, and the bit where he slicks his hair back during 'Gaston' is perfection. I have a feeling this is going to be one of my favourite movies of 2017.

Stranger Things Season 2

It will come as no surprise that I am desperate for anything relating to season two of Stranger Things. Entertainment Weekly released that there will be a first look teaser released during Superbowl Sunday. They also released the first still from season two.

I love that the boys are dressing up as Ghostbusters! I cannot wait to see the teaser and to find out an official release date for season two.

Weekly Obsessions

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every Saturday.

Everything is pretty awful right now but there were still a few things to get excited about released this week.

BOOK

A Blade So Black by LL McKinney (goodreads)

Just read this deal announcement and tell me you don't want to read this immediately.
Pitched as a retelling of Alice in Wonderland with the butt-kicking of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, with a black teen heroine at its center, Alice is a warrior who battles Nightmares in the dark and terrifying dream realm known as Wonderland.
I love Buffy. I love retellings. This is obviously something I am going to be very interested in reading! I am excited to hear more about this title as the 2018 release nears.

TV/MOVIE

Bates Motel Final Season Key Art

The key art is just as creepy as you would expect. They released multiple ones but this one is my favourite.

The key art is perfectly unsettling and perfect for the final season which takes Norman into Psycho territory to close out the show. I am going to miss this show so much. It holds some of the best acting on television right now and it pains me that it never got the awards recognition it deserves.

Beauty And The Beast

The new live action Beauty and the Beast continues to be high on my must see list. They recently released a set of motion posters that introduce the characters.

I particularly like the one for Gaston. He is exactly what I would expect him to be. The raised eyebrow and smirk are basically perfect.

OTHER

Mr Robot Funko Pops

Funko recently announced a whole lot of upcoming Pops and Mr Robot was one of the collections they teased with some concept art.

I will obviously be needing the entire set. I especially love Darlene's glasses. The set did leave me asking one question though...

Which seems fair considering the second season. I hope he's just a store exclusive and is part of this first wave. I do not want to have to wait for the second wave.

Weekly Obsessions

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every Saturday.

Lots of Beauty and the Beast goodness this week!

TV/MOVIE

Beauty and the Beast trailer

This trailer is EVERYTHING. I love how it recreates the trailer for the animated version. I love how magical it feels. I love how perfect Emma Watson is as Belle.

I have watched this video too many times to count and will basically have it on repeat until March when I finally get to see this movie.

Hufflepuff Pride Video

I was sorted into Hufflepuff when I took the Pottermore quiz, and because of that fact I can deeply relate to the below video.

I left Fantastic Beats And Where To Find Them a proud Hufflepuff. Proud that Newt was brave, but did the right thing. He was kind and that was the entire point. Newt has made me want to scream my Hufflepuff pride and I thank JK Rowling for his character. The above video is just hilarious and adorkably Eddie Redmayne.

OTHER

Beauty and the Beast Funkos

My Funko obsession is well documented at this point, so it should not be a surprise that I was very excited when I saw these Funkos were being released.

How adorable is Beast? I NEED HIM! Gaston is perfect (that chin though) and the Hot Topic exclusive Belle is my preferred one of the two. These will be released in early 2017 and I intend on pre-ordering ASAP.

I had lots of fun things arrive into my mailbox this week!

First up, my third Liv Moore Funko Pop arrived!

Love that she is holding a bowl of brains and hot sauce!

Next up I purchased this pretty stunning hardcover!

Heartless by Marissa Meyer (goodreads)

I love how pretty the book is under the dust jacket. The chessboard is pretty perfect.

A huge thank you to HCC Frenzy/Harper Collins for the next arrival to my mailbox!

Fireworks by Katie Cotugno (goodreads)

I am so, so, so excited for this one! It's set in Florida during the 90's boy/girl band craze! I cannot wait!

Next up is a book from Penguin Random House Canada that I had not heard of but was instantly sold thanks to the amazing letter included.

Everything Beautiful Is Not Ruined by Danielle Younge-Ullman (goodreads)

It sounds amazing and I definitely recommend checking out the synopsis to see if you want to add it to your own 'tbr' shelf.

I also had to pick up this issue of Entertainment Weekly. How stunning is that dress?!

Also, the special effects for the beast are pretty awesome! I cannot wait to see this movie.

Lastly, I got a fun package from a friend that included some movies that I am excited to own!

I have not seen How To Be Single, but Cruel Intentions is one of my faves!

Happy Weekend and Happy Reading!

A very small post this week. There wasn't a lot to be excited about this week but I did find one thing that made me pretty excited.

TV/MOVIE

Beauty and the Beast live action movie poster

I found this on Emma Watson's Twitter and am in love. It's perfect.

I cannot wait for this movie!!

Weekly Obsessions

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every Saturday.

This week has been filled with exciting reveals and happenings! There is so much to be excited about and obsessed with.

BOOK

Cover of Becoming Bonnie by Jenni L Walsh (goodreads)

I have been super excited about this book since I first heard about it and was thrilled when the cover was released. I think it captures what this book is about perfectly.

I love the 1920's/1930s feel of this cover. Her dress especially. I also love that Bonnie was put on the cover by herself. They didn't feel the need to squeeze in Clyde. This is Bonnie's story and I love that they allowed her centre focus.

TV/MOVIE

Merry Christmas Will Byers (a Stranger Things/Charlie Brown mashup)

I am a huge Stranger Things fan. HUGE. The second I saw this I knew I was going to love it. It's cute, and rather perfect and combines one of my favourite Christmas classics with the new cult hit.

Obviously it has SPOILERS for the first season of Stranger Things so only watch if you've finished the first season (and if you haven't go do that).

Super cute, right? I love the little details they put in and it has only made me want season two all the more. Good job to whoever created this! It's amazing.

Beauty and the Beast Entertainment Weekly cover

OTHER

Stranger Things Funko Pops

Stranger Things is getting the Funko Pop treatment and needless to say I was pretty excited to find out these were going to be a thing I could purchase. I CANNOT WAIT! How amazing are these? They are so perfect! You can bet these will be joining my ever growing collection (I did mention I was obsessed with this series).

I have already pre-ordered most of these and will be on the look out for that Upside Down Will ThinkGeek exclusive, and the blonde wig wearing Eleven variant (she's apparently going to be hard to get).  They'll be in stores in January of 2017 but are up for pre-order at most locations.

Jessica Jones Funko Pop

Jessica Jones is not only one of my favourite Netflix series, but she's also one of my female characters. I love that she's flawed, and owns it. I was thrilled with Funko announced that she'll be getting the Pop treatment and her Pop is pretty much perfect.

I am totally going to have to pre-order here. She'll be available sometime in early 2017!

This is inspired by the various "mailbox" posts out there (eg. In My Mailbox by The Story Siren, and Stacking the Shelves by Tynga's Reviews)

Lots of exciting things arrived in my mailbox this week.

First up, my pre-order goodies from Bloomsbury for the Sarah J Maas books that were released recently. I love the notebook and the colouring pencils are a great idea!

Next up is a thank you gift from Raincoast Books for taking part in the Heartless blog tour! Check back later for more details on that tour and my stop!

Seriously, this mug is my new favourite. I love it immensely. A huge thank you to Raincoast Books (especially Melissa) for sending this along.

Lastly, I was looking for something to store my lipstick in and once I saw this I HAD to have it. It matches my Peter Pan one and is pretty much perfect for me.

Weekly Obsessions

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every Saturday.

Lots to be excited about this week and I predict lots of people will be excited about this week's inclusions.

BOOK

Cover Of The Names They Gave Us by Emery Lord (goodreads)

It is no secret that I adore Emery Lord's books, so a new release from her is exciting news.

Her next book just had the cover revealed and I love it so much.

The colour scheme is amazing and I love how it immediately catches your eye. It's colours are bolder than you would expect at first as I could easily see this in lighter pastel colours as well. As pretty as the cover is I am the most excited for the story that will be inbetween the cover.

TV/MOVIE

First Look At Beauty And The Beast

StichKingdom released these first look images from the new live action Beauty and the Beast. Emma Watson looks amazing as Belle and the Beast is perfection as well. The costumes are stunning and I cannot wait for a full length trailer.

Weekly Obsessions

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every Saturday.

TV/MOVIE

Beauty and the Beast movie poster

Pretty sure my excitement for the newest Beauty and the Beast movie from Disney is evident. Disney has released the most stunning movie poster for this movie. It's breathtaking and I hope they offer it as a poster you can purchase because I would definitely hang this on my wall.

So simple, and pretty. It is instantly recognizable as Beauty and the Beast with the iconic rose. The whole poster just really works, and has made me even more excited for the movie.

Suicide Squad Entertainment Weekly cover

One of my most anticipated summer movies is Suicide Squad. I am super excited we're finally getting a movie version of Harley Quinn and I cannot wait to see what Margot Robbie does will the role.

Unsurprisingly, Entertainment Weekly has featured the movie in the upcoming issue and released four different covers to celebrate the movie's upcoming release.

This cover is, unsurprisingly, my favourite ...

I am curious about Jared Leto's Joker as well. He appears to have been very method in his approach to this role and I wonder how that will showcase itself in his performance. Either way I need this cover, and cannot wait until this finally releases.

OTHER

Newt Scamander Funko Pop

How cute is this Funko Pop?! I, obviously, need it. I am curious who (or what) else will be made into Pops to celebrate this upcoming return to JK Rowling's wizarding world.

Side note - apparently Hufflepuff is the house of hotties (looking at you Cedric and Newt). I am shallow, but it makes me super proud to be a Hufflepuff.. #HufflepuffPride

TV/MOVIE

Beauty And The Beast (live action) trailer

Goosebump inducing is the only way I would describe this amazing trailer. It hits all the right buttons to immediately pique your interest and make you desperate for more.

The beautiful castle, the brief glimpse of the rose, and that iconic music all work together invoke a fierce feeling of nostalgia. It's obviously going to appeal to fans of the classic Disney movie, but this trailer also ensures that new fans will be just as excited to see it. Anyone else desperate for a glimpse at the cast? I cannot wait to see what Beast, Gaston, and the rest look like.

OTHER

King Henry's Wives t-shirt

I saw this shirt and immediately coveted it. It's amazing.

BOOK

Little Wrecks by Meredith Miller (goodreads)

This deal announcement caught my eye as the book has been compared to The Virgin Suicides. Not much was revealed in the synopsis other than it would explore mental health and sexual violence. I am curious enough to want to find out more about it.

TV/MOVIE

Luke Evans and Hugh Jackman Gaston Sing Off

It's not a secret that I adore Beauty and the Beast. It's also not a secret that I am insanely excited for the live action movie coming out in 2017 that features Emma Watson as Belle.

This adorable video was sent to me from a friend who knew I would enjoy it and now I am sharing it's smile inducing charm with all of you.

Luke Evans and Hugh Jackman are challenged to a Gaston sing off to prove who is the best Gaston. In my opinion the only winners are us who get to enjoy this amazingness.

It's made me want to watch Luke Evans' in Beauty and the Beast even more now. I am sure he's going to be a fantastic Gaston!

OTHER

BEA Countdown

We're just about a month away from BEA and I am SO excited. I cannot wait to see friends and meet some of my favourite authors and get to see Chicago for the first time. This is about when I start to get antsy and impatient. It does feel that this year has kind of crept up on me though because we're much closer than I anticipated.  Will I be seeing you at BEA? Let me know in the comments.

Extremely small Weekly Obsessions post this week.

BOOKS

Cover for Legacy of Kings by Eleanor Herman (goodreads)

You most likely saw this cover revealed by Epic Reads. This is a series about a teen aged Alexander the Great. YES! SO MUCH YES! I cannot wait to read this.

MOVIE/TV

Casting for Disney's live action Beauty and the Beast

As soon as the casting of Emma Watson was announced as Belle, everyone immediately wanted to know who would play her Beast. That question, along with who will be Gaston, has been answered.

The Beast will be played by Dan Stevens, and Gaston will be played by Luke Evans. Both interesting choices that certainly look the part. I am most excited to see how the look next to Emma and to see the chemistry between them.

BOOKS

My Favourite Manson Girl by Alison Umminger (Goodreads)

I stumbled across this thanks to Kelly from Kellyvision. This sounds like it has the potential to be amazing.
Tells the present-day story of 15-year-old Anna, who escapes to Los Angeles for the summer and finds herself immersed in the story of the Manson Girls and begins to see disturbing parallels around her.
I am very intrigued and look forward to hearing more about it as we get close to it's 2016 publication date.

MOVIE/TV

Disney's Beauty and the Beast live action adaptation

It was recently announced that Disney will be doing a live action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast. It will closely follow the cartoon and even have many of the beloved songs from the classic tale. Emma Watson has signed on to be Belle (obviously amazing!). Everything about this has made me very excited. I am eager for casting news for the Beast and Gaston to be announced!

Game of Thrones

I am officially caught up on Game of Thrones. I will be watching the next season in weekly doses like everyone else. I had my heart crushed at the Red Wedding (*sniff*), have cheered for Arya, and have learned to like some of the characters I hated. I cannot wait to see what is next for all of them.

New To My Book Closet....sort of

It's that time of the week again. Time to show you what bookish goodies made their way into my home and book closet (to be saved from the evil book eating cat monster named Aria). This is inspired by the various "mailbox" posts out there (eg. In My Mailbox by The Story Siren, and Stacking the Shelves by Tynga's Reviews).

This week's mailbox is something a little different. I do not have any new books to show, but I do have other goodies.

I went to Disney World this past week, and am going to show off the one present I got myself while there. My favourite part of the trip was getting to see the new Fantasyland area. The Beauty and the Beast area is stunning. From Belle's village (complete with Maurice's home, and Gaston's Tavern), to Prince Adam's castle (aka the Beast) the detail is amazing. I will be offering a full recap on Tuesday but I picked up a wine glass in one of the new shops next to the beyond awe inspiring Be Our Guest restaurant.

While I was away I received my first Christmas card of the season! It was from the lovely Lindsay from Me on Books. It's super cute, and I hope mine to her actually gets to her before Christmas.

I am off to recover from my vacation! The blog resumes regular schedule on Monday with a guest post! Happy Sunday and Happy Reading!

Obsessions

The awesome Kelly at KellyVision started posting a weekly post highlighting whatever she happened to be obsessed with that week. I LOVE this idea, so much in fact that I will be doing it myself every Saturday.

Here are my obsessions this week:

BOOK

Stacey Jay's awesome news

I may have mentioned how excited I am about fairytales. Once Upon A Time, Cinder, and other amazing retellings are bringing them back in a major way. Imagine my excitement when I read this on Stacey Jay's blog
"Stacey Jay's futuristic retelling of BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, to Michelle Poploff at Delacorte, in a very nice deal, in a two-book deal, by Ginger Clark at Curtis Brown."
Stacey goes on to give some more details, and this sounds awesome. I enjoyed Juliet Immortal so I am curious to see what she will do with Beauty and the Beast. She also teased us with a news of a Romeo Redeemed cover (she calls it YUMMY). VERY EXCITED!

TV

Vampire Diaries

This photo makes me all kinds of happy. I love Stefan and Elena together, and this season has been rough. This looks like a step in the right direction though and I am dying to see the episode this comes from.

Revenge

I've loved this show since the beginning, but I am swooning over this weeks episode where the adorable Daniel proposes to our devious (and slightly crazy) heroine Emily (err...Amanda). It was a sweet proposal with the rain and sweet words and all. I also LOVE Nolan. His snark is amazing. If you haven't checked out this fun, deliciously soapy show you really should!
